Scolds? Really? What is this, kindergarten? How about a nice hefty fine to make them take security seriously? Oh, I forgot, can't be angering the real bosses.:/
If there were no pirates there would be no need for anti-piracy measures
if the companies ignore the pirates they lose nothing because the pirates are not their customers. they are simply throwing away money on PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT THEIR CUSTOMERS ANYWAY!
if they focus energy and money on games that people want to play, enhancing game-play and then selling them at a reasonable prices, profits will soar.
Do you really think someone will look at a photograph in Wikipedia and say "Hmm - I want to hire the photographer?"
not an average joe, most likely, but a pro publication? maybe.
but then there would never be a thought to contact the photographer without the "promotion" from wiki. is that exposure worth nothing?
if a photographer wants to not participate, they're perfectly free to do so. in which case, wiki will continue with the photos they're currently running.
there's more than one way to make money off a photograph (or a song, or even a movie), and they don't all involve selling (licensing) copies of the material itself.
'To me the problem is the Wikipedia rule of public use,' says Jerry Avenaim, a celebrity photographer. 'If they truly wanted to elevate the image on the site, they should allow photographers to maintain the copyright.'"
Dear Jerry,
If photographers truly wanted to get their images seen in the biggest free encyclopedia in the world and reap the exposure and free credit, they should donate their works.
one of the best and quickest ways to judge a man's character is to hand him a blank check and see what he does with it. that's what full control of the executive and (a filibuster/veto proof) legislative branch would bring.
personally, i'd hate to be tempted like that as i'd probably fail miserably.
many people believe "Human Life" doesn't begin until after the state that embryo's are harvested.

and for those above who say that McCain will find some way to construe it as unethical, the pope has said that adult stem cell research is fine. Pope endorses adult stem-cell research (catholicnews.com) If the pope is good with it, i don't see any elected official having a problem with it.
"The possibilities opened up by this new chapter in research are in themselves fascinating" because adult stem-cell studies have pointed to actual and potential cures of degenerative diseases that would otherwise lead to disabilities or death, the pope said at an audience for participants attending a Vatican-sponsored congress on stem-cell therapy.
let them keep thinking that. I tried to convince a nephew that programming is cool, keeps you constantly challenged, makes the days go by quicker, like playing video games for a living, etc.

It's a quote from Futurama. Professor Farnsworth is at the horse track and his horse looses at the photo finish. actually it was a quantum finish. there'd be no problem with a photo finish.
I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
