I have never had a M-F 9-5 job so I really dont know what it would feel like. Current schedule is either 3 13 hour shifts a week or 4 10hour shifts and it rotates where we have to work every other weekend.
It sucks but it does have its upsides. It really sucks when were short a couple of operators and have to fill in working 5-13 hour shifts a week.
I have been working the night shift on and off for the past four years here and most of the time it just seems like a empty building.. But every once in a while you can look out the window of the computer room in to the hallway and see a shadow pass and no one here out there or even in the building..
I have walked down the hallway and had cold chills run up my back. The wost spot is when your in the bathroom and you can here doors out in the hallway open in shut and no one is here except for me and the other operator that has to stay in the computer room. (manned 24/7)
The worst account I can remember is from a exworker named Sheneika, she left the computer room and went to the bathroom,, about 3 minuets later she came running in to the computer room cussing the other worker for banging the hell out the the bathroom door.. Ted said he didnt do it ad didnt leave the room.
So they start checking the sercurity cameras. ( I work in a lottery office)
So they look at the cameras and watch Sheneika walk down to the bathroom and about 3 minuets later she comes tearing out of the bathroom running full steam back in to the computer room.. Ted never heard any noise but she said it was like some one kicking in the door.
Usualy when I come along a old case to a useless computer I take them to the shooting range and pump a box or 2 of 9mm ammo in to it.
Last time I did this it was a early 90's Gateway pc. Just so happen a group of WV state police officers were there and got the biggest kick shooting this poor case for a about a hour.

Its bad enuf that on some sites I visit to read information are so over run with banners and flashy gif's that there is only a 1.5 inch wide spot going down the page for the text.
I see this lasting a week before some some fellow geek writes a script or plug in to kill the adds...

I dont see UNIX dieing. Here at work we have 6 IBM R/S 6000 boxes all running UNIX, and will countinue so until we are out of bussiness, world ends, 2nd comming of Christ.
I could see our company making a switch from windows NT to a Linux OS for all of our office pc's and laptops but the main backbone which handels all customer transactions, customer database and shipping will always run unix.

I have a 2001 SL2 automatic..
On my usual trip from home to work I average any where from 25mpg-32mpg city + highway and a heavy foot..
Back in may I went to the beach a 480mile trip. I made 411 miles of that trip on one tank of gas, came to about 41MPG.
Can we please just Give Flordia to Cuba or somthing.
