Google is in the business of collecting exceptional amounts of personally identifiable information. You use a gmail account? That tracks email content ads that are served to you. It also allows google to track every search YOU do when you are logged in and using google. Google checkout? Tracks where you purchase stuff.
Doubleclick uses cookies on your computer and what for? Frequency capping which makes sure you dont see the same ad 200 times, and creative rotation to allow you to see a series of particular ads in sequence. Plus the most they track of you is an IP address.
Google sounds a lot worse to me.

I lived a block away from the Hoboken, NJ garage. Getting your car in the morning or the evening for rush hour usually required at least a 20-30 minute wait. Police were required in the evening to direct traffic around a bunch of cars waiting for a robot to load cars.
Considering its the SONY Metreon theater in San Francisco, and they have a store dedicated to Everquest materials inside... you can see why they chose Everquest.
When the latest console wars began, the term AAA games appeared as a tool of fanboys.
What the heck is a AAA game? What makes it better than a AA game? or an A game?
Sorry just a short rant about a term I hate.
Sorry, but if you bothered to look up the definition for disgusting you would find out that it is clearly not a word solely regulated to food descriptions.
Did anyone actually read the "Did you Know" sections at the bottom of each page. They absolutely disgusted me.
Did you Know that you can buy Stars Wars on DVD Click here blahblahblabha.
Did you know that Episode III merchandise is now available, click here to purchase a poster blahblhbalhblhbalhb
Without the Force, a lightsaber is useless when I have a gun.
Why couldn't they do a how stuff works for a speeder bike, I have several Type-R racing stickers that are begging me for a new home.

It's quite scary to think about the complete reliance that many people place on two companies: Microsoft and Google. The allure of Google is now gone, as they have shown their allegiance to the almighty dollar.
I feel like this is the beginning of Independence Day. Google is placing their ships over all strategic points (Search, Webmail, Browsers, Maps, etc.) There is some secret countdown and once all the pieces are in place BAM! We will face a corporate wrath the likes of which we have never seen.
Research based institutions like Dartmouth like to be the first to do things. The prestige of being completely wireless is not to provide convenience, but to allow them to be one of the first to do something.
I have no idea what the Hong Kong boy scouts are like, but here in the US you will not find a strong criminal element (ignoring little boy pictures) that emanates from the Boy Scouts.
You don't preach to college students the benefits of higher education.
The Nobel Prize has been reduced to an advertising tactic for research institutions. Of course the more Nobel Prizes an institution has will propagate a higher caliber of researchers etc. It is nowhere near the idea that Mr. Nobel has a long time ago.
Unfortunately, it is commonly seen that upper management abides by the if-it-aint-broke, dont fix it mentality. With many systems there is a huge amount of pressure to fix bugs/ outstanding issues, once that is done they work on money-making initiatives. I see it as a game of Jenga. Pieces are removed from the bottom, to create a taller structure. Instead of reinforcing the base there is a constant push to make the tower taller until it comes crashing down.
When you go to a store, you do not want to think about it and return to a store to buy the item. If there is something I am considering to buy, I will usually buy it because I am too lazy to go back to the store to buy it later.
Thanks to Napster and other infamous P2P networks it will be next to impossible for the bad stigma of P2P networks to be lifted. Sure a SP2 torrent has some usefulness but bittorrent is not main stream enough for this website to accomplish any significant good.
There is a huge difference between virus/exploits and bugs and the lemon law. The Lemon Law applies to defects in the design and manufacture of a product, not necessarily to outside attack. A virus/exploit is comparable to someone breaking into your car. There is no way you can ever sue under Lemon Law because some robber found an exploit in your window that allows it to be broken by rocks and discarded toilets.
This is why all the new innovations are geared towards handheld devices. For over a decade Nintendo has been pushing handheld devices which really did not live up to the technology of the time. Their leadership in the market enabled them to curb innovation. But I view console gaming to be like the Slam Dunk Contest in the NBA. It's all been done, what else is there?

For the past year or so everything has been Google this or Google that. Maybe now everyone will stop talking about Google, and it will enter the same category as Yahoo etc. And the need of constant growth will move Google away from their core business as already evidenced with gmail. So instead of one strong focus, it will become one of many mediocre services.
This is a good idea if its only for incoming calls. By only blocking incoming calls people can still make their emergency phone calls. And if someone is making an outgoing phone call at the Opera then that is an offense punishable by castration.
So I say block the incoming calls.
I just don't see this as having as much of an impact that UltraHLE had. The average person does not know where to download Xbox ROMS, let alone have the patience to wait for the 3+ gigs to download.

According to the article on CNN.com, there have been about 30 million Xboxs sold world-wide.
But how will they be able to take my job if these computers have no processing power?
How soon before games can be copied and run from a memory stick?

I am going to move into outer space and have my computer run in the cold vacuum of space. Think about it, no dust particles to gummy up the works.
