Those are becoming fairly standard, and it is quite common to ask for that part to be rewritten on an individual basis. I had mine rewritten to include a clause about being specific to company business etc.
this you do have to be carefull with though. Some places word contracts in such a way that anything you produce while working for them (or while on company time) is owned by them etc.
Well said. Digg is my first stop these days as well.. however I do still keep tabs on Slashdot. When there is a particularily interesting story on which I have something to say (whatever site it is on first) I come to slashdot to at least read the comments and discussions and possibly leave a comment of my own.
personally i think the only people i know who still use aim are a couple of people i knew back in HS and a couple of college buddies. Most use MSN for day to day.
(I use trillian so i can use my old accounts on the other networks for those contacts, but still most personal and business IM'ing is done ia MSN and just about all of those are stateside.)
I saw somewhere posted 57% AIM share. Most people seem to shy away from aol branded things these days.

How so? Slashdot things usually hit the next day or two after they appear on digg... and there if the users think they are newsworthy, it makes it to the front page much faster.
It is up to the users preferance anyones and what they are looking for i guess.
It is true that there is plenty of irresponsible journalism, but I think the point here is that this information was avail on the net. If they had used say msn search (god forbid) then google would have nothing to say. Why use its clout to pushing people for using the best research tool avail?
Fully agreed... i used redhat for a long time till they dropped the reg version. Then once again used fedora because it had the old redhat feel. Suse tried once.. good... looking forward to seeing and possibly offering my users what they might have to offer.
Make sure to ask around the office to see what other things people are expecting you to provide as well. It wouldn't be a nice surprise to find out that say... everyone is moving to voip or something 4-6 months down the road.
You should see the resale value here when they come to campus to buy books back.
"$5??? I Paid 75 for that!"
but as far as buying them online... more people at my college have been doing it as of late... but since you can only find out, at most, a week ahead of time what books you will need - not everyone can afford to wait a week or 2 into classes to get them.
Yes, I personally wouldnt want my information collected... i guess the real question is whether or not the customer who signs up for this card is told that this information will be collected. If they are - then it isnt a violation of privacy... if not - then of course it is and is a problem.
Forgot to add - but if anyone has stats on whether or not "music cdrs" are, good, better, or pretty much the same would be an interesting addition to this thread.
The way the post had orig sounded... was that all cdr's, but most particularly the "music" cdrs - were what was being discussed. It was that facet that i was commenting against. If it wasnt taken (or meant)that way i do apologize.
As for these music cdrs, I will fully admit that i dont know a whole lot about them this I have never felt like paying more for something that hasnt been proven to me as better.
That is true... I recently switched from a salary position to a salary non-exempt.
Now, like you said, there are far fewer emergencies than at my previous position since I would get to charge overtime for those hours.

So does Chicago have open wireless? (Traveling through there for work tomorrow actually... been a while since I have been through there.)
Judging from some I have seen though... put a lot of stock into the AP's name... sadly.
Exactly. I stopped bringing mine to class when I was in college for that reason. I found other things to do besides taking notes.
Actually it is a very valid point. People often wont talk about something if they aren't sure how to say it.

Ended up writing quite a bit about this topic here http://www.sgbtech.com/?p=125 . but basically there are different reasons behind the sites.

from a windows user... yes... yes it is.

http://digg.com/technology/Google_s_Next_move_ Heh your right... cause I linked to your blog yesterday! ah well... it was interesting... still is.

There is truth to that... people aren't comfortable if they don't know who to sue for sure.
the only problem i have had so far is the inability to pop other email accounts (school, work, etc)
I do hope google adds those in, becauase then it would make switching to gmail full time well worth it.
RedHat did dump the home user when they discontinued they home os and when to just enterprise distros.
Fedora is an spinoff that core redhat devs use to test things for their enterprise releases.
They weren't bashing fedora, just the redhat company, there is a difference.
(and yes i use fedora for my server os)
"He wasn't really hacking... he was really just being a jerk."
yea... the same think can be said about Mitnick... but he is a smart jerk.

Is it really invasion if the store where they signed up for this card notifies them of various things?

It is probably true... the political comments were what i was saying was off topic... not whether or not a particular person was good or bad.
