The police did the right thing. This guy is obviously a gamer, which means he is an expert in all forms of combat, including multiple styles of hand-to-hand martial arts, every weapon under the sun, and black magic.
"There are hardly any excesses of the most crazed psychopath that cannot easily be duplicated by a normal kindly family man who just comes in to work every day and has a job to do." - Terry Pratchett, Small Gods
But that's usually only in context (of following orders, etc.)
So what you need to do is unplug your computer from the internet for 30 minutes (or however long it takes for the session to expire) after each online banking session. And hope that the banking site validates session ids against IP addresses....
Now I've never used Facebook, so maybe I'm missing something... but status update? Are there many assassins scouring random Facebook profiles for job statuses, or did this guy hope one of his friends would do this?
From your link: "The notice from Amazon arrived at the workforce commission about 9:30 a.m. today, and said that the Irving facility â" which opened in 2005 and is known as a fulfillment center â" will close on April 13."
So the article says that the facility opened in 2005 and the uncollected taxes start in 2005. Your 2006 date is from a difference source. So you're picking and choosing which dates to trust from which sources?
I think the problem is not the fact that she wrote it (Free Speech, yada-yada) but the fact that it's now out that this is how she feels about the students. Would you want someone who hate's your kids to be responsible for their education?
And the company Anonymous is going after probably helps stop real security threats that most of us would agree merit stopping; not just Cablegate-related stuff.
Would you trust a mechanic whose engine just died because he screwed up his own oil change?
Huh? italics don't work anymore in either "Plain Old Text" or "HTML Formatted"? bold still works in both though.
Wonder if this is Taco's way of nudging users towards the non-classic Slashdot format (which AFAIK makes it impossible to directly go to your comment from your comments page.)
I was under the impression that gameplay plagiarism in video games was a time honored tradition, and is not illegal in any way unless the actual source code or data is plagiarized.
How many Angry Birds clones are there?
I can see there being trademark infringement here because of the name, but nothing else.
And yet lawyers fire these weapons at innocent jury members every day.

This has nothing to do with computers. She should be banned from driving for life.
Why do you need the neural scanner for that? It's not her mind we're interested in!

Wouldn't Twitter be better for this?
I've only played the first Postal game, which I won in some internet contest. Hated it, traded it away for The 7th Guest.
And yet, I will say that it is extremely cynical to judge any developer/publisher by something that the soulless entity that is Epic did.

I thought Tycho Brahe in penny-arcade was a real person.
link?
I'm pretty sure I saw a DNF trailer with a nude (or almost nude) stripper, so I wonder how they managed this...

Somebody forgot to take their cyberlithium this morning....
Nah, then Capcom would sue them for infringing on their business practices?
Use <em>
Great, thanks!

I've been putting off ordering a new modem since I have a feeling it won't solve anything and will just cost money.

444 kbit/s. I guess that's better than what most citizens have even when the internet is working.
Yeah, that's pretty much what my Verizon DSL tops out at.
Basically this means an acceptable method of FTL without involving worholes is to create a local space expansion wave to surf on :)
Obligatory xkcd
(if you think it won't apply to cops, you're being naive)
Unlimited, in the case of an unlimited data plan, is a reference to the amount of data that can be consumed, not the speed of consumption.
If the speed of the consumption is throttled to dial-up speeds (a guess), that will most definitely affect the amount of data that can be consumed.

ITT stupidity is a crime.
