ya gotta give it to those die hard Mac fans, where Mac invented everything first.
geez, now their just jumping up to Macs defense even if they haven't ever used the other product in question. But then again, what am i dumb? Its a MAC man, everyone knows they're better in every way. So why waste time learning about anything but. What was I thinking..
Well to much skepticism, I remember reading or hearing somewhere that there was a study done on crossword puzzles. They had groups of people do crosswords puzzles that appeared in the newspaper and kept track of the percentage each person got right on each puzzle. What they would do is have them do crossword puzzles that were a day old, yesterdays puzzles. Which no person had seen. Then they would have them do tomorrows puzzle.
The strange thing they found was that they were scoring higher on average for doing yesterdays puzzle. It is unknown why. It just seems like once so many people in the world have done the puzzle and have thought about the questions and answers, its somehow more easier to obtain what has already been put out there in the thought world. Who knows. But that is something that has always intrigued my mind. May that fall on some type of telekinesis? We may never know why.
whheeew, im glad you like the new ribbon interface. I got nervous there.
I really don't get it. Everything type of technology or product there is practically, you have a group that bitches about it. On one side you have people saying, "it sucks, i wish they would make it better and make this better. They are so behind. They never update their products. (IE anyone)." And then you have the exact opposite when a company takes the time to improve their products to all the improvements needed or wanted. You have the other, "Its to different. They should wait until everything is that way to implement something new. I don't like all these new things trying to make our life's easier because now i don't know how to do all the things i used to do."
To throw in a personal opinion here. I like change. I am all for it on so many fronts. I am constantly implementing new things to improve productivity and results. I guess i just don't understand people. Example, Microsoft's IE was a huge target for ridicule, not having all the latest features most other web browsers had by default. So Microsoft then implements them, so what do you get? Oh my god, Microsoft copied tabs from Firefox. They copied this, they stole this. You can take this exact example and apply it with Vista and OSX.
Look, technology is going to move forward all the time. And its going to move faster and faster. And guess what? When a technology is adopted by the general public, all companies must implement that exact technology/feature for any chance to continue or enter the market. This copying thing is going to happen both ways to all companies as more and more standards are set.
I wouldn't be surprised if sometime in the future, Microsoft is practically forbidden from implementing any new feature into Windows. When outside companies invent new and new technologies that become a must need for running a computer. So anti-trust suites fly if Microsoft even thinks about adopting it. I mean its happening with Security Software. I'm sorry but its a downhill for them. Unless we are forced to have unsecure OS's so that we are forced to buy anti-virus software. It could have happened with Windows Media Player. Personally, id like to by an OS that does everything, and does it well. It doesn't sound fun to buy an OS, then a CD burning app, then anti-virus, media player, dvd player, hd-player, blue-ray player, and all unforeseen future technology.
Bottom line, who cares what company did what. I'm all for any company making new products. Whether its Mac or Microsoft. So unless you would like to halt improvements and choose to work with how it is, even if there are many ways to improve it. Shut the hell up, it gets quite annoying. Because i have a solution believe it or not....... DON'T UPGRADE YOUR DAMN PRODUCTS!!!!!
You have your analogy all wrong. BayTSP is not providing the tracker. They are sending fake client connection requests to the tracker and then grabs the list of everyone connected to the tracker. So if you are to view this in anyway related to illegal drug use, which nevermind is flawed in many ways than 1.
You have to view the tracker how BayTSP views it......as a Drug Dealing House. BayTSP strolls into this house whenever they want, and sit on the couch. Then they just make lists of everyone they see come and go... at anytime of the day, doesn't really matter. Remember it's a drug dealing house, no one could possible ever be in there without ever doing or selling illegal drugs. (Hey, who were those couch sitters?) Even though they have not yet seen these so called illegal drugs.
Of course if they have seen illegal drugs being used and sold in a Drug Dealing House, that must mean they bought some theirselves. And it also means they used, otherwise they wouldn't know the drugs are real.
Then they call everyones Father (isp) that are on their list they made, with the hopes of intimidation will make them control their kids for them. I agree, we cant have a world filled with all this casual drug use and sex in the middle of the streets. Savages they are. Soon it all leads to raping and killing. Damn those Drug Dealing Houses, DAMN YOU!!!!.
I have a 1 Gb line running between my computers, and the top speed I have observed is around.1 to.2 Gb/s. Where is this very low bottleneck I am hitting? Is this in the HD transfer speed?
I'd love to know how many people go up to someone they dont know and offer to put their earbud in their ear. Not to mention the many people with headphones not earbuds. And certainly this crowd isnt going to be talking to a person of the opposite sex anytime soon.
Sometimes people idolize someone so much they always seem to see their words as gold. To me what Jobs said was kinda embarrasing. "Oh its the enemy.. must think of something negative about a feature mine dosent have." And im not saying this because im a Bill Gates guy either. Personally, I think they are both goofy looking fuckers.
I predict a future with wireless ipods, and wireless is just another expected feature.
I cant believe that was rated as a troll. I don't see how having an opinion that really isn't of the majority is so easily labeled a troll. I would rate the rater very judgemental and close minded.
I've never understood it myself. Why don't all the musicians of the world rise up and join together to form a whole new corporation that is run by the musicians for the musicians? The time is coming when musicians will stop being suppressed by big business.
It's just sad that the time until then, independent artists suffer. It's rare for new talent to be heard unless they sell their soul to big business. And this will keep lasting as the huge recording industries fight with every last cent as they go down. Resorting to any means necessary... like suing their own customers. And in the end it will always be someone Else's fault for their own demise.... never themselves.....no that would be preposterous!
I'm getting tired of people ignorantly giving up their rights in the name of "catching the evil doers". And of course the all mighty reasoning... "If your not doing anything illegal/evil, you should have nothing to hide."
When and why did this become acceptable logic? Do people not think ahead and picture the outcome if we as a society were able to catch anyone the second they commit a crime? The same system put in place to protect you from harm, now prevents you from ever being able to make a "mistake". A mistake defined by a governments idea of right and wrong.
Human beings evolve, grow, and better themselves by learning from their past mistakes. With complete and total freedom comes immense happiness and the birth of real tragedy. But must we all sit in detention because one kid threw something at the teacher?
I can already see this new format going the way of many past failures (ie. Laser Disk, Beta, Minidisk).
The timing just isnt right. Consumers are not ready to start embracing a new technology when they just barely started embracing dvds. Lots of people have just begun moving their entire collection to dvd. Yes there were early adopters of dvd, but for the majority it has only been a few years. To introduce a new and improved format so soon will only make consumers realize what a sham it is. By making them have to buy the movies they have already bought a second time (maybe 3rd).
This new generation isnt revolutionary. Its not a big enough improvement to get an entire industry to switch. And 5 years from now 50GB is going to look very small.
We need a new standard that can not only support our needs now, but that can sustain them for many years to come.
Lets see... to get 400GB(rewritable) in discs would be $480. For a decent 400GB hard drive today, around $225.
Already does this seem yesterdays technology.... and this is supposed to sustain us for many years?
I wonder when the recording industry is going to realize they are fighting a battle that cant be won.
I used to buy CDs constantly. And now with the implimentation of DRM on CDs and not knowing what type of software is installing when you insert a CD in your computer. I dont dare buy a new CD. I want to be able to buy a CD and encode it into any format i want to put it on whatever device i own. And until i really own the music i buy, im not going to spend my money on some music that might be locked inside their encryption. In 20 years my music i bought might be gone because I cant use it in new devices and technology, or with every new advancement in technology Im left converting my entire collection to some new and improved DRM format because of a firmware upgrade because a new bug is found.
Until I get to choose how I use the music I buy, instead of them telling me how, I wont purchase any.
There is a lot of symbolism and metaphors used within The Simpsons all the time. Personally thats only why I like watching The Simpsons sometimes.
Ive seen books written about the connection between The Simpsons and philosophy, although ive never read ony myself. Im sure theres probable even other books. But yeah, to me The Simpsons at face value are some of the dumbest talking pictures that occupy the mind for 30 mins so thoughts dont have to.
At the very end when everyone is running towards the couch, watch Bart and Maggie. You'll notice how when Marge runs in front of Bart, the video is sliced and shows footage of Bart already sitting with Maggie. Im impressed how well they accomplished putting different shots together. I think Lisa's character uses 2 different takes also. But hers is a lot more subtle because she almost moves in the same way on the second part.
Im sorry but it pisses me off knowing google controls many aspects that are dishonest. How much money is google making to fraud clicks? These questions go unanswered. There are many situations out there where people are running bogus sites and putting up ads. They get paid for bogus clicks along with Google. Google knows this. And until people become more aware and start monitoring the relationship of visits and clicks from google ads, google is going to take advantage of the situation as long as it can.
This is only speaking from an experienced point of view. Ive managed many Adwords along with much programing and server monitoring. There is many inconsistencies that are never brought to advertisers attention. But advertisers have no choice but to pay. Their company and business rely on those ads.
I just dont get the slashdot rating system. This idea has been posted many times before this one, and this one gets a better rating "5 Interesting". Now I dont feel so bad for having bad karma for so long.
Yes, but in the end things might turn out differently.
I just resigned from work also. I put in my 2 weeks and kept working as usual up until the end. And the day I left, they already started talking bad about me to all other employees. This has happened to me before. I dont understand it. But it always seems that employers want to make you look like the bad guy for leaving. No matter how hard I worked to make it a smooth transition.
So when employers could care less about our future and financial burdens by cutting corners around you any chance they get. I dont see why employees should be so respectful to corporations. They only care about one thing, getting more for giving less.
P.S. If you are one of the lucky few to be working for a company that really sees more important things in the long run.. like human decency (costco for example), hold on to that job with all you've got. You dont know how lucky you really are.
I actually just got this game this week. And to all anticipation and excitement for the next release of Burnout, this one was so very highly disappointing. I have Burnout 2, Burnout 3, and Burnout Revenge. So i can say i know a little about this game since i am a huge fan.
I got home, put it in and the first level comes up. I'm all excited. It says this challenge is 'Traffic Check'. I just need to hit into the back of cars going my way, to launch them forward and make them crash. My time is slowly running out, and the way to gain more time, is to hit the back of more cars...... Lets just say that, thank god the timer will only let you collect time up to 20 seconds. I had to actually put the controller down to let my time run out. It went on forever. I was just constantly running into thousands of cars, over and over and over. It got so boring and i racked up so many points that i passed the requirements by 20x. In the previous burnout, you were unable to run into the back of cars, because if you did it hard enough, it would make you wreck.
So i am very disappointed in this title. They tried way to hard to bring more excitement and entertainment to a game that already had all the elements it needed. They have gone past the point of some realistic feel to the game and introduced entertainment that only someone under the age of 12 could enjoy.
As for me, im going to stick to Burnout 3. Yes, it has things that are completly unrealistic. But it stayed a lot closer to reality. Which made it fun by letting you crash a car in the middle of a freeway, and watch 18 wheelers tip over carrying a load of fuel. It let you do things that you would love to see happen in real life. Its sad to see this game go the way that most great things do, into the over commercialised.
You could do that, or be pro-active and stop sending your email address to those sites that promise "Get 5 free pictures in your email every day!"
Heres an inside tip coming from a man of experience. They don't work, all I got was spam from then on.
But back on topic, it seems fishy that google is claiming that how they are handeling their signup is to combat people from using their service to send spam. Because Im sure they already have procedures in place that would stop/ban someone if they were to send so many emails within a time period. So by having an email address tied to a mobile phone number dosent reduce spam anymore.
If you'd ask me, I think its for another agenda. Maybe something they are planning in the future, or maybe to have even more verification that the person using the email is actually who they say they are. Getting rid of anonymity. And by this, they increase the value of the logs & data they collect and possess.
Where did I mention anything about being wrong? It wasnt yelling & it wasnt targeted at you. It was just a general observation of what I noticed after reading so many posts.
And then I threw in something to maybe help clarify so many people's misconception of wireless technologies and the balance between low power and high data rates. Its not always about the fastest data transfers.
Does anyone actually read the target articles anymore before commenting? Ive seen 5 posts already that were someone's brain process in action of trying to figure out what this so called 'ZigBee' is by reading over and over the story's description, so they can get the best smart ass remark out the fastest.
What happened to the days when pratically every comment I read, I could learn valuable information that couldn't have been obtained from just reading the article?
Oh yeah, and btw, this ZigBee stand alone radio can also be purchased with a USB interface when you basically want to easily communicate to your network of ZigBee devices. Otherwise, you'd probable be purchasing the small 1 inch zigbee module to integrate into any device you feel like controlling from your computer.
You wouldn't want to be purchasing these stand alone radios to just network your computers together.
Personally, I look forward to the day when I can control any electronic device/appliance from my computer. Or saving money by having any device being able to communicate to any other device I own. I can imagine a small window of capabilities. Maybe having my heat off all day during winter, and being able to turn it on over the net before I leave work. I'd love to be able to have a nice bubble bath waiting for me with my fav. tv show recorded from tivo ready to play once I get in. Then from the tv interface activate the coffee maker & towel warmer right before I get out. But thats all for my laziness. I'm sure with just a little time, someone could think of something more pratical and energy saving.
did you ever notice that wayne dosent even play the first notes of stairway to heaven? If i remember right, i think i remember hearing they werent allowed to for copyright reasons.
No matter what, the burden will always be placed on the consumers. If the manufacturers have to take care of it, they will just up the price of their products to make up for it. So it will always be a tax on the consumers. Wether it be a visible tax or one hidden by higher prices, will be up how you see it.
ya gotta give it to those die hard Mac fans, where Mac invented everything first.

OMG, I cant believe I'm reading this. Apple isn't vendor lock in? Next I'll be hearing Microsoft is open source.
Let's just see things for what they are. Do people really take sides so definitively? Therefore I must always defend mine and criticize the other?
