  1. This seems to be stage one in the cycle of grief: on Microsoft Says Firefox Not a Threat to IE · · Score: -1

    Denial.
And it's hurting Microsoft. If they don't acknowlege that their product is inferior, then they can never hope to succeed.
Personally, there are three reccomendations that I would make about the next version of IE:
    1. Add tabbed browsing. This would really help with desktop cluttering.
    2. Security, security, security, security. This is one of the richest companies in the world. Surely they can afford to make IE more secure.
    3. Remove all of those damned icons above the address bar except for the back, folwards, refresh, stop and home buttons.
I know that many others have proposed these things, but can all those people be wrong?

Next time you post an article about a piece of software that could be considered less than well known, please include a description. I know that this is Slashdot, but by well-known I mean something like KDE, Gnome, Windows, BSD, Linux, GNU, Firefox, etc. It really helps people decide whether they want to click on the link, while in this case, because people did not know what Zope is, they clicked anyway even though they might not have cared once they found out. It seems to me that this puts an avoidable strain on the Zope servers, which isn't very nice.

Strangelove: "Mr. President, the technology required is easily within the means of even the smallest nuclear power. It requires only the will to do so...Mr. President, it is not only possible, it is essential. That is the whole idea of this machine, you know. Deterrence is the art of producing in the mind of the enemy... the fear to attack. And so, because of the automated and irrevocable decision making process which rules out human meddling, the doomsday machine is terrifying. It's simple to understand. And completely credible, and convincing."

Turgidson: "Gee, I wish we had one of them doomsday machines."

I think that a binary distro is one that has programs/kernel/libraries in a packaged format like .rpm or .deb. A source distro, on the other hand, is one where the files are distributed in an unzippable format.
