It's called the law of receding horizens. If your renewable energy source is suposed to be cost competitve at $x a barrel and right now it's $y once you reach $x it turns out the 'cost competitive price' has moved to $z because all of the costs going into it have gone up.
the disturbing part and the best example to date that the united states is now a fascist state(merger of large corporations and the government), is that they want the state and your tax money to pay for the police doing their dirty work.
your closer to the truth then many people here will be willing to admit. frankly what will doom the human race is the thinking that we can control anything. we are tampering with some stuff that if done wrong will kill us and yet we are letting the most irresponsible group of people among us have control of this, multi-national corporations. they have no incentive other then to get this out the door asap so they can look good on their next quarter finical report. If there was ever a use for a government and a space station/colony, forgetting about all the energy and maintaince concerns, THIS is it.
I weep for the messed up world we will be leaving our kids.
not to mention the fact they dumped thousands of mini-bombs from cluster bombs over wide areas of land and towns. just as powerful if not more so then land mines but much more easy to set off.
the simple answer is they are even harder then via's offerings to get a hold of, and much much more expensive then via's offerings when hey first come out. not to mention unlike via their offerings were mainly limited to large number batches(you had to buy a tray of 1,000 or so) or other company's only. Also i would like to point out that they are only underpowered if you expect them to do the exact same thing as a large pc with a 100 watt cpu, even there you will find the amd geode and the ulv intel chips lacking.
i am not surprised they left some things out like the cia run terrorist group in italy(and other European nations as well) killing people and blaming it on leftist groups during the cold war.
Company A sees your code and knows they can use it in their big project A Company A takes your code, files a software patent over it. seeing as it can 'greese' the system it gets the patent despite prior art. Company A sends you a cease and desist letter saying your stealing their code from project A and you are hurting their sales, they also call you a pirate and theif. you give in cause you don't have the millions to fight the claim in court to prove they stole it from you and not the other way around leaving alone the fact you put the code under bsd which ALLOWS them to do this.
Company A has now effectively taken your code made millions on it, and charged you with thousands in fines. Which you have to pay now or go to jail. this would not of happened if you put the software under the gpl because then the same copyright law they just used against you could protect you.
i had a recent discussion with a friend of mine over the exact same issue, that nothing much if anything at all has changed in the zelda series since the big leap to 3d. all the gameplay was the same dispite minor tweaks in it or story made limits(the 3 day limit in Oot's sequal). or stylistic choices like the cell shading in the game cube game version. he refused to see that at the basic game play level all zelda's are the same. inital sword aquireing event -> dungeon -> boss -> dungeon -> new item needed for said dungeon -> boss -> (repeat for 5~7 times) -> final dungeon -> gannon or equivilant boss.
no that's not socialism. what Brazil did was socialism, looking out for the welfare of it's own people. the type of government your thinking of is called 'fascism' when the corporation and the state have basically merged and the state cares about nothing but helping corporations.
no your logic is *%&*^%(. think for a minute and you will see that the religion you hold dear, 'worship of the all might dollar aka capitalism'. was invented when there was no such thing as patents existed, but by your perverse logic it would not of happened. in fact humans seem to have done very well for the hundreds of thousands of years before such a thing called a 'patent' or 'trademarking' or 'copyright' existed.
actually from fossil records. living to at least 40 was not uncommon, living past 50 though was rare. the 20 year lifespan though was achieved by agriculture and civilization due to malnutrition and harsh treatment by other humans since the foundation of all civilizations is a very large base of toiling slaves for the very few elites. this has not changed till recently due to the boom caused by fossil fuels replacing the need for allot of the toiling human labor and a some scientific research that shows, surprise surprise nature knew best resulting in people getting a more natural varied diet. though it's still a far cry from how we evolved to live.
well they probably did just that. except for the one pic where the guy was pixilated, it was might of been easier to just add tinfoil hat artwork and stats to a game running in a test world rather then manufacture those pics.
assuming that inovation won't solve a problem* is the safest bet. because assuming it will is like assuming you will win the lottery so you can pay the bill for that half a million dollor boat you just got using your credit card.
*note i do not define global warming as a problem, but as a human induced change of the enviroment that we must adapt too.

no fascism is the merger of the government and one or more corperations.

please be warned though the tickless kernel is still experimental and some software doesn't like being run on a tickless kernel.
