Security that evolves is always the answer. Good guys need to figure out how ensure current technology functions efficiently before bad guys (sorry, fairer sex) figure out how to circumvent it.
Good guys innovate, bad guys infiltrate.
Until everyone understands that your security is essential to all of our security, we will not be secure.
I like speed. Firefox and the entire Mozilla line of browsers are SLOW. Almost painfully so. As Java is not a normal part of my working or play environment, it doesn't get loaded until needed.
IE just plain starts faster. I don't go to any sites that try to push malware on me, and I purge all accumulated "cooties" from all user directories upon shutdown.
Plus - IE makes me money when I fix other people's PCs.
I thought Open Source was supposed to be soooooo much better. At least, that's what you read DAILY here on/.
Why haven't the open source community come up with the killer apps to once and for all vault them into the REAL arena? I would think they'd be sick of standing in the shadows.
And if you're not running the OS you seek an update on... Switch - or don't bitch.
For the devices to truly be more than the sum of the hardware, they would not only have to be truly self-aware, but capable of learning about other hardware. Or, continual firmware upgrades when charging - so they get regularly reprogrammed with the ability to "deal" with other automated devices in your home. All of these devices would have to "grow" or "update".
Personally, I'd rather see them go at it like BattleBots. A little duck tape, a nice solenoid and a semi-auto pistol...
The unrestricted access to my "data" on my piece of "equipment". If it's mine, I should be able to use it on any applicable device I have. Restriction free.
Congrat's - and let this inspire others to continue to allow us to freely access what is ours!
Well, being a staunch MS fan, I know what happens and how to deal with it.
Keeps me floating in beer money!

My XP machines (all Pro) have a shutdown script that purges all cooties that both IE and the OS keep squirreled away for no apparant reason.
Too bad the browsers can't purge all accumulated cookies upon closing the browser window...
I don't mind logging in each time I use a machine, so why would I mind logging in to websites that I frequent?

Because people here are always anti-some shit or another. M$ bashing is as popular here as tree-hugging is in California.
No one has the brains to work with what they have, especially when in an enterprise - they don't have the say.
