Makes me wonder how much money places like Kinkos has lost over the year due to people with friends on the graveyard shifts! I know several people who published zines for *years* that way. And that's just in a limited geographical area!
I realized today that I own enough music on cds to keep me happy for years. Granted a lot of it is 80s pop music, but really I don't have a need to buy more music ever. And since I don't listen to the radio or watch live TV, I'm unlikely to need additional music. And now if I hear some catchy rift in the mall, I'll never be able to locate it, so I'll just stay happy with my pre-2006 music collection.
Funny you should mention this. My Tivo occasionally goes insane. Generally it happens after my girlfriend watches lots of the stuff she likes to see.
The last time it happened, Tivo declared that I had to watch The Gnome Mobile.
Tivo would capture it.
I would delete it, and mark it with three thumbs down.
Tivo would capture it.
I would delete it.
Tivo would capture it it five time slots, overwritting my scheduled shows.
I would delete all of them.
This continued until I finally gave in and watched The Gnome Mobile. Tivo was happy, and it stopped recording that movie for me.
Now if that was something that happened once, or even twice, it wouldn't be a big deal; however, this happens about once every 6 months or so. I've learned just to give in and watch whatever master Tivo has chosen for me.
Oh, yeah, it is an old Series I Tivo that has been upgraded from 15 GB of storage. That should tell you about how long this has been going on!
Some of the same reasons that I'm switching away from Linux to OSX. Don't have the time to fight those battles anymore. *Don't* want to fight those battles anymore
My take on this is that the Cylons *aren't* ready to destroy humanity yet. Their goal is to bring about a repeat of history, but this time the Cylons will be the ones who are "God's Chosen".
Adama is very smart. He doesn't really belive, but he is capable of putting everything together. He is an obstacle.
I've watched the series all the way through seversl times, each time I've picked out a little more of what it seems the Cylons are trying to do -- either that or I'm just halucinating from the sleep loss.
The last episode was interesting, the cylons didn't attempt to stop the nuke. Their goal appeared to be much simpler, give Boomer an opportiuntity to get close to Adama while armed. Everyone was so pleased with how the mission went, that they didn't bother to disarm the raptor crew.
She got close and at that moment no one could have believed that she was a Cylon.
Of course I feel that I should point out that I'm not looking for 'deep' television, I mostly just look for things that strike me as fun. Firefly, Cowboy Bebop and Starhunter 2300 are some of the other television shows I'm enjoying, so you might feel the need to take some of my comments with a grain of salt!

I loved the implications of the episode. It showed exactly what the Cylons consider 'acceptable losses' in order to get their mission done. Mission: get an agent close to Adama with a weapon. Acceptable losses: an entire base star. Wow.
Perhaps we should just have a random assassination of developers and users until the level of fear has risen to the point that everyone chants in unison.
Ahh but what they are looking for in their data is how to reconfigure their stores on a store by store basis for every hour of the day to maximize sales.
For example, if you put the beer and chips next to the diapers from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm or so, you sell lots more of the beer and chips.
Wallmart has been buisly collecting sales data for years. At one point when the Cray C-90s were the hot item, Wallmart was considering linking 4 to 8 of them together just to mine their shopper data in near real time.
So not too long ago there was a good sale on drives
at Best Buy. Went into one store and the boxes all
looked like they'd been in a Samsonite advertisement.
You know the one with the angry sysadmin that smashes everything.
Well at least it looked like one of our sysadmins!:-) Needless to say, I didn't buy any of the drives.
I've been really amused talking to people about *my* water cooled computer. Generally the first question is something along the lines of, "Where did you buy it?"
They look at me like some sort of space alien (mind you it's computer folks I'm talking to) for buying all of the parts and getting it to work.
Don't settle for the plain silver one that seems to be everywhere. Order the special black one from their web site. So very cool.
I use mine on my tablet pc to move forward and back in pdf books.
Yeah, CRTs are cheap and LCDs are costing less and less but I'm mostly concerned with the amount
of electricity that two monitors use up when they are both fired up and running constantly. I
ran a 17" and a 15" CRT on my desktop for several years but recently I have switched back to just running one.
When I switched from a 24" Sony Tube and a 19" Sony Tube to two matched flatscreen lcd monitors, the drop in powerconsumption was noticable.
Now the only big glass left in my place is the TV. I haven't bothered to replace it because it works just fine for the little tv I watch.
I picked up one yesterday. Easy to set up and use. They'll need to have a wireless network, and a machine running itunes, their music demon, or one of the other three or so that are supported.
Yeah, the total package with the wireless network and everything else will be more than $20, but you're going to have to pay something to do what you want.

Snort. Now I've coffee all over my keyboard.
That's sort of a funny web site to poke around on! Lots of prostitution arrests!

Now my question is, are they watching old video tapes of Jane Fonda exercising or video tapes of an old Jane Fonda exercising?
Lol!

Who do you thnk is leading the evil empire's search for the rest of the gang? :-)
No, Roy Batty and his crew were killed off by Rick Deckard. AT
Any water cooled DLP projectors out there?
Perhaps with the release of the Mac Mini, Apple put a lot of effort into the software?
All of the additions seem to make it wonderful to use with a Mac Mini. Firewire capture support!
Rock on!

Where is The Tick when we need him?
Spoon!
So on the net, no one can tell if you're a dog, or if your christmas lights are really remote controlled. :-)
As long as you don't cross over a red/blue boundry. :-)
Cool Pictures. Any close up shots of your robot?
I'd be interested in reading more about your project, is there additional writeups available online or elsewhere?
In the photos it appeared that only the top of the cable was fixed in place. The bottom seemed to be free. Was that the case?

It was and still is creepy and Orwellian.
Isn't that insert favorite old country language for "Let me f*ck you?"
