Indeed, this is really hilarious that an AOL guy has trouble discontinuing service with a provider... I'm betting that AOL was much tougher than Comcast back in the day
Several posts have alluded to high-availability, mirrored, load balanced, etc etc as being the solution to simply updating systems. The problem from a management point of view is to remain on guard when a patch or upgrade goes bad. Having turned into one of those 'old-guys', I'm quite sobered by the bad maintenance windows I've been a party to and will never consider unattended maintenance windows for my teams. It's better for me to schedule the work and let my folks adjust their work days to get to the maintenance fully alert and aware, and in full attendance for that time when things don't go as planned.
Indeed you are very correct, this government is become a dictatorship, abetted by a feckless Congress. It matters not whether you're lib/con or dem/repub, this is dangerous when the next changeover of power occurs, and it will occur. What the President has loosed now will be used against his party in the future.
Too bad my mod points are all gone now, you deserve +3.
Interesting to see how the fins managed the torsional direction while guiding the rocket laterally. Much smoother than the thrusters used on the DC-X demonstrator. Those flyswatters are a remarkable advance in stabilizing the rocket for touchdown.
CO2 is not pollution, it is a naturally occurring gas which is a key component in photosynthesis, which contributes to the greening of the planet. As well as the vegetation which I rely on for food.
I've had averages of 30,000 miles/year in my recent driving history, which is not uncommon in the western US. That would mean the battery would need replacement every 3.3 weeks or so.
Actually, his net worth did change substantially yesterday afternoon, given that the financial community values the LA Clippers at around $575M based on the recent sale price of the Milwaukee Bucks. Thus his net worth jumped nearly $1.5B and the Clippers have only been an above average team for the past 2 seasons.
It's a good bet that he may have surreptitiously arranged to have his wife play good cop to his bad cop, so that the NBA board of governors are painted into a corner. NBA is desperate to rid themselves of him and he is going to hold them hostage to the penalties, both the fine and banishment, such that the penalties will have to be rescinded in exchange for his signing the sale contract. He may not be liked for being a jerk, but he is a very clever lawyer.
One can only imagine how pristine the coastline would have been without this civilization despoiling the dunes. Seems the researcher is building his case that humankind has been disastrous for the earth for as long as it has existed.
Actually, SBC fell short of the goal of recreating Ma Bell. Bell Atlantic and NYNEX had joined up and eventually became Verizon, so there would have to be a merger of current AT&T with Verizon to achieve the reconsolidation of the old AT&T.
Actually, the company responsible for rocket engines is Aerojet, which chose to purchase RD-180's from Russia rather than accelerate development of domestic rocket engines. Recently they have absorbed what remains of Rocketdyne, so maybe they will begin building domestic engines again since Rocketdyne has been reviving research into the F1 engines that powered Saturn V launches in the Apollo program. Imagine the thrust an updated F1 could generate using modern materials and state of the art manufacturing.
Would this not apply also to sonar fish finders that seamen use to hunt for fish? That's quite the unfair advantage too. They'd have to retitle "Deadliest Catch" to "Mostly Futile Trolling".
I bought the entire 5 season DVD set and find the upconverted video just fine. It's like comfort food, remembering how it looked when I watched it on analog TV.
I'm not even that thrilled how much they know how to work the cash register, the last few times I went to RS it was a joke to watch the employee try to ring up my purchase. It hasn't been a place I venture into for at least the past 15 years; any special adapter cable you need is no longer stocked, or they are pushing the horribly expensive Monster branded junk. Of course I miss the vacuum tube tester and battery-of-the-month club too...
Isn't it about time a technical site such as slashdot started using metric units , eg kilos? You know, for the rest of the world outside the USA who has no clue what the hell 96,000 lbs means? Even in the UK hardly anyone under the age of 60 uses lbs as a measurement any more.
I vote for English units, thus the platform weighs in at nearly 6900 stone.
7. Every opthamalogist that I know hasn't had Lasik done on themselves, they still wear glasses.

There's a legal issue here: the executive can't just wave state law aside.
Really???? I thought the President said that all needs to make law he has in his hands : a pen and a phone.

That's where those flexible OLED screens will come in handy

Didn't John Holdren say something about needing to de-develop the US economy over the coming years? Luddites indeed.

This is even worse than the situation in China where it's reported there are 122:100 men to women.

Did she have Luca Brazzi standing next to Eich when she told him he cannot lead Mozilla?
Apparently so, but it wasn't America that caused it, just a miniscule rabble. And thus so sad for everyone.
how many range miles will be sacrificed to electrically amplify the sound of revving and shifting?

That's what happens when Sci-Fi become SyFy... so very sad...
