http://www.memorymedallion.com/ (I bought one for my Mother In Law's headstone) puts a portion of the monies into an escrow account to keep the servers running. I'm happy with the service and customer support.
that's what I saw the first THREE times I read the story. The third time I remembered it was Internet but I still saw "interest" - what are they not interested in? did they lose the interest from their bank savings? what?
hey, let's try that again - this time with gooder grammer:
Actually, Slashdot was where I first herd about it. It was just after the first plane hit - I seem to recall at the time it was thought it was a small plane. The second followed shortly with additional information on slashdot. CNN and even my local news web sites were offline.

I've been uploading wardriving stuff to WiGLE for over a year, using that you can actually even see the access point names and if security is turned on: http://www.wigle.net/.
I remember reading a few years ago about someone using one of those but it condensed vapor out into a garbage can beneath the AC unit. One day someone moved the can and spilled water all over the servers underneath it.
The last few builds of Xbox Media Center have included a add-on script for Youtube watching (that's where I first saw the "Pachelbel Rant"), not to mention the Launch.com one for music video watching. Incidentally, have you noticed that "pre-owned" Xbox1s are down to $99.
So we're talking no DRM, expandability and you can get the hardware for just under $100.
The great thing about the V7xx series is they have two lenses: one for normal stuff and one for 35mm. This is really a big deal because 35mm is so small you don't get the quality from it that is possible unless you have that second lens. The -M version has a fluid mount holder. Except for drum scan technicians, this may be overkill. Check out http://www.photo-i.co.uk/Reviews/interactive/Epson %20V700/page_1.htm for more info
there are patents on the BlueRay tech that may prevent legal players from doing both formats - the chip may support both but not necessarily the players
I'm surprised it took this long for a Star Gate: Atlantis comment to pop-up. I read "Pegasus" and "explosion" and *IMMEDIATELY* thought of Atlantis. Must have been Dr. MacKay blowing up half a solar system again.
Hey there Pete, I just wanted to let you know that *I* am going to be voting for you. Every opportunity I get, I explain to people that thanks to Orrin it's illegal for them to make a backup copy of their Monsters, Inc. DVD so that WHEN their kids break the disc they still have the original. I have to members of my family with broken originals of Monsters, Inc.
and let's not forget that it has support for asterisk. The list of contacts gets updated with who's on the phone, etc. and there's a pop-up with the caller ID on your screen (bottom right corner).

I literally laughed out loud. Good summary.
exactly. Just finished "Children of the Mind" - when I read the article all I could think of was Ender/Miro/Peter's Jewels
if you are freaked out by snakes, check them out http://www.snopes.com/photos/bugs/camelspider.asp
yeah, so it can climb and swim and stuff, but it apparently can't survive a good slashdotting.
"threesome" was all I could think of - kinda strange way to go about it though.
thing: war - the advisor dude from Star Wars Episode 1. Looks like the trade federation is coming for the Arabs!

doesn't matter what you want to call it, two computers connected to a local router/hub is a LOCAL area network.

I have a server at home, with over a TB of storage. I still use most of google's apps, especially Gmail.

After all, they are where we came from. Too bad we'll all be wiped out in an outbreak spred by unclean telephone sets.
Seriously, they do have this little windows update thing that sends out updates, I'm sure it's mostly trivial for them to fix the flaw
well, that's actually it - nothing more to see here, move along

sheesh, it's no like they're handing out .com's - there's just a DNS entry - chances are you have one already associated with your computer.
