Wouldn't it be nice if the timeslot crap disappeared from the fate of a show. sigh...

    AMEN brother.

Also this needs to also go and cover the situation between radio stations and record companies. Do you know that radio stations have to PAY the record companies per song, despite the fact that the stations is doing multiple services for the record company. They track songs, tell which are good, provide free advertising for the cd, and usually provide encouragement for people to buy the CD's.

This new WOFO group would make it free for radio stations to use ANY song as long as they provide those services mentioned above!

  6. Courtesy WIFI? ;D on NYT: Making Free Wireless Wi-Fi Internet Pay · · Score: 1

You know, many GOOD businesses provide various courtesy services to make them happy. The easiest to show is that many businesses all around provide courtesy coffee and hotchocholate and a waiting room. This is just to make their customers happy.
I also know quite a few places that when getting a car worked on or something, wash and detail your car for free. There are quite a wide range of options availiable I have heard of to give customers perks.
FREE Wifi though at a business is actually taking that to anouther level. Not only could a customer be a little happier in the waiting room surfing the web, but quite often a customer can use say a PDA and WIFI to reasearch info regarding the business. May help them decide what they want to get, may enable them to contact family, friends, or other shops for valuable info. Or conversely send info to same, such as "pick me up while I get my car worked on". Etc...

May not be an idea for micro-small businesses, but may be a good idea for smaill-medium established companies on up.

  10. Pebble bed nuclear- an option on Creator of the Gaia Hypothesis Urges Nuclear Power · · Score: 2, Informative

Look into the reasearch into Pebble Bed Nuclear reactors. They are a safer replacement to traditional nuclear. NOT perfect but much safer. Of note I believe there are two types. One which the pebbles have a special coating and others which are a mix of special material all the way through. The latter is safer I believe.

That combined with Fuel Cells, Solar, and Micro Turbines could move us a step forward to meeting energy needs.

I still think they have caught on to something. Notice that both Futurama and Family Guy (previously canceled) are now being picked up again by FOX. This apparently due to cartoon network getting it to a larger and different crowd. Running twice a night at different time periods helps get a wider audience and may be more convienient for people. I suggest running at 8pm and 2am.

That and don't run it on fridays.

  16. changes in shows on UPN Renews 'Star Trek: Enterprise' · · Score: 1

You know every show of Trek is a different flavor. Your not going to like all the flavors all the time.

If you don't like the current flavor, the best way to get what you want is to write down what you want in a flavor (show) and send it to the Trek empire, Trek fan groups, and possibly your own website. That way the next incarnation may be pleasing to the pallete, OR the current show my have a flavor change (Much like the change in DS9 when they changed production companies in '96 (if I recall))

I think that wouldn't be so bad if they used an airing system like ADULTSWIM on cartoon network. They run a show three times a night and their timing lets them catch all the night owls. If UPN replayed the show say at 1am and 3am they would catch everyone coming in from a night of fun. Drunks like scifi too!

The areas I can see getting much attention are radial blimp shapes, computer aided control and station keeping systems (reducing problems from the wind by being able to adjust control surfaces and vents to keep blimp stable and in right place), reduced weight and flamability due to new materials, and different propulsion/control systems.
