This would be a good time for anyone driving a Google Streetview car around Mexico or working in a building that says Google on the front to demand duty pay.
... there are five essentials for victory: (1)
He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight. (2) He
will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces.
(3) He will win whose army is animated by the same spirit throughout
all its ranks. (4) He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take
the enemy unprepared. (5) He will win who has military capacity and
is not interfered with by the sovereign.
As long as Balmer is in charge, MS is doomed by (5)
Ballmer seems to be citing the ongoing (prior?) battles as areas where MS intends to fight... That's great and all, assuming MS delivers, but they should instead be focussing on the next battles.
There's the problem, their DNA isn't capable of figuring out what the next battles will be or creative enough to force the next battle to be the battle they want to have.
I run a website on the other end of the spectrum, Average age of the visitors is in their mid 60s, It's 68% IE, 15% Safari, 10% Firefox and everything else is in the single digits.
I can say with great confidence, that the IE market share is someplace between W3C's 15% and my sites 68%. I realize those are meaningless numbers, but they are more meaningful than the articles numbers.
The point is, reinforcing Fukushima would have been a waste of money and effort, money and effort that would have been better spent on building better flood barriers to protect places where people actually live.
The company decided a complete disaster was worth risking because it was only a once in 1000 years probability. Considering the risk, that was an irresponsible choice. Providing a robust cooling/shutdown system wouldn't have cost much more than the system they built. The plant would still have been lost but the gross amount of radiation leakage wouldn't have happened.
I don't see a lot of Windows 7 users switching to Windows 8, whether they are corporate or private customers. There just isn't any real advantage to 8 on a desktop or laptop.
The only way MS is going to get big sales with 8 is by pulling 7 off the market and making 8 mandatory on new computers.
That goes against the primary objective of computerized voting machines, which is to throw elections the direction the people controlling the function of the machines want is to come out.
I agree and would like to see the minimum hold time on stocks set at 30 days or a change in valuation of 10% or greater whichever occurs first. Then the stock flipping parasites could go to Las Vegas to do their gambling and the stock market would once again be only for investors.
I've traveled a bit myself, 45 countries (but not Russia). The nearly universal advice I'm given in each country is to keep my passport locked up in the hotel safe during a stay. I have never had my papers checked except when entering or leaving a country or making a transaction that requires identification. In those cases, I knew enough to have my passport with me. I do carry a photocopy of the 1st two pages of my passport just in case I am stopped, but have never had to use it.
If the people in the RIAA were running a brick and morter store association, they would be demanding legislation declaring hands illegal because hands can be used to steal merchandise from stores.

A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.

Kim needs to be careful and stay out of the US, embarrassing the US government can get you in more trouble than committing a crime.
That's not the long term solution, the Kiwis need to man up and install a government that puts NZ sovereignty first.
As to Sun Tzu quotes, how about this one:
As long as Balmer is in charge, MS is doomed by (5)
Ballmer seems to be citing the ongoing (prior?) battles as areas where MS intends to fight... That's great and all, assuming MS delivers, but they should instead be focussing on the next battles.

its not even political. its a scam.
There's a difference?

Right, in the same state that elected W and Perry for Governor.

Windows 7 will soldier on until MS replaces 8 with a useful PC OS. Just like XP did when Vista bombed and MS needed a couple of years to replace it.
He is giving another RIM job

HP stands for Halted Projects. Hewlett and Packard must be rolling over in their graves every time HP's incompetent management opens it's mouth.

Do you hear that sound? It's the sound of millions of far right wingers hyperventilating at once.
A better Windows 8/Car analogy would be that the emergency brake is in the glove box. The ceiling would be too obvious.

You should learn what "no one" means.
Than you haven't met some of the bigots that I have met.

FTRIAA and the horse it rode in on.
In a world where employees are disposable, it doesn't make sense to invest very much in them.
It's the tyranny of the uber vocal minority.
"Given the nature of most of those shows, is that a bad thing?"
If it's show that you or I would want to watch it's not a good thing, if it's just the other peons missing out then it's not such a bad thing.
