OK someone needs to explain to me what qualifies as a troll. How is my original post listed as a troll?
Jesus, whoever gets to metamoderate this person - i HOPE marks it as unfair.
I may have phrased it badly. The application does not crash on its own, I have to crash it (task manager) because it is unbearably slow. If i shift out of the program to go to something else, when I come back I am sitting (longest time I sat was about 5 minutes until it caught up).
So most of the time I crash the program, and re-open it. Yes I think the program (PcGEN) is a bit clunky, but it is not entirely the fault of the program.
Java is uncool because it just eats up my cpu. I run a java program (PcGen) and the thing is insane in its resource use. I am also constantly crashing it. The fact that it can port from one OS to another - big whoop if it does it SLOWLY!
But the API's are nice (I am the eLearning industry and we utilize SUN LMS)
As long as its mine, as long as its permenant, and as long as it doesn't fail (that would really screw with my psche after about 20 years when i wouldnt know reality from virtual reality):)
My family can make appointments to see me, and they can walk in the door:)
You would think with all that technology, and thousands of terrabytes of hard drive space that the retarded ass computer would remember Picards drink. He always gets his Earl Gray hot!. If I was him I would say "Give me my damn tea you stupid excuse for a computer. Hell even Windows remembers my preferences!":)
Give me the holodeck, some real food, and seal me in there for eternity and I will be happy living the Cmdr Barcly (Broccoli) lifestyle....except instead of stupid fights between me and shortened versions of Riker, I will just be having mad sex with playmates, driving lamborghinis, and being rich and famous:0
lol!
While I agree and am very thankful that the people who receive this list are doing their job - a "know your customer" attitude helps.
People in those positions tend to have ID's that identify themselves. They are also walking around with security gaurds, etc.
If this was Joe Schmoe local representative for district 12WhoTheFcares, then I would understand - but a US Senator in DC no less...
By no means do i think this system should be scraped, but it needs to be worked on now, while it is still new.
While I think hyping ones own company is important (and required in this day and age) I believe that Google was elevated to a high status (both by themselves and the community) to such a point as to make them seem "saintly" (for lack of better words).
The initial estimates of their price created such hype and talk -finally it deflated, by a good amount (IIRC the initial estimates were up to 120 per share?).
I remember reading the articles last year, prior to Google going IPO - saying how important this would be to our economy - how Google would save the stock market with all the trading fee revenue, etc... And then came the articles that Google doesn't want to IPO - they want to remain "pure" and "uncompromised" by not having a board of directors and shareholders who would force them to become "evil." In the end, it was a great marketing strategy - playing "hard to get."
If anything, the whole ordeal tired me out and now that the time came, I feel more blah then what I should. Hmm maybe it is because its a "blah" morning for me - but I expected something more cool when I hit Google website - anything - throw the comman person (who won't spend 85/share) a bone:)
Those are my feelings - I do not expect many people to agree with me - but then, that is why these are feelings (opinions).
Thanks for listening
This is insightful? No offense to the poster, but I am sure they considered the environmental effects - especially considering the cost and effect of this project.
Now a better question - assuming that there are detrimental side effects (isn't there always), do they care enough? Maybe the detrimental effects to the lake outweighs the detrimental effects of the alternatives (the lesser of two evils)?
You tested it in a lot of browsers, why not Netscape? While you may not like it (and didn't like it) it is still one of the "major" browsers out there and has been for a long time.
Troll? Even Funny? I am totally legit with this question. With the list of problems that MS is having with SP 2 (CRM for one), they need a list of bugs that SP 2 created.
I never had a problem with 4.7. Loaded up quickly, viewed all the websites that I wanted went to (at this point in time i am pretty sure it was almost exclusively pr0n, but hey).
I did use Mozilla prior to Netscape (i remember being given the mozilla book with the disks to install):)
Then came I.E. shudder...now I am back to Mozilla (except at work, which I use IE for work reasons BLAH).
While Netscape is in my heart (well prior to AOL corrupting my teenage fav program) unfortunately netscape 4.7 was the last decent netscape. IE was so integrated that it flew past netscape:(
But in all honesty -why would I use netscape over firefox? Is there an advantage?
WHy? I don't know - that is something that MS can answer (security holes). But apparently the computer is left wide open for attacks during the install period (until it is patched).
From my understanding (which can be flawed) a lot of these worms are just blasted out there and hope to hit something.
While you are updating the computer gets slammed - that is unless you have a decent firewall (router firewall) - or at least you install windows (unplugged from the internet), install a decent firewall (zonealarm?) and then plug yourself to the net:)
This is also the first time I have ever heard anyone refer to open source as communisim.
Just because something is shared does not make it communisitic (i.e. free public libarary, our road systems, a kibbutz, public water fountain, etc, the Internet).
A very liberal use of the word communism to say the least.
There are pro's and con's to everything - luckily in this country - we have a choice ---- hmm kind of different from communism
Once you buy your car, you are consistantly pumping money to keep it running. The same thing goes for your computer. You can consistantly run your computer and have it work just fine (just like you use the same roads that were built with your 1920s car in mind). Try and run win XP on a 386 and you got problems. Then again, put a NOS system in a 1920 car and you will also get problems.
That 1920's car (which needed some serious work so it still runs today, unless it was treated like a baby) will work on the road- just won't be optimal (actually the 1920's car will have to be updated so it meets safety specs).
Here is a perfect example of you needing to replace your system - if you plan on running system diagnostics (i.e. Davis Driveright) you will need to spend a lot of money on your 1920's car or any car prior to 1996 (assuming it is even possible).
How long must MS provide support for its product? It has been 6 years - it has far surpassed its life expectancy. As for their source code - they created, it is their choice to utilize it how they see fit - and I am *SURE* much of their source code is still in use in XP - hence why they do not want to give it out.
that Linux will go into a rebellious period, wear goth punk hair, chains, and all black?
Linux rebellious? Oh wait...

Maybe they need to re-evaluate themselves and their standards...(DUH!!!!).

So anticlimactic. I am actually disinfranchised by the whole ordeal. At least the price came down a bit from the overinflated suggested ipo.
I was thinking the exact same thing when I first saw it---Beavis & Butthead came to mind "uhhh"
You just gotta love the representation of the 10 millionth post HA! So anti-climatic

a complete list of bugs CAUSED by SP 2?
Hmm I don't think MS has a big enough cluster of hard drives to document all those bugs.
This is also the first time I have ever heard anyone refer to open source as communisim.

I would say the Internet is a unique entity. While a vast entity - as far as I know there is only one Internet :)
