..... but I don't see it mentioned in the comments. Is there mention of in-car navigation systems? As these become more prevalent these will cut into Garmin's sales too. You really don't need a handheld gps to get around in a city. Maps give plenty of info and with cell based location it is probably more reliable than GPS in a lot of urban canyons. Once you own a handheld outdoor recreation GPS though how often will you upgrade it? I'm still using my Garmin GPS V and that will continue to be fine for me until it breaks. I wouldn't think people upgrade their GPSs as often as they upgrade/replace their cell phones and Garmin shouldn't expect them to.
Another example of this phenonemon is stage hands in Hollywood who make a lot per hour on each film, but (predicably!) work only a fraction of the year, and get to claim unemployment insurance based on high per-hour earnings over that time between productions. Complete abuse of the system.
You are full of crap here. California un-employment is not based on hourly wage. It is based on quarterly income from specific quarters.
What I'd like to know is why the OP hasn't told us which retailer this is? It may not be illegal for them to shitcan negative reviews, but neither is it illegal for people to warn others that this is taking place. Companies have these dirty practices need to be punished, not by the law, but by consumers. People need to stop being sheep and inform themselves. Since it saves time to buy something over the internet, use some of that saved time to research the retailer. Make informed purchases, and patronize retailers who have earned your trust even if they charge a little more. If saving $5 on a product is more important to you than having a reliable and trustworthy retailer then you deserve to get hoodwinked.
Look, up here in norther California we don't like them southerners. They should stay where they are (and pay us for our water). The number of people commuting from NorCal to SoCal probably doesn't warrant a frickin' bullet train. Besides that would still be a 4 hour daily commute. We need more local mass transit, both in the north and the south. We need better routes and newer technology. A bullet train from SF to LA doesn't make sense.
It didn't seem like Robert Scoble was actually trying to DO anything. If you are trying to follow a bunch of idle conversations, what's the point? I'm pretty sure google wave wasn't supposed to be a "cocktail party on the web." Seems like it would be great to DO things from organize a group outing of friends all the way to collaboratively produce documentation for anything. With regard to "noise" if it doesn't have it already, It should soon have groups and filters and/or priorities to allow you to see thing you want and hide things you don't. If you insist on "chatting" with the whole frickin' world don't bitch about the signal to noise ratio.
And the protocol!?!? It sounds awesome too. You have to watch the last 20 mins of the video because I'm not smart enough to describe it nearly as well as they did.
Putting magnets under the skin is a horrible idea. Here's a test for you. Take that magnet and throw it in the dirt. Now look at all the iron filings stuck to it. Now imagine those iron filings burrowing through your skin as they make their way to the magnet. Not pretty.
What is your job description? You work in a start up that has/generates source code, but you don't have a CTO/CIO? You have people that generate source code but can't set up and maintain a LAN? Get some one who knows WTF they are doing first. Then they will tell you what to do.
I think it is rapidly approaching the time when a radical protest needs to occur. Seriously. Our public domain has been effectively stolen. Things that should be rightfully available to me (all of us) now via the public domain are not. Now this industry is attempting to go even further and renege on contracts that other party only agree to grudgingly. I really think that these industries need to be treated like the British East India Company was in Boston. The industry may not learn. The government will learn one way or the other.
Some one is going to make the argument that I'm proposing revolution over not being able to listen to music. If you really think about it though Intellectual/Imaginary Property is just in it's infancy. We're talking about information. While the RIAA and MPAA may only be concerned about keeping their pockets full with our money, think of the impact this could have on future technologies. I don't know what they are, but I sure as hell don't want them to, by default, be subject to the controls that these to industries are trying to secure for themselves.
Realize that these two organizations do not create ANYTHING that they seek to control. They simply want control for their own profit. The purpose for which these organizations were created is no longer necessary and their further existence is ONLY detrimental to our society as evidenced by their mass extortion tactics. They will no more go away on their own than Al Capone would have. They need to be removed.
I had to learned to write in cursive in grade school. It was a private school and we were even graded on "penmanship." Sissy-man-ship if you ask me. As soon as I was allowed I switched back to printing. I even took drafting in high school (before CAD was prevalent) and lettering was graded but it was block printing. Later, during my time in the military, my job required me to transcribe radio live transmissions. Most of us printed and didn't have too much trouble keeping up with speakers. A large part of our transcription was numbers though and last I checked there were no cursive numbers. If cursive was all that important there would be cursive numbers. BAH!
I've never played it, but it seems to me that a game where players get upset at some one for playing according to the rules is a bad game. Second if he was truly using an exploit then why didn't the developers patch it?
So if "the people" will be paying these taxes at the point of purchase than this is effectively a sales tax and mostly impacts those that purchase from these companies. This is the way it should be IMO.
There are two problems the way I see it. 1) Taxes haven't been used effectively/efficiently enough, and 2) Americans haven't paid enough taxes. If "the people" have to "feel" it more from paying these higher prices, maybe they will vote more responsibly and demand better performance from their politicians.
That is a bad plan. Where with cell phones, a minute is a minute is a minute, but with cars, unless we all have to drive the exact same thing, performance will vary. Some people will have enormous stereo systems that draw as much wattage as the car itself does. Some people drive up and down hills. Some people drive for miles on flat highway. One mile is not the same as the next. They can't reasonable cost the same to drive across. And before you even suggest it I don't want my fuel provider track where I travel just so they can charge me accordingly. Further, when I buy a cell phone I'm not just buying air time otherwise we'd all have the same nokia brick we had 8 years ago. The same is true of automobiles. My car is more than a means of conveyance. "Miles traveled" is not the only significant factor, and in some cases may not even be the most significant factor. (i.e. a disabled persons vehicle)
FTFA:"Think of it like this: we pay mobile providers for minute-by-minute access to cell towers connected together in cellular networks. Truth is, we pay comparatively little - or next to nothing - for the phones themselves. After all, what youâ(TM)re really buying is air time, not a box with buttons.
The same model works for transportation. Just replace the phone with an electric car, replace the cell towers with battery recharge stations, and replace the cellular networks with an electric recharge grid. Now youâ(TM)re buying miles, not minutes"
The one link in the summary isn't the only thing this guys did. This isn't a fluke, this is a true artistic talent. These mashup artists are getting better and better. Listen to the whole set then you'll be in a better position to appreciate and critique. I realize there will be those that do not like it, but if you have a shred of appreciation for music you'll have to recognize the talent. BTW track 8 is the guy explaining the project.

Now he really has a "fat head"
"To create the new bones...the medical team used a combination of fat-derived stem cells..."

hmmm I just did a search on google for the pirate bay and it didn't look like anything was purged to me.... maybe some one was full of crap.

There are no dumb questions.
But there are a ton of inquisitive idiots.

If I lived there I'd be changing my SSID to "Fuck off pigs"

This is Timex's shtick. Hey I'd probably buy a Timex phone if they actually made one.
No. If they are trying to do something stupid or pointless the deserve to be told so. Also people should read this before asking questions.
Specifically this poster should have read this and done number 5.
It should never be legal for a robot to "decide" to take lethal action.... Ever.

Why should the American public fund research that benefits the rest of the world?
Things cost less than the cost of their mats because the item cost is subsidized by the players in order to get skill points.
