It sounds to me that some here have never read books like Jurassic Park, Congo, The Stand etc, all of these start slow like B5 with the "good stuff" not starting until about half way through. People just need to learn that a good story always has a solid introduction acting as a foundation, otherwise it just falls apart (just look at the movies for Congo, Jurassic Park 2 & 3 etc).
I agree that the startup time for OO.o is a problem, especially on my Windows install. However I was pleasently supprised to find that the OpenSuse team seems to have been working on this problem.
On windows it can take up to 20 seconds to start and open a large file. On my new Suse 10 install, the same file is open in about 5 seconds.
Nothing peaves me off more about advertising on the Internet than thoses horrible inline ads.
That is until I found that the AdBlock extension for Firefox can block them. All you have to do is look at the HTML code for the page (usually at the bottom) and add a blocking rule for the ad service they are using.
It doesn't supprise me really. The Green party has a nasty habbit of blowing things out of proportion. I can still remember the time a National MP played a prank of them by informing them of a dangerous chemical commonaly found and sold in NZ that was responsible for about 100 deaths each year... Well next thing you know some of them were vocally calling for the ban of this dangerous Oxygen-Dihidride.
Just choose the Upgrade option. But be warned... I tried this earlier today without thinking and ended up seriously f'ing up my display driver settings so I couldn't see to finish the end of the upgrade and had to reinstall.
I am using a Nvidia 6600DT graphics card. I would suggest that if you use a propiatary drive like Nvidia's or ATI's that you either disable X before upgrading, or revert to a SVGA/VESA driver.

Just tel it that you are going to activate by telephone. After selecting the country, you will see a button that will let you change the Product Key. Set it to whatever is on the label on the box (the preinstall usually uses another key), give the number provided a call, tell them you had your M/B replaced (faulty?) and they will finish the activation for you.
Good idea, here in NZ there are farmers that claim that playing classical music to cows being milked actually increases the amount of milk you get from the cow.

All in all, I thinkg they could do with just a week or two of field testing to iron out how things should be displayed.
Sorry to say that with the work I've done in NZ schools the problem won't be the learning curve for the teachers (all they tend to is word-process and email anyway) its going to be the restrictions the ministry has on what are "suitable" school management programs.
Essentially all the ones that I have come across, rely on Windows. Given that these are not simple systems, I would say that it is going to be a while before Linux in the schools really takes off. Too bad as most of the CS inclined teachers I liase with (who often end up doing most of the admin work) are all for Linux in the school.
In case you were wondering, the areas I can vouch for are Nelson and Dunedin. The other areas, well lets hope they are in a better situation.

Damn, I'd be happy just to be able to see 10 to 15 metres in front of me at the moment. Smog is nothing compared to the pea soup we've been stuck in the past couple of days.
It raises a question though... if all you need is 10 to 15 min then how much time do you need if you do live in an area that has a smog problem?

Well without stopping to ask a chemist what h20 was, the Green party imediately issued a press release calling for a nation-wide ban on all of this dangerous chemical. Needless to say it would be rather difficult given that we are a nation of islands!

Check out the game Star Wars Battlegrounds. It has a bit of back-story relating to this. Essentially most Gungans lived above land. After a cival war which united the Gungan tribes, they made their capital the 'ancient' city of Otah Gunga... which is under water.
Actually you may have hit something there. This wont stop piracy at all, in fact anyone with a TV capture card will be able to do this and end up with better quality than would be possible from a camcorder.

No both are the same system. Not everyone has room for more than one computer. On that note it is an Athlon XP 2800 with 512MB RAM
