    sometimes, spining a cd to fast will warp the disk causeing an uneven burn or even break it so if the increase the speed sturdier disks have to be made, but I think for only double the spead it shouldn't affect it to much.

    I wonder how hard would it be to do something to that nature by putting in a better motor and tweaking the firmware? There probobly a good reason it wouldn't work having to do with media, anyone know?

    Variation from the norm is often ideal, look at evolution. I see it more of a I-don't-understand-it-so-it-must-be-wrong-now-chan ge kind of thing. Ive never heard of a cure for happiness but I can kind of imagine how it would go, possible Im sad and jealous of your happiness so I kill your dog?

    I agree with him intirely. I have tried to explane this to others and the best I could come up with is if "Bob" is known for tripping and "Joe" trips and I say "Wow you sure pulled a Bob there" or something to that extent, Joe will probobly laugh but it is a real insult to Bob.

    Only impacts (stupid/old) Microsoft Windows users ^ would be more accurate. I've never had a problem.

    what about old smart Windows users, you seem to be implying that old users can't be smart.

    This may sound stupid but if it matters to you remember that MS isn't the only dos, if you like FOSS there's freedos. Also, since you said that your runing Linux as a native desktop Im guessing that the installation is not as minimal as possible, If you get rid of X and all that (this is considering its for a dedicated machine) and maybee try a modular kernel it would pribibly be much faster (insert distro propaganda here).

    If you buy it from Mandrake it's something like $55 and thats the power pack which has some propietary software. My best advice would be to but from almostfreelinux.com, It's $8.95 for 4 CDs with free shipping. I think it's a good way of getting it because it's a reasonable price and it dosen't take too long. I',m not sure about the Live Cd though..
