One thing often left out of embryonic vs adult stem cell conversations is who supplies the stem cells and how much they can charge. When adult stem cells are taken from you, you are charged for the procedure(s) (taking the cells, growing them in the lab, reinserting them in a new place) sort of like a skin graft. Embryonic cells are provided for you and sold to you as a product, with procedural costs on top.
There is much more profit to be made with the embryonic cells, which is one reason they get all the attention and lobbying support (of course they get negative attention for other reasons) even though much more real success had been made with adult stem cells.
What if I told you I specifically see atheism as intellectually lazy/bankrupt, because if you think it through to its logical consequences it simply doesn't make sense.
from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Shuttle_extern al_tank):
Development of the ETs thermal protection system has been problematic, and has proven a fatal weakness to shuttle mission safety. NASA has had difficulty preventing fragments of foam from detaching during flight, ever since a 1995 decision to remove chlorofluorocarbon-11 (CFC-14) from the composition of the foam in compliance with an Environmental Protection Agency ban on CFCs under section 610 of the Clean Air Act. In its place, a hydrochlorofluorocarbon known as HCFC 141b was certified for use and phased into the shuttle program. The "new" foam containing HCFC 141b was first used on the aft dome portion of ET-82 during the flight of STS-79 in 1996. Use of HCFC 141b was expanded to the ETs acreage, or larger portions of the tank, starting with ET-88, which flew on STS-86 in 1997.
They used to use different materials to manufacture and adhere the foam on the external tank, but environmentalist groups got their way and now we have a riskier space program.
iTunes has shown that if you make it easy and affordable to purchase downloads, people will. I think the price should (and could) be even lower. I think amazon's new investment (http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/08/08/16592 23) is a great idea.
The problem isn't with frequencies higher than 22K, but 44.1K sampling can screw up a sine wave as low as 6k signifcantly. Check out http://www.mother-of-tone.com/cd.htm for some good graphics describing this.
I know that the ISV my wife works for sells an accounting package. Even though most of the code is there for the next client, it still needs a lot of work to adapt it to their needs, so it's not just a copy and paste install. Also the first client didn't pay the full share because the company knew it could (and would) sell to more clients. It's not that the first guys got a bargain and the company has no business sense where in fact business sense tells them that they can't charge different prices to different clients or the first client thinks (and should) that they got ripped off.
I'm excited about this release mainly because UbuntuStudio was supposed to come out with Feisty. I'm looking forward to having a maintained and stable realtime kernel for audio work
But the pay rate is pretty low for the work load already. Most "qualified" people make too much money in the private sector to want to run. That leaves people who know how to get kickbacks and bribes to run so that they can make a good bit of money.
I think you could have a much more honest congress if we paid them MORE and limited terms
I think constantly about how Mexicans are treated back in the US, and I honestly have to say I can't imagine that there is anywhere in the world that welcomes immigrants as well as the Dutch welcome high-tech people with valuable skills.
How are we treating the high-tech Mexican immigrants with valuable skills? I haven't seen that story on any news outlet.
Yo! MS Raps - that's comedy right there

One of my favorite groups, Switchfoot, just got out of their Columbia deal to go independent.
Who gives a shit if they are Rep or Dem - use common sense and do your damn job

energy isn't free - by turning the turbines, you're taking some energy from the current. Maybe it's insignificant, but there is a loss
but the turbines will reduce the current - who knows what effects that may have.
That's the media answer. That message conveys that NASA is sure that the astronauts are in no danger to keep the reporters from going ape shit.

People should quit whining over logical errors. Nobody is perfect.
I still want one

whose first priority is to the human race?
even with anti-aliasing, the amplitude modulation remains

there are a lot of products where the R&D costs are well above the per-unit cost and the R&D expense is spread over the sales of the line.
How else do you sell software? Do you charge the first guy $1million and everyone else pays $1.50? That's retarded!

on SAMBA, just begin to set up a share and synaptic will download and install the SAMBA components.

Seems this info should come out right AFTER an election to give sufficient time to put a new process in place for the next election

What?
It took me a few times through - quotes around a title would be great, guys
