I strongly suspect that russian name for men genitalia was used. Russians can say a whole sentence, which of course is unprintable, using only this word:)
Not exactly. Half of the list are just ordinary words with negative meaning. Lithuanian really lacks strong swearwords of lithuanian origin. So we import the majority from russian, some from polish. But this does not mean that lithuanians swear in foreign language. Usually some description is combined with foreign swearwords to make a satisfactory expletive. The curious side effects of this is that lithuanians can understand perfectly russian swearing, but not vice versa, and that some really bad russian swearwords sometimes can pass just as a salty language.
Sometimes I really envy other languages for having original swearwords, lithuanian ones for some reason vanished. I really doubt that they never existed.
I think the usual rule is that, you must earn the benefit of the doubt. I think Russia never even tried to do that for a period longer than a blink of an eye.
Yes, Georgians did attack. But the end result was the same, no matter what came first. The Germany invaded Czechoslovakia, Russia invaded Georgia (mainlaind not separatist regions). Everything else is just gravy. BTW the russian peacekeeper is an anecdote circulating among ex-Soviet republics, since the break-up of Soviet Union, UN-mandated or not.
Cannot agree more. I am a Tolkien fanboy, and I read practically everything what is there to read. The info about those 60 years in between is scarce. The longest passage is about Aragorn, how he met Arwen, and his serving in Gondor and Rohan. Also the banishment of Sauron from Dor Guldur by White Council. No hobbits. I dread to think what perverted imagination of Peter Jackson will come up this time.
That is the way of shortening in russia. Instead of taking only the first letter, they take first syllables. Godawful stuff. Here you have Ross short for Rossia, vyaz - I cannot decipher, okhran - it is short probably for okhranitelnyj (the one who protects), kultura - whole word culture.
You have an anger problem. That's why no one respects you. Or maybe it's your inability to defend a point of view without using foul language. Oh come on, I respect him. Natural pure anger at current situation. I sure can relate a lot. Ocasional fuck just makes more interesting reading:)
Yeah, I am also born in 1980, and wondered how my generation is called. Millenials are not bad, but according to post below it seems that we missed out:) We are still generation Y (whatever that is) and millenials are those who were born 5 years later.
Hurin wedded Morwen, the daught of Baradund son of Gregolas of the House of Beor, and she was thus of close kin to Beren One-hand. Morwen was dark-haired and tall, and for the light of her glance and the beauty of her face men called her Eledhwen, the elfen-fair; but she was somewhat stern of mood and proud. The sorrows of the house of Beor saddened her heart; for she came ans an exile to Dorlomin from Dorthonion after the ruin of the Bragollach. Once you know all the names and stories it is not so bad, and actually very good, since it gives a lot of information and context. If you do not know it, you just can skip it. When I read the book I am always interested in story, the descriptions can always be omitted. If you are reading these lines having read the story of Beren and Luthien, the first thought is hurrah more cool stuf:)
I will answer with the words of JRRT: I totaly agree with people, who say that LOTR is a boring and not interesting, I read their works and have the same opinion about them:) Not the exact words, but you should get the gist. It is taken from foreword to LOTR.
Aah, you've hit the head of the nail. Math and music do have something in common, but there is nothing mistical going on. But that does not stop people from creating various comparisons and drawing far reaching conclusions. The sad part that these people usually are neither mathematicians nor musicians.
Hm
The inability to use suspend/hibernate when you close the lid on the notebook. Depends on the hardware. On my Asus F3JP I have no problems to do that.
if you want wireless, you better be ready to manually edit the.inf file from a windows driver and load it in ndiswrapper. "native" wireless drivers for linux mostly suck, the howtos for linux wireless usually start by telling you how to blacklist them. Depends on wireless, with centrino it works out of the box with native wireless drivers. With ndiswrapper I managed to use broadcomm chipset without too much hassle.
mediocre video support: if you're lucky, you can view divx files and play MP3s. Maybe you'll have to hunt for ac3 support. But it's not as seamless as on a Windows box. Under what kind of rock do you live? Try playing random avi with windows media player on out-of-the-box windows. Never worked for me. On both windows and linux I usually install vlc and have no problems with viewing practically any video file. Video support for linux is surely not seamless, but for me it was actualy much better than in windows, where I always had to hunt for codecs, before finding vlc.
Since I do not watch TV or use photoshop or dreamweaver, for me Linux is an excellent choice for desktop. And for work Windows cannot even compare. Grep in directory? Not available. 60 simultaneous windows opened with no hitch, not available. Normal memory management? Not available. I can go on and on.
Fran and Philippa are on record as saying that Tolkein's Faramir was not believable. Having just re-read the series, I still think this is the most harmful change that they made Aaaargh. If the author created the character it is believable end of story. I hate when people try to "improve" the story. If you want to do that, write your own. Faramir interpretation in Jackson's LOTR was horrible. It was actually not interpretation, it was total rewrite. Tolkien's Faramir had the touch of the West, that is why he let Frodo go. What is not believable about that? As the time goes by, I find myself loathing Jackson more and more. I really would like that somebody redid his works in completely opposite way, because, you know, it is not believable.
Hm, as long it is monospace, no problems for me. In Vista Consolas looks nice, but in Linux it looks like bold, compared to Lucida for example. So for coding I am using Lucida in Linux and Consolas on Vista.
What is so interesting about controling computer with your brain? Everybody does that with the help of hands, yes, but if you take out the brain from the equation, we are just monkeys bashing the keyboard. Shakespear may come out, or not.
Decline, or hiccup? I think that though graphs are pretty, analysis is a bit poor. So South America and Eastern increased their presence, so? US still dominates big time. Also I noticed that in Poland, one of the top sites is google.pl. It is still US company site. What this analysis lacks is greater insight into those 500 sites. Also 500% sure looks impressive growth, but when you consider, that it all happens in region below 5%, it is just noise. I would like to see how the trends develop, three years time is too short to make any far fetching conclusions.
The average IQ of a mob is inversely proportional to the number of people in it To clarify the constant a bit, the average IQ of a mob is equal to the IQ of the person with the lowest IQ in the mob, divided by the number of people in the mob.
You forget Turin had a sister, who died young. His family was very important to him, that is why he abandoned Finduilas. Also remember, that he was under the curse of Morgoth. That is why it makes story more tragic, no matter what Turin did it ended in tears.
Ironically, both Middle Earth and Dune are epic tales of the original forefathers of our times (Dune less obviously, sorry for the spoiler). A magical time when a unique individual arrived to set the worlds on the path that led to today's mundane, if relatively safe, existence. Both Tolkien and Herbert themselves portrayed themselves as mere humble quoters of the original stories, originally told by the great actors themselves. Their stories resonate with generations of the public partly because we understand that great storytellers are part of great stories which are part of great ages, come once in a long while, and cannot bequeath their talents and opportunities to their children. Huh? Who is this unique indvidual in LOTR? And mundane and relatively safe times began after the end of LOTR, not before. No offense to Dune, but LOTR and Dune portrays totally different ideas.

beta=solve(t(x) %*% x) %*% t(x) %*% y,
NO, NO, NO!
beta=solve(crossprod(X,X),crossprod(X,y))
is much nicer, and it is less susceptible to round-of errors.

Not so with mine. With google more than 10 pages, mostly full of bug reports and mailing conferences, with cuil nothing.

Pie is pronounciation only used in English. Everybody else is saying pee, or pe:) Pee probably is not cool enough in English :)

Yes let us examine what ifs. I for one will check for sure for flying pigs and night rainbows if Microsoft releases its Linux desktop.
Yeah, good driver, good lawyers and whiny boss. I am sorry, but I do hate Ferrari, but love Linux :)
