  2. What is the value of the math itself as opposed to the value of the gold represented by real-world currency?

    At its very core, the ENTIRE concept of crypto-currency boils down to saying, "It would be pretty cool if we could make this work." And yes, it would. But that alone doesn't give it intrinsic value, and it doesn't give it the critical mass it requires to be considered a true currency on a level with the dollar, euro, yen, hell even the bolivar is more of a real currency - although for how long is debatable, true.

    Real-world currencies were originally backed by gold reserves and evolved from there.

    Cryptocurrencies were originally backed by geeks going, "It'll be the next big thing!" and haven't evolved yet.

    I would be fine with the updates if they weren't multiple gigabytes - there's such an incredible amount of waste of bandwidth in having Windows 10.

  8. I heard recently that one of the biggest museums in my country have serious problems with storage of art pieces not currently on display, to the point that valuable paintings are literally ROTTING UP in the basement.

    A private collector who just bought a rarity for over a million dollars is very likely going to take GOOD CARE of his rarity.

    I would assume that a fly is not smart enough to see from a distance whether something is natural fur and hide or an impenetrable blanket, so the scientists likely kept a close eye on the horses to see how many flies TRIED to bite them.

    That is what it MEANS, yes. But etymology refers to where words and phrases originally come from; it is entirely possible that such a phrase only becomes popular as archaeologists start indexing ancient clay and stone tablets and the like rather than being passed down through the ages since Babylon.

    Which threshold is that? When you can't pay for medicine? When you can't pay for food every day? Every other day? When you can't pay rent? When you have to tell your kids that there'll be food two days from now, HONEST?
