  1. The ruins of the old Internet on Yahoo Pulls the Plug On GeoCities · · Score: 1

I saved a list of all neighborhoods , I'm really saddened by the decisions, because I think fondly of those sites. I know for a fact a lot of dead people left pages there, I remember a deceased five year old little girl that was fan of sailor moon. Romanticizing, I think of it like tearing apart the ruins of an old city because it's not worth the cost of maintenance.

I second that, I had tried like 4 or 5 times to buy the damn thing, one over the phone, and for some reason that order got canceled too. It's like they don't want my money (which the last time was CASH on bank account debit card that cost me a hell of trouble to gather). I'm getting tired of this so they better take care of handling orders more efficiently

  12. they're not that good, they have a terrible flaw on Wireless Bluetooth 2.1 Speakers · · Score: 3, Informative

The advertised wireless range is not accurate, I get sound with lot of hiccups even 5 feet aways, and then 10 feets away I get good quality, so the sound quality varies a lot and the speakers are kind of picky. Also the 24 battery life must not be true. I use rechargable batteries, that may be 6 months old, but they die pretty soon while being inside the speakers (9-11 hours). The one thing that really annoys me is that I HATE the fact that the remote controls doesnt work unless the application is opened and is the current window. If for some reason something takes over (like screen saver) they wont work. That sucks, every multimedia keyboards that I know can pause and play music even if the music player is minimized and youre doing something else.

It doesn't stop there. Everything has always been step by step. Remember playlist burning or sharing? It was unlimited (sharing) , then limited, then limited more. So what keeps apple from updating iTunes with a "mandatory" upgrade (ie awesome feature or new product support) that forces the mini store or the data mining?. Don't be naive.

Just a correction, its not java based DRM , is Java based interactivity , the sameone most of the set top boxes and mobile device have used for years and that microsoft sees as a threat. Microsoft wants Blu-Ray to use their competing last minute iHD interactivity , that will be integrated with Vista , so that are his true motives And people , please stop confusing slow java applets with a robust and well executed Java languange.

  18. Re:bad for consumers on Blu-Ray The Flavour of The Moment · · Score: 1

In contrast with Microsoft propietary garbage and DRM? Everything is propietary on both sides , and everything would have DRM on both sides. BUT , on HD-DVD side, a flavor of windows is needed (media center pc , windowsCE .NET) , and thats why MS is backing it up. Im not being rational on prefering Blu-Ray ADDITIONAL measures (ROM mark , watermarking) , but I hope they can be cracked and I dont want Microsoft shaping and controlling (most likely crippling) yet another technology on other plattaforms just because they dont want cross plattaform competing java to succeed ( which is understandable , but then again microsoft is in a monopoly position)

  19. Re:A God Has Fallen? on Blu-Ray The Flavour of The Moment · · Score: 1

I sure hope so. Microsoft just wants their iHD included because they dont want to support Java. java is well established in set top boxes, mobile devices, and the like , and Microsoft sees that as a threat. Microsoft just cares for iHD and then Managed Copy just to make windows the hub for that..if Blue Ray has is, then they dont care who wins. PC manufacturers just want to jump on the windows side and cash in of course , its business , and has nothing to do with customers. Personally , I hope Sony doesnt give them the advantage to control and shape yet another technology, cripple other plataforms and burden customers. And about Managed copy, we dont know how well thatll turn out: How many copies? can they be streamed simultaneously? in a day? what if I have a big apartment and I stream to the whole network? can they change terms? will it cost? in what format? which player? who gets the license fee for the DRM? Will they track my copy?
