After watching those videos, I have retracted my previously firm belief that ninjas are mammals.
But this could change the very definition of what a "ninja" is, I mean we don't want certain circumstances where a Pirate could be called a "ninja" by definition, do we? It could upend several theories and debates as discussed on various forums & IRC channels!
The problem here is our definition of "Planet" is fairly ambigious to start with. Just as "baby" can mean a tiny human between 0 and 2 years old or your girlfriend.
Do I need to input password every time I [do something]
No, of course not, if you just sign up to MSN Passport (requires credit card) you'll have all the integrated password, billing and spam covered in one easy step!
Ok, so if everyone votes for Product X does that mean Product Y gets the kibosh? I mean, a service like this is only going to find out what most people already like, it won't have any benefits on determining future trends or selling niche products.
Also, to me this service sounds a bit like product research we already get annoyed with via telephone marketing polls, ick, no thanks!
"What are you people doing to your computers that you're breaking the plastic bay covers?"
Having been in and out of some computer stores and seeing some of the cheap ass cases they have there, it's not so much the PC enthusiast breaking the plastic it's more the plastic being thin and brittle and utter useless crap that is the problem.
I see a lot of those "alienware" rip-off cases at some chain computer part stores and cannot imagine how they stand up to any use.
People like shiny things, heck *I* like shiny things. But when I buy a case I look for some specifics that make things handy for me as a gamer:
-As mentioned earlier, cooling. The number and placement of fan mounting brackets is important to gamers.
-Flexibility. The reason why most gamers don't use those old beige cases is because we can't cram a terabyte of HDD, one or two video cards or a sophisticated cooling rig (water cooled, giganto Zalman, etc)
-Durability. Your case is going to be dragged around to various LAN parties, so you better be prepared to hit all sorts of trouble and survive.
-Weight. Again, if you are hauling your PC around to LAN parties you don't want to be dragging Godzilla's Pocket PC with you (at least I don't).
Looks is kind of a secondary thing, but for me I just want something simple, functional and hassle-free. Unecesarry doodads like plastic doors just get in the way, you really want front USB ports and other gizmos that will help you out AND look cool (if possible).
My case is the GMC Noblesse SE, which I have been dragging back and forth to events like Fragapalooza and home brew LAN parties for a couple of years now. Durable, easy to work in, not too gooped-up, a little heavier than I would like but otherwise great. And yes, there is a plastic door on this one I know but it doesn't get in the way or break off etc.
Let's say you're a company. You just bought 500 workstations from Dell last year, they are Pentium IV 2.1 Ghz machines with 512 MB of Ram (plenty for your company). You need to keep up with Microsoft Operating Systems because Microsoft will drop support for the OS version you currently use. Now you have to decide to "upgrade" to the older version of the OS or this new Vista thing. But wait, Vista has more stringent hardware requirements. Now as a manager do you buy more hardware (which has no appreciable value) or do you upgrade to an OS that may drop support in under 5 years or do you switch OS vendors altogether?
Doc Forbin, builds and subsequently fights his own "brilliant" operating system in "Colossus: The Forbin Project". Reminds me of every day in App Maintenance.
Y'know I've been keeping up with the entries in the Journal and I'm not terribly impressed with any of the new designs (what's with the micro-fonts and all thems fancies graphics?). I mean if I wanted a new UI and updated markup I just go to Digg;-)
As long as after all this I can still get the existing Slashdot look I'll be happy.
Absolutly, however there are far more "arcade" flight combat games than hardcore flight combat sims.
I enjoyed playing games like Crimson Skies, but when I wanted to go to the next level I found that most of the sims out there were aging, buggy and that had community level support (which was not enough).
If there was a serious flight sim out there today that delivered decent graphics and a good physics engine I'd be checking it out, that's for sure.
Ok, there are lots of titles like this out already (I'm looking at you LucasArts & EA). Whatever happend to good flight sims with real physics and realistic combat problems (i.e. can't engauge enemy because if you do you won't have enough fuel to make it home).
A good friend of mine used to play WarBirds (http://www.totalsims.com/) and used to tell such invigorating stories about how he'd be up all night with a map, a ruler and a caclulator trying to figure out the best route to bomb a historical target with his flight wing.
Wouldn't it be more fun to learn how a real WWII plane handled and what all the instruments did and get closer to the real experience?
I think that really depends on your job, like soldier or dentist or untrained physiotherapist...

I have to agree with this right here, some of the large clients I work with are just getting around to this newfangled "XP" nonsense, *if* Vista proves itself useful to the business world it won't be on those machines for anywhere from 3 to 5 years (hopefully, at least) and even then who's to say it won't get leapfrogged by more business capable OSs.
As another poster mentioned Vista won't make an appearance on any of my home rigs for some time (if at all), it reminds me of the Windows ME release; over-hyped and dysfunctional trash.
MSPaint, now there's some quality software. *cough*
Why is it that Microsoft has poked every pie except the realm of photoshop? You'd think that would be a lucritive market they'd want to destroy and absorb...

That's why I only drink rainwater and pure grain alcohol...

The real question: Is NASA having fun yet?
From the patent:
"System, method and apparatus for connecting users in an online computer system based on their relationships within social networks"
Isn't this called IRC?
Behold Technocrats! My mighty VCR powers allow me to FAST-FOREWARD!
Not that I watch, much less record anything on ABC...
I'm hopting the box actually looks like this!
If you have a game with unlockables that are fun to get you will spend the time to get them (I'm thinking of the Burnout series but there are others).
Hmmm....
No sir, I don't like it!

That's unfortunate, this case has been through hell and back with the door on for almost three years with no problems at all. :-/

GMC makes a great line of cases.
So correct me if I'm wrong but, it's just a math library for sale, right?
Don't get me wrong, new tools are cool, but can someone explain to me why this is newsworthy?
