  1. Soldering PCMCIA card! on Abused, But Working Hardware Stories? · · Score: 1
At one point I was working a helpdesk that included support for field engineer for a large Telecommunications company in the mid 90's. At this point most of these guys had been switched over to Panasonic CF-25 laptops which are very tough! To communicate back to the servers they all had radio pcmcia cards with an antenna sticking out of them. I got a call from one of these requesting a new card, so I go through the normal stuff of what's wrong with it, why do you need a new one. Turns out several months before he had broken the antenna off, took the card apart and soldered it back together and it worked but now it didn't. These engineers were crazy, pretty much 10 years min expereince with the telco equipment and give them a soldering iron and nothing was safe!

After ordering his replacement a couple of us went over to the area that had our hardware lab and tried to figure out how to open that card without destroying it and we never did find a way. How that engineer not only opened but soldered it I would love to know!

The other thing is the baen library is very nice for Science Fiction and Fantasy. I've bought several books after reading a downloaded txt file of the book and then wanting it in a hardback and the rest of a series.

When hybirds or electric cars can out accelerate, have at least equal range and be comparable cost to my Z28 maybe I'll look at buying one.

Even most of the Shittes admit that the cleric leading this uprising is a radical and has a small following. Now onto your crack about the 2000 election.
