The projects home page states that it "will let eligible U.S. citizens vote from any Windows-based computer with Internet access" WHAT? Making it harder for linux users to vote? (and as a result having less of them represented) Supporting Microsoft?
The real reason why they are using a bigger font is the same reason I 2.1 space my essays:
It looks like you did more work.
Oh well, I guess they will have to reprint every document made before Feb 1, as they are "unacceptable."

OK, basically all the replies will be:
1) SCO should die! I want the virus!

2) Viruses are bad! and illeagal!
I guess the article is informative if any WINDOWS user on/. is dumb enough to open an executable attachment, but as far as "news for nerds" is concerned, this seems just like another unessecary SCO story.
I'm sure there are probably a lot of problems with interference, but shouldn't it be possible to just get better walkie-talkies? Computers have their own problems too, and I'd imagine that any device you are using to communicate will have dead battery problems (unless you want to have 20 ft cords running all over the place).
I suppose that this makes having a good compiler a little more important. Compiling the same program for a G4 on a compiler other than GCC gave me a 100% speed boost. I don't know if branch mis-prediction came into play, but it had a conditional in its inner loop (it displayed the mandelbrot set).

What will happen if a fluorescent zebra fish escapes into the waterways?
Zebra fish are tropical fish and are unable to survive in non-tropical environments. They have been sold to pet owners worldwide for more than fifty years. Despite all these years of aquarium ownership, zebra fish are only found in tropical environments, such as their native India. However, it is important to remember that GloFish(TM) fluorescent fish are intended for use as aquarium fish only, and should never be intentionally released into the wild.
What if a fluorescent zebra fish is eaten in the wild by another animal?
For an animal in the wild, eating a fluorescent zebra fish is the same as eating any other zebra fish. Their fluorescence is derived from a gene that is already found in nature and is completely safe for the environment. Just as eating a blue fish would not turn a predator blue, eating a fluorescent fish would not make a predator fluoresce. However, please remember that fluorescent zebra fish are NOT intended for human consumption.
What will happen to me if I eat one of these fish?
Fluorescent zebra fish, like all ornamental fish, are NOT intended for human consumption; they should never be eaten.
This reminds me of what Bill Gates did with his house, substituting LCD monitors for paintings. While customized lighting is cool, how many people are going to pay even $100 extra for a window that becomes opaque when blinds just work. If I remember correctly, Gates had a whole pile of the technology removed from his house because it was too much of a nuisance.
My brother is on medication for ADD, and I had a real problem in elementry school focusing on my classwork. As I got older though, things got a lot better. There is a deal of variation in the way people think, and that just because someone works in a different way does not mean that they are "disordered." Right now I'm at the top of my high school class, but I don't know what would have happed to me if I got put on medication. Treatments like this would be great if they allowed people to deal with their own idiosyncrasies.
My uncle who uses this treatment has a bicycle "race" where you go faster if you generate a certain type of brain waves. He brought it to a family party and my relatives checked it out. The people who seemed to be best at it (who actually didn't have ADD) were ones who could meditate, did yoga, or otherwise had some experience trying to relax.
I've actually tried the sofware, as I have an uncle that's into this stuff. I couldn't seem to "train" my brain waves in the short time I tried it, though. And those sensors pressing on your head HURT after a while:(
What type of new technology will this bring us? While it's true that you can't really predict it before its invented, putting a man on the moon was done in the 60s. There was a ton more money spent on the Apollo project. What has the ISS given us?
This program is going to suck all the money from the REAL science that NASA is doing, just to make some popularity rating go up 5%. Humans aren't fit for space, and whatever scientific discoveries made are going to be 1/10th of what would be discovered with the same money in probes. What technology will be discovered trying to do what we did in the 60s? This project is going to die, and kill NASA with it.
At first I was almost ecstatic when I read the article. Then I renembered the ISS. No one will care about this project coming 10 years away, and that will kill it. Maybe this would work after China goes to the moon, but not now.
This should just make spam easier to filter out. Just run a spell check or grammar check as an aditional feature. The odds are that something important isn't going to have 25% of words misspelled anyway.

I can see that the author doesn't use emacs.
All you have to do is look at the numbers in the adjacent boxes.
People are so lazy!

The article describes Darl as "one angry man."
Aren't they supposed to use "mad?"

Bah, I'm going to hold out for a dual 64 bit laptop. With a RAID array.
It has a "high-capacity 8-cell LiIon battery." Still, no mention of batter life in the specs. Hmm, I wonder why?

They probably think it is radioactive because it glows.
The Center for Food Safety? People eat the glowing fish?
