And decent chargers can do it in 10 minutes. I have a Rayovac charger I got on sale with 2 batteries for $25.00 that charges both batteries in ~10 minutes. Granted I am restricted to using the special AA batteries they make for it at around ~10.00 for a 2 pack, but charging in 10 minutes is more then worth it.
Hell I've charged non rechargable batteries in the charger and those charged up *ok*.
I just don't see any reason to use up 2 USB ports while draining my laptop's battery even faster then it's already discharging.
But again, you are not factoring in the circumstances that caused the credit rating. You are still using a blanket statement based completely on a score.
I would argue that air conditioning in the south is a necessities if you have children. In fact not having it can cause you to get a little vists from DCF.
Not really a huge difference to the argument, but a point nonetheless.
Oh I agree. Poor != bad credit. But those at the poverty level and below sometimes have to make choices that will affect their credit to "get by".
How can you penalize someone who may have messed up their credit score for this reason in the same way as someone who messed up their credit by being frivolous?
And how are you giving those in the lower income levels a chance to repair the decisions they made if you deny them better jobs because of those decisions?
If you do not give the potential employee a chance to speak on behalf of their credit score, it's discrimatory. Period.
Blanket statements do NOT work. I would think by 2006 we would have gotten past blanket assumptions.
It's another example of ways to keep the poor... well poor.
And I'm not typically the type to rag on that bandwagon. But lower income families typically do not always have the luxury of being able to manage credit. Especially not in a way that would result in a good great rating.
This also doesn't take into account things that were beyond the control of the potential employee. Unless you are going to allow potential employees to speak up for the problems on the credit report, then I see this as discrimatory.
Strike that. I find it discrimatory period.
I'm a damn good employee at work, but my credit rating is horrible. I've fallen on my face too many times and have struggled to get back up. I hold myself above water now, but not enough to even begin repairing my credit. If something happened and I lost my job tomorrow, not being able to find new employment isn't going to help that situation.
But, as what happens to other sites that have a "paid version" of an article, will Google still cache the full version?
I do google searches all the time that result in my ending up on a site that wants to charge me to read the article. I hit the back button and click on Google's cached copy and read the whole thing just fine without paying a dime.
That would make my day just a little brighter if Google ends up caching their own paid content.

How about we see some that are reliable in general?
My 256MB Lexar thumb drive has worked great for the past year of heavy usgae, but my 2 Memorex 1GB both failed after 4 months of usage. I'm currently using a 4GB PNY Attache thumb drive. I will agree it's flimsy and I don't have much hope of it lasting either. Hell I have a 16MB Dell thumb drive that is still working great even after 3 years of heavy use! Yet the larger ones always seem to have a pretty unacceptable failure rate.
I really can't see needing 16GB's of storage in my pocket when I'm having trouble finding usgae for the 4GB's I currently have. I'd like to see how reliable this 16GB drive is as well before I even think about it. It seems to me the larger the flash drive, the less reliable it is long term. I'm not sure why though, and YMMV.
Super Columbine Massacre (google it) is a perfect example of that. When I first saw it... I was disturbed. Now I find it pretty fun to play and doesn't disturb me in the least. It is afterall... a game.

I'll post. I've been homeless (and technically am as I write this) several times in my life starting from around age 15 forward (I turn 27 in a week). I'd say 12 years off and on gives me some insight here.
I've been homeless with and without a job, with and without a car and everything in between. Being homeless now is easier then it was the first time I was ever homeless. I may not be able to afford a roof over my head at the present moment, but I still manage to hold down my job and keep up with certain bills (unfortunately they outnumber my income and have to be paid, but that is another subject altogether). This time around though I was fortunate enough to have gotten a laptop from a friend just before I lost my address. I still have access to the world through wifi hotspots and can charge the laptop at these hotspots, work and in my car (I have a 400W power inverter connected to the cigarette lighter). The car isn't the greatest thing to sleep in, but it's better than places I have slept in the past.
I'm greatful for what I do have and I am greatful that tech today allows me to be a little more comfortable and not miss out on life while I have no address.
I will put in a disclaimer and say that I do stay with work friends on occasion, but most of the time it is me and my car. You learn to adapt and mask the fact that you are homeless... most people would have no idea that I have nowhere to call my own.
My first computer was an Apple IIe, but i wasn't allowed to have any games for it, so I ended up checking out every book I could find in the school library on programming for it. I spent many a late night typing in lines of code only to find out I messed up somewhere. heh.
My next computer wasn't until Windows 95 running on 486... after that I was upgrading that machine just about every other month. Eventually the only thing left recognizable from the old 486 was the case. I finally threw out that machine about 4 years ago.
Using mythstreamTV you can stream anywhere with a net connection as well. I use my mythTV box to stream recorded TV and Live TV to myself at work during ummmmm "breaks" *wink*
The best solution I could find for doing that with a Windows solution was using Orb.com, but the experience wasn't as nice and had issues with some firewalls.
I have 5 burned CD's I am looking at right now that have been stored very very poorly and still are readable. All 5 of these were burned 6 years ago. I see no sign of them giving up anytime soon.
Actually I would say wearing it creates the impression that you are the sucker that you really are.
C'mon, while being a cool "toy", this thing is pretty much already dead in the water.
From the article: "Devices which isolate auditory input to one ear are comfortable (i.e., phones) but splitting one's field of vision is highly disorienting..."
This is very true. Not to mention the fact it looks really stupid. Who is really going to adopt and use this thing on a regular basis in it's current form?
It's a start to something that may one day be adopted and used, but right now? I would declare is a pretty cool "concept" item. Nothing more.
That was my first thought as well. The Gamecube has a broadband adapter (i've sadly never gotten to use mine... but I have it.)
If they are cancelling the Gamecube version just because they have no central online service then would not the Playstation 2 version be cancelled as they have no central online service. XBox has the Live service so that qualifies as a central online service... but as far as I know Playstation 2 does not. Didn't we just have an article yesterday about how Sony isn't going to have one for the Playstation 3 as well? They are going to be running their own servers AFAIK...
so the whole argument of why they are dropping Gamecube support sounds like crap to me. Now if they had just said "Most Gamecube owners do not have the broadband adapter. We don't want to make our customers purchase this hardware just to play our game." I might see the argument as a little more valid... Hell I might accept "We just don't feel like doing it."
I'm going to bank that they don't hurt Google in the least bit. Google has a customizable portal that I tried using for a while as well. And honestly I ended up back at the original Google page (well truthfully I'm using the suggest version... I love that page).
When it comes to searching the web... I don't want a portal and I'm going to assume that most people don't care. Portal services I use Yahoo, but I never use Yahoo for searching I use Google. It's simple and clean which is what i want in a search engine.
Microsoft is likely to hurt Yahoo in the portal arena for me if they can match and surpass what Yahoo currently offers though.
But wasn't there a sequel to Serious Sam 1 the very next year after it was released called Serious Sam: The Second Encounter? I remember playing the hell out of that one. So why is this one called Serious Sam 2?
Yep IMDB shows it was released in 2002.
The Nokia 3300 is a MP3 player based cellphone that is not a PDA. But due to it having a QWERTY keyboard for text messaging isn't exactly "candy bar form factored"

Actually this is why I would never expect this tech to ever work, real world. I can never see "average joe" feeling comfortable with this idea.
I mean I understand the idea behind it and whatnot and it still kinda makes me nervous. How's the average public going to feel about it?
