Well, thats just because of all the junk you have on it. I defrag every other month or so, have to check my script, and then just do the routine virus/spyware scans, and uninstall crap I don't need. Works as fast as it does when I first installed it.

Thats how it goes. Personally, I jus have an older computer sitting in the closet with a 100gig hard drive, plugged in to my network. I only have data I need (docs, financials, email, etc etc), no programs or OS being backed up, and just robocopy it to the machine about every other day. Only changing new or changed files, and removing stuff that aren't on the source is simple and fool-proof.

Say there is a computer at his entrance. It says "Welcome" when you walk up. You type into it: "Can I come in and take your hi-fi?" And it responds with "Yeah, sure" and it opens the door for you. That's pretty much what happened I'd say.
Yea, thats the same as when someone leaves the keys in their car. A theif walks up and says "Hi, I see you wanna be cranked...can I crank you? Car says "Sure, crank it up, keys are here, so obviously I want you to take me for a joyride"....shut the fuck up.

My parents aren't the most computer savy, but once I spent about 10 minutes explaining how to update/run AdAware and Spyboy, and have them not click on the 'close' button on popups, but to use either ctl-w or alt-f4, they've been spyware free for as long as I can remember. But hey, idiots keep the market going I guess. And now, lets have the moderators mod me down...
