If they are afraid a map of a school encourages killings at that particular school, maybe the US government should to do something about that level modeled after The White House for Duke Nukem 3D. I remember playing that a lot.
You can play Settlers online against other humans or bots, the bots are at an OK level. check out jsettlers for more information. Or jsettlers.com.
Besides, you don't know anyone who knows how to play anymore, and you are only interested in teaching your wife? How about some non-wife people you know as well?
"Back to the memory allocation point. I currently know of no final year students with a decent understanding of this topic, and yet it is the main cause of security problems in code. They should at least have a working knowledge."
I feel the computer is old enough to manage its own memory.
There is a lot of things programmers don't do any more. One of them is writing asm. And why is that? Because schools don't teach asm as CS courses or because someone wrote a new language and a compiler for it?
Suddenly people could learn memory allocation and integer multiplication without knowing asm or the details below.
As someone once saw that creating c/other languages could leave asm for the specially interested, someone thought that a language with built in memory handling would be a good thing and leave memory handling to the specially interested.
You're dropped onto an island. There is absolutely no intro or clues as to what you are doing there. In another world at least you know some experiment went wrong.
That Myst didn't make it to the list just says that the list is flawed and should not be used for anything. IMHO.
Are you sure the wii water isn't warm because everyone is pissing in it, like in a public pool?
As a scandinavian i am always suspicious about warm water.
(actually, this started out as a public pool oriented funny remark, but as i typed "wii water" i realized it would be classified as a wii/urine joke. too bad.)
Actually, a story did make it a lot better. Super Monkey Ball 2 had a story, and playing through that game was a lot more fun.
It could also be because they switched from the insultingly easy "easy", ok "medium" and impossible "hard" modes to one campaign that got gradually more difficult.
It is like one of the british luxury car makers (bently, RR, aston martin, I forgot) who doesn't say how many horse power the engine has, it just says "it is enough".
I thought it was a good idea. If you can only scroll up/down and not jump to 'F', shorter lists are a good idea.
Showing all as default and have the opportunity to "arrange by name/console/year/etc" could work too.
As a norwegian, i can comment on this. Yes, we have a high income in general. But everything here costs a lot too. Taxes, you know. 1 litre of gas = 1.7 $. Full size meal at mcdonalds, 10$. A new car? 30 000$, and that is a cheap one. You are complaining about $50 games? That would be cheap.
But the good thing is hospitals are free. I got sick in the states once. When the girl in the reception at some hospital found out i wasnt a member (of this hospital/clinic or wherever I was supposed to be a member to get discounted prices) she wouldnt even talk to us before she found out we had travel insurance.
I never encountered "loading" during Meteroid Prime I or II. Given, sometimes the doors would wait a second or two before opening, but loading was never anything that interferred with the gaming experience.
This reminds me of a qoute I read at bash.org.
" The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?"
When Bubble Buble comes out, I will be happy. Until then.. it's Mario Strikers Charged.

(Maybe I should have posted this as AC..)

Clay Shot was easy. The ducks with their unpredictable flight pattern was tough.
And I was extremely dissapointed when my score just wrapped around from 99900 to 0. I didn't even make the high score that time.
Myst.

Why does it need to be updated all of the time? As far as i know this doesn't happen with the DS.
(this was not a pro-DS post, i am just curious)
did you just make a copyright infringement? :)
When did Slashdot become a safe haven for people like you?
Some swede just called us (Norway) the silliest country in the world.
But then we dont think swedes are particularly bright, either.
When confronted with this at a press conference, mr Adams said "no one makes jokes in base 13". It is a coincidence.
(or so i've heard)

Now if only we could get "nonesevent" as an official word too, that 76-year old british word-puzzle guy would be immortal for the rest of his life!

That game scared the hell out of me. And Myst III: Exile is the only game so far that has scared me half to death because something moved..
