A lot of the effect depends on location and depth. In 2001 we had some quakes that got up to 4.0 and took out a lot of old chimmeys and stuff. One begins to rethink running out of the house during a quake after picking up 33 bricks that rained down:O We even had quakes that were felt but not recorded they were so localized and shallow. Kinda scary as there was and still isn't any real clue as to quakes here.
Of course that part of CA probably does not have any old chimmeys left standing anyway so.......
Is it the film or the processor that made my slides sucky? A couple batches did NOT hold color well at all. One batch looks like it is getting moldy or decompossing sitting in the same box as a batch that is not. I have a hard time attributing that to environmental conditions. Fotomat was especially bad but no idea what film i was using so may have tried something different.
Interesting that several sets of ready-made slides from Disneyland are the most discolored. Related to the plastic packaging perhaps? Gives a cool serpia look but rather do it with software it i wanted it...
In the middle of digitizing my slides myself...best of both worlds:)
Currently switched to regular color film, the slides are a pain to get processed.
"And questioning an assumption is too easily taken as a personal assault. So males get defensive."
LOL, because of scheduling problems i got stuck in the standard 10th grade geometry class. Not simply a male teacher...we got the wrestling coach who was required to teach SOMETHING. Puts the weeks homework on the board and then whines when my locker partner and i are playing cards Tues-Fri while he is still trying to figure out the homework he assigned.
Only high point was explaining vectors to him during class after he spent half the day bumbling around. Ok, maybe i had a bit of an ego too. But since i was in ground school at the time for my pilots license, vectors were child's play at the time and 20 minutes of wrong instruction was driving me insane;) I didn't turn out to be his favorite student for some reason....
I doubt anyone in that class came away with any warm fuzzy feelings for math...including the teacher, lol.
Some specialty accounting systems and such are written for it. Ours included the hardware and OpenServer. However, I think there were only a few hundred copies of this program sold split between AIX and Openserver and is not pushed any longer by the multinational that bought the national corp that bought the local company we bought the program from....
That company only accounts for a hundred or two SCO sales. While there are similar systems using it many have similar numbers. I just don't see much value there. We bought ours 5 years ago and doubt there have been but a handful of sales since then for this particular program.
I have no idea if we represent any ongoing revenue, we pay nothing directly and there is no interaction with the O/S.
And how much is the tax on the free minutes the employee used for personal reasons? Only one of the 8 or so cell phones uses all the minutes on business, everyone else has minutes to spare that are already paid for. Now let's try calculating the taxes when all those phones can share minutes.....
"General: USB socket is same width as RJ45 so you can slide a USB plug into the network port and it feels 'right', but gets you nowhere until you look and check!"
lol, just discovered that the other day trying to reinstall a box under someone desk:( Placing them a few millimeters apart was also quite helpful...
Seems to reduce the glare but still allow the color.
I have a fan control unit that can light up the room with the damn LED. It is NOT a reading light you #$%$# manufacturers! Had to paint the LEDs white for fear of blinding myself looking at the front of the computer with the fans on.
Ditto for the (newer) Crucial memory with the LED lights. Brightest damn thing in the room:/ Had to cover them up which defeats the purpose of spending extra on blinking memory for a clear case:( The previous (multicolor) ones were not so bad but the newer 4GB set i got is extremely obnoxious.
On the off-chance that i wanted to see this all the web pages in the world saying my ISP should buy it is not going to change anything. Unless they have some really awesome payment plan per subscriber with no minimum or base amount i suppose it is possible, but a suitable pricing plan is unlikely. I can ask the ISP all i want but i can't imagine them buying it for their (only/dozen/few dozen) residential customers.
Not offering me a way to get it would sure reduce any qualms about finding my own source...That doesn't feel like the best idea.
*ISP is a Qwest reseller that has not been on the reseller list for years. For all i know i am the only residential customer left although i could imagine there may be a few. Tech support is the usually the same guy that is programming their routers, not that i have called him in years:)
That might be quicker to implement than my idea of developing flying cats. Especially if i have to have the flying dogs already created to get the flying cats out of the airspace.....
Don't rely on the CC expiring. Sony managed to bill my expired Visa debit card for a Stars Wars subscription once. Turbine didn't for similar services. Not sure how that works but naturally i would have wanted it to be the opposite:( Got the bank to reverse after convincing them they couldn't explain it to my satisfaction why they let them bill an expired card.
Back on topic...
yup, that is barely a blip as a cost of doing business for them i am sure. Millions in subs vs $375k in fines is probably only a percent or 2. I don't see that they agreed to stop, nor any of the other bazillion companies doing the same. Just a feel-good deal for an Attorney General while the companies rewrite a couple lines of the EULA in CAPS....
All this about original IP and AC barely gets a footnote, while all the tolkien based ones are called original:(
Of course, Asheron's Call and it's fairly weak showing is probably what convinced the others to go for the brand recognition along with the standard character/monster sets. Some very imaginative stuff.

lol, that's the one that was annoying me lately. Try searching for info on ADVANTA cancelling credit cards. It assumes AND asks if i want ADVANTAGE something. It is ok to ask, but you ALREADY put those answers in the list AT THE TOP:( Itty bitty link at bottom for: I WAS RIGHT the 1st TIME....

I wonder if those are viable niches in any way?

That and the fact that at least some of the titles are not even out on DVD yet might be another clue....
And despite our summary (if jumping to conclusions was an olympic sport...every country would be trying to recruit us...) the Yahoo article does not indicate if the dog can tell a burned DVD from a pressed one. Look at the shipping papers... go from there. Not exactly complicated at that point even for a lowly cop.
more OT but at this this is more informative than the most of the other comments...

and for all the fools trying to whine....these guys were putting up RUSSIAN ads on very dubious sites. Now what clientele do you suppose they were seeking? The one white hat guy hanging out there or the 10000 black hats?

As for the OP, i can't thing of anything more interesting than previous ideas.:(
Not only that but WA must have the poorest collection rate on this possible. I would bet that no one that does not run a business has ever seen the form to use to submit use tax! Some states have a spot on their income tax forms for people to report this, WA has no income tax, thus no form. One would have to hunt down the correct form for individuals and fill it out with absolutely zero encouragement from the state...good luck with THAT!
I fill out the forms at work and have never looked for the personal version much less filled one out. I would bet the vast majority of the state has no clue it even exists. I suppose the state could ask every ebay/amazon/craigslist/etc seller in the world if they shipped anything to my address and audit from there.....except it would cost em $10 or more for every $1 they collect.
Maybe a little easier to check for digital, but then you would need to separate the truly free stuff from the pirated stuff and well that is probably not worth the $.09
They could send everyone a letter informing them of this requirement and the proceeds might cover the postage.....
Better idea for WA state at least................. STOP EXEMPTING MCDONALD'S FROM THE LITTER TAX.... invoice for consulting is in the mail....
Interesting.
After posting my other comment i hit back button a couple times to get back to the same spot.

"I'm told that $100 ATM machines do exist in a few casinos, but such configurations are exceptionally rare."
huh
If i take out $200 from the ATM at 7-11 i get a hundred and 5 20's. Which is a pain if most of that ends up back at 7-11 eventually :(
That said, i can't get more than that either. Now, the $5000 seems very unlikely.
