    if i remember correctly the earth gains about a few tons a day due to all the debree that falls from orbit, though not all at the same time it's basicly from rocks about the size of your head or smaller.

    i had one of the effected laptops. after the gpu failed the second time and getting tired of 50-60c temps under normal usage i dumped it, chauked it up to bad design and picked up a dell inspiron 1420.

    not to belittle the effort of the people who implement such systems. though when you come right down to it and think about it, this is the equivalent of 'grasping at straw's' when it comes to power generation. especially when you think about all the energy that needs to be expended just to get a person there to generate it.

    Until a tipping point is reached and feedback loops happen faster then we can react. ie massive methane hydrate release etc.
    Remember climate is a non-linear system, and it takes a decent amount of education to get a person to understand the concept of a exponential system.

    I'll bet money that 99% of the people who have access to the code would have no clue what it does. that only leaves those who are familiar with it and those that know the language it is written in but are not familiar with the specific code. the former would easily be silenced, the later can be dismissed as kooks and better yet other people will do it to them as well due to herd mentality.
    frankly i think it's wise to not trust the nsa even if you can see the code, because frankly it's just plain misplaced faith that a simple philosophy like oss can universally protect you from such malicious intent, Especially considering the history and track record of such a agency.

    and i will say it again. their nuclear program is most likely as they said, civilian. they are a oil/nat gas exporter that also use's it's own production for domestic use including making electricity. they are smart and know that as their domestic consumption increases their income decreases as there is less available to sell/export. so why not use nuclear power to satisfy their internal demand at least for natural gas there by increasing the amount for export and thus the money they will get. though the reason this get's the ire of this country is because the people they would be selling it too would not be us but china who can now most likely out bid us.

    hmm sounds familiar.

    I see you only believe what comes out of the MSM for your South Vietnamese news. In reality, things are mostly going rather well over there. Hospitals, schools, and businesses are being built. Most places are peaceful with some remaining hotspots. The South Vietnamese army is taking a more active role in dealing with the insurgents and extremists with our armed forces taking on more of a support role. But you wouldn't know that reading the NY Times or any of the other major newspapers. From what they say, South Vietnamese is a bloodbath and nothing good happens there.

    ah there we go, that's where i heard that propaganda before. Funny how history cuts through the lies and shows the truth. :)

    i can't really see much of a difference between the two from a laptop's monitor screen distance away from my eyes and the difference would not be that much if any at all at the typical distance for viewing a a hdtv.

    unless the company bought off enough politicians or throws someone out as a scapegoat so the rest can get away.
    get rid of corporate person hood and the financial protection it gives for stockholders and you will not see this again, letting them have protection just encourages stuff like this because they can make more money that way. not to mention that it will also re-ballence the whole political playing field back into the court of the average citizen instead of the pseudo citizens that are immortal and have endless streams of cash.

    from evolution is not the fact that it would get rid of god's hand from making the world, it's the fact that it disproves the whole 'original sin' concept the Christian religion is based upon. Face it, without the fall from grace and creation of original sin(putting aside the fact that it's a fable about movements of the stars and planets). Then there is no need for a savior to wipe it away(putting aside the very strong evidence that he never existed).

    Comcast is trying other ways to block bit torrent traffic, i ran into one yesterday every time i tried to connect to the pirate bay so i can get my hands on a 5 year old documentary that is not sold on dvd. i found in the torrent log that someone with a comcast registered ip injected the 'download finished stop sending' command into the transfer. this lasted for most of the day.

    The high cost of nuclear is the insurence angle. no private entity wants to be the policy holder of the plant when, not if it fails.
