Most of the advertising agencies I've worked with beleive that banner ads and intrusive advertising simply do not work. The craze over exposure (how many eyeballs can I get in front of, regardless of the experience) has been replaced with an emphasis on targetted and uesful advertising.

THAT is good news. I hope it spreads.

The thing advertisers don't seem to get is that you don't sell products by annoying the hell out of people.

Unfortunately, this is not true. Rest assured that if it wasn't profitable, advertisers wouldn't spend the money on creating annoying and intrusive popups etc.

How quickly would a Firefox security hole be patched compared to a similar hole in IE? Not trying to troll, just genuinely curious if someone in the know could give an insight into the patching/debugging procedures for IE and FF, and compare the two.

This depends on the definition of "love". If "love" is considered to be a certain pattern of electrical signals in the brain or various concentrations of certain chemical compounds, also in the brain, it would be possible to scientifically prove that your parents love you by measuring the presence of these signal patterns and compounds when they think of you, see you, etc.

Love as a feeling, state of mind, yes, I think is impossible to prove or disprove scientifically, and I don't think you can (nor should) use science for that purpose.
