Thats intresting but, it's an apples to oranges comparison with IE compared to other browsers. IE is so fused together with Windows that you can't tell were Windows starts and IE stops. Maybe 10% of IE is tangled up in other Windows processes, maybe 50%, theres no telling how much is being offloaded.
If the files were only accidentaly deleted and this was noticed in a timely manner, why would it be so damn diffacult to recover the files. I've seen data recovered from a hard drive that was on fire! (not while they were recovering the data:P )
I use this trick, it works on light to moderate scratchs. What I do is apply a small amount of toothpaste to a sheet of printer paper, and use the paper like sand paper. This is a bit too abrasive though, so I always finish up by polishing the disk with a clean sheet of paper. Rinse in water and, good as new. Works better than any bought soultion I've ever tried.
Intrestingly enough I remember reading a study that finds the same correlation youv'e noted with the intelligence of men and women. (i.e. There are more male geniuses as well as morons, while geniuses and idiots are much more uncommon among females)
Outdated compression technolgy isn't all bad. What happens when you scratch a cd with some data on it? What happens when you scratch a disc with the same data compressed with a 3:1 ratio? You lose 3 times more information is what. All other things the same blue ray should load faster. Of course I still I wont support either medium as long as I can hold out.
That is because I was taught that if you didn't do anything wrong, then you should not be afraid to be searched.
When you consent to a member of law enforcment's search you stand to gain nothing and to lose everything. If they have to ask you "can I take a look in here?" then they probably don't have the authority to do so already. Always tell them that you "don't consent to any searches". You can't possibly understand every nuance of every law there is, and believe it or not even the most honest citizens can go to prison, be fined, harrassed, etc. It happens everyday, you only need to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Examples When you agree to a search you not only put your self in a dangerous situation for no reason at all, but you reinforce the idea that is in some law enforcment officials minds that they have the right to search anyone any time they please, leading to more searches with out evidence.
That video is called Busted: The citizens guide to surviving police encounter, and it's copyrighted, go on and watch it, but if you learn anything you should really consider paying for it at Flex Your Rights Any money you give them is a donation, any profit they make goes directly to some very good causes.
Yes, my point exactly. They could do it, but apperently it is more profitable in their eyes, to only release it for Windows Vista. I'm sure if they had decided it would be more profitable if DX10 ran just as well in Xp as they would make it happen.

"How much are proprietary format licensing fees pushing up the cost of consumer goods?"
14 dollars.
No not really. I won a stuffed monkey playing "Punch the Monkey" one time. I'm not joking!
Hopefully this will mean I can play windows media files without having to log in to a 32 bit chroot now.
That's truly insightful!
Not unless you completely expect to be doing the work the hard way and are suprised to find it's already done.
It's a P-P-P-PowerFridge!
I agree with most of what you say, but they should be able to get at least some data back.

HA! Women useing computers, next thing you know they will want to drive cars!
What kind of date format puts the number your most unlikely to need first (the year) and the one you will most likely want to know last.

On that note, check out my new favorite band Cobra Starship
Unless it's one of those fancy clocks with the date and junk.
More entertaining than both is the Developers Music Video
Hitachi has been doing research in this area for years. They are very good at representing complex systems visually. Check it out http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/research/recording_h ead/pr/PerpendicularAnimation.html !
Sorry, but I can't really comment on Canadian law. I'm really not familiar with it.

Even then your not really stealing the music, only the disc it comes on.
haha mod parent up

"Supporting two different driver model means more complexity and less things added to DX10 in the same timeframe."
Yes but, I don't really consider time frame a "technical reason" as far as this goes. Thats more of an economical reason, wouldn't you agree?
I've actually read about a group discussing the idea of taking a crack (no pun intended) at hacking halo 2 to work on Windows Xp.
