I knew that slashdot was going downhill, but why are they posting stories about CEO drug use? Who really cares who uses which pipe to smoke thier stuff in. It's all about puff puff pass people!
I should have clarified some I suppose.. Certainly it was better than each professor with his/her own website, and much better than nothing online at all.. Was just saying that the layout could use some modification in the area of simplicity:)
the merging of two terrible web based systems for an even worse web based one.
Seriously, it's often so hard to find where a professor has put the file you're tyring to find. With so many different places to put things, it just gets students confused. Not to mention all the trouble one has to go to in order to find a specific post, send an e-mail, etc..
I don't mean to troll, but both systems could stand to see quite a bit of tweaking.
As a fan of the board game, it's hardly a 'night at home with the family' sort of undertaking. Games tend to take upwards of 8+ hours to play, and often times we end up quitting because after starting reasonably early for college age kids (i.e. 8-9pm) and finding yourself tired at 7:00am and no end to the game in sight.. I can't exactly see mom and dad sitting down after dinner with the kiddos to play the board game.
And while it's not exactly like the computer version, it's still fun:)
Giving Star Trek #1 is like giving Smells like Teen Spirit number one on any music countdown. It's not the best song ever written, nor is it really anyone's favorite. It's only there because it was a standard..
programers.. It's at the very very bottom of the site in small letters.. I quote..
"Sept 7th, '05: Technically, the maker is ready to launch this device but their hands are tied until the programmer is done refining the software. Please be patient."
But if they are going to be sued by every music company on the planet, can't they just declare bankruptcy and dodge the whole thing?
I've known of companies here in the USA that do it, though on a much smaller level.
There are plenty of Eletrical or Computer engineers that can't code well enough to do their dream projects.. Probably much in the same way you can't design a system well enough to create yours..
I'd try to find someone in another department, who is actually intellegent enough to design something fun, but that would require a great deal of software as well..
A good example would be some sort of robot that could be entered into some sort of competition, IEEE or otherwise, that would give you more credibility with future interviewers than I found a project on the internet and rewrote it. You might even come away with an award or two as proof you rock.
For all of the people who say that your project doesn't matter, they are in one sense right, but it *IS* important to do something that showcases your ability and you. Most people couldn't build an AppleII/e from the ground up, and while no one would ever ask someone to do that, most people couldn't. Show that you're willing to take on big projects, and can produce quality work. Remember, this will do more for you and your thinking than it will your resume. Interviewing when you are 100% positive that you are qualified to do whatever they ask of you is a big advantage.
You must go to school where I did. Evil parking Nazis would sit at meters that were almost out of time and wait for them to expire. So many bad memories of those people.
Shouldn't it be possible to equip cell phones with 802.11b equipment to create a giant mesh network.. Should make it a lot easier to get wireless out to cars and things like that, since in most places of the country, there's always a line of cars between base stations and highways.. Though that's not always the case here in Oklahoma. Still, it outa add a lot more wireless conectivity, not that SETI will appreciate it or anything, but the rest of the world might:)
Voom was terrible from the start.. It was like they rolled it out three to six months before it was ready.. At least here in Oklahoma..
At the time, I was working at Sears, and we had Voom and Dish Network.. When the Voom went out because the dish on the roof got moved, it took months to get someone to come out to fix it.. The Voom rep even came by when it was broke.. it took three weeks after she saw it, realized we couldn't see it without a demo, before anyone came to fix it.
The remote wasn't bad, but there were so many little annoyances with the guide and other things, that it was a hassle just to use the system.
Sure Voom had more HD channels than anyone else, but they were almost like made up channels, just for voom.. It was nice watching Soccer from some other part of the world, but they only had so many games, and they looped. The art channel was sorta neat, random HD pictures of stuff.. But who really sits down and watches that stuff? Several other similar channels.. all neat in their own respect, but all with a major lack of programming did Voom in.
Not that much work? Don't you think it's crazy that it even takes work to keep a computer usuable just because you use the internet on it? Don't let the problems that we've got today justify all the means you have to go through..
Why can't someone write a graphical easy to use system that uses the same syntax as this to provide small documents? I hardly think wanting a more responsive but functional UI is bitching, look at fluxbox and other boxes for great examples..
It seems the server that hosts the/cpu/(stuff) died.. the main site is accessable, as are other parts of it.. Maybe/. should have posted motherboard reviews instead!
As well as to the Hot Coffee Mod :) Though I'm not sure most slashdot'ers would know how to play..
Twice.

Sounds like you need to work on your arm/hand stamina.

It took me forever to get this..
dead + 1 = deaE (The hex number) The one here is you..
deaE + 1(your friend) = deaf

If I remember correctly the car drove over 90% of the trip.. I couldn't find a web page about the research, but I'm sure it took place.

It looks like a toy airplane.. With the wings out to the side and a big long tail :) I bet it'd float in the bathtub.
And I want it to stop all the Soviet Russia Jokes too.. And the ones about clods too..

I've one of these for years.. Made by Intel even.. It's called a... uhmm..
Oh yeah! It's called a Pentium with Winamp!
"So, what do you do when you and some friends are all getting iPod Shuffles? Why run a web server on them, of course!
I can help you get your free gaming system if you wanna help with my free ipod ;-) Lemme know
