And he is ooooooout of here! Can slashdot users be considered a denial of service attack? Does anyone know if it as ever been argued in court that slashdot, drudge, or fark admins commited a felony by posting a link to a website...?
Have you heard of the oil for food program? Where do you think it all went? Are you aware Saddam and company decided to abuse the hell out of it? Instead of food and medicine, in came cosmetic surgery supplies. Yes, breast implant equipment.
At the convenience store: "I'm sorry sir, I need some proof you're 21 to sell you this battery."
I suppose they will have to chemically treat this stuff the same way they do with Isopropyl rubbing alcohol to prevent people from trying to get drunk off of it.
I think the tivo hackers would do that also. They'd probably use tvguide.com/listings or something similar if TiVo's guide stopped. I just don't see that happening though. I think they're going to pull it off. Hopefully alone.
I can see why a lot of people would think it would be a good match, but Sony is too big in a bad way, in that the DRM would get cumbersome and we'd end up with commercials we couldn't fast forward through, and DivX-like restrictions on movies we want to record.
You really do need to go ahead and get one. It probably sounds cliche to say, "It will change your TV viewing experience," but, "It WILL change your TV viewing experience.":)
It's a pipedream, but I always thought it would be interesting to put together a cordless mouse that has a few small solar cells in it that you could aim a laser (or maybe a focussed, white LED) at from it's little USB receiver and charge the batteries wirelessly that way. Problem is, solar cells are so inefficient, it would probably take a week or two just to get one charge...
Good point. But if, for example, those Iraqi drones were GPS guided, or some high-tech sleeper cell in the US or any other 'infidel' country were to have constructed ones that were, it would probably not be a bad idea to downgrade it everywhere for non-military users.
When the resolution (if that's the right word for it) was upgraded so that civilians could use it for accuracy up to 2-3 meters instead of 15-20ish, they were *very* clear that the resolution would be degraded when there were military actions.
Yeah, I used to do this when Winnuke was still a problem. Nothing funnier (at the time) than launching Win95 in VPC and then using "Nuke'Em" to blue screen it. Hours of enjoyment!
Geez. All allergies are *not* "in one's head." I'm allergic to milk and am forced to avoid anything with whey, sodium caseinate, etc... Eating at a picnic one day got me realllly sick. I couldn't understand what it is, so I looked at the ingredients on everything I'd eaten... The hot dogs had SKIM MILK as a doggone FILLER! That was it. Ok, so it served me right for eating a hot dog at all, but you get the idea. So how exactly is that psychosomatic?
Continued statistics like that, with economical impacts in the billions might attract enough federal attention to get some standardized laws across the board.
Sure, we'll still have to worry about foreign sources, but I'm sure the U.N. will be happy to help with this issue.
I think you're probably the only one that got my point. It really was tongue-in-cheek, but I wouldn't be surprised to see one of their talking-points people on Hannity & Colmes or O'Reilly, regardless of those three facts...
We can argue abou the wisdom of echelon, using it, or even writing articles in the papers about it... (Something I think is really not in our national best interest.) All I know is if I hear one word from the ACLU about this guy's civil liberties or privacy being violated, I'm going to start hoping they turn into cactus fertilizer.
First of all, let me say I've been a tivo owner since 2000 and I will remain one until their service is destroyed by networks and us users with our pirate guide-info sites are hunted in the streets for sport. I'd mod you up if you weren't already at 5.:)
Personally, I think that if the networks ever "get their way" and TiVo goes away forever as a company, the gloves come off and the hacker community makes TiVo their b*tch. And I mean that in the best way possible. RedHat TiVo! Yellow Dog TiVo!
There's not much point in upgrading from a t68i unless you've just gotta have the camera and polyphonic ringtones.
Someone mentioned unenforceable camera rules in theaters and the like. Add to that military personnel that will be unable to take this phone to work. I'd imagine intelligence agencies as well.
Nah. Someone will release a hack where you point a laser at it and decode the data passing through by the light bouncing off the string. Like getting the data through the LED's on a modem bank or switch
If it doesn't work, just put it in the wrong place at the right time, in the right neighborhood. A small cardboard sign that says "$30 w/o mouse/keyboard" stuck on the monitor would be a nice touch.
You're a nerd. There's not a damn thing you can do about it. I'll, err.. 'we'll' take care of Marc Jones later. Don't worry. Yes, those coaches really are what they seem. I thought that Sci-Fi said the ratings were fine, they just weren't *growing* enough to justify the high cost of production.

There's a difference between being brainwashed and paying attention to these issues. You've obviously confused them.
