50% of the web would to break the moment IE8 is rolled out. Isn't it kind of nice to have the option as a webmaster to cause IE8 to render it the old way until you've had a chance to undo all your IE6 kludges and prep the site for IE8?
I feel like his brother now. He too has been LITZ twice in a multi-hour pinball gaming session. The question that I really want him to answer is "did you achieve that using bang-backs?".
People avoid new operating systems for very good reasons. But I ask this: What kind of stability and performance could you expect from Windows XP now, had MS had invested the last 8 years into improving it rather than making a new pileOS(TM)?
The point is, yes, XP is the best Windows OS to date, largely in part due to the sheer amount of time that MS has been slowly patching and perfecting it. Why should it be shoved aside so MS can peddle their latest POS?
If I remember correctly from one of my quit-smoking tries, this is exactly how the nicotine patches worked. Nicotine delivered my thousands of miniature needles.
So... what's new here exactly?
What I remember is that there was a contest included in the original boxed-distribution of the game (C64, I think). If you sent in a photograph (ha - yes a photograph) of your monitor showing that you managed to get the water flowing through every available tile on the board and pass the level, you were entered into a contest draw for $1000.
I would definitely pay good money for a modernized Quake I.
Quake I is still one of the most fun and 'arcadey' feeling 3D shooters. I actually just reinstalled it a week or so ago and I've been having a blast. Nothing I've played since it came out has equaled it in terms of its tight feel and pure arcade style fun. No other game has ever quite captured the awesome feel of its rocket- and grenade-jumping, nor the ridiculously fun turning-in air Mario-style control. Not to mention the beefy and raw sound effects.
Painkiller almost recaptured what Quake I had, but it was unfortunately a bug-riddled rush job.
First 3 1/2 meaningless minutes of a man wearing an iPod costume wandering around, then the most feeble attempt to discuss the history of music-based video games.
Whoever paid for this slashvertisement just threw their money out the window. I mean come on, shouldn't a proper slashvert be at least remotely engaging?
I know this because I've tried to return other games such as Ubisoft's Splinter Cell series which don't work on my PC due to the shitty SafeDisc protection and they said "NO".
I bought the first one at EB Games, having heard nothing about it. I guess the box art grabbed me, so I picked it off the shelf and though I'd give it a whirl.
Well I was absolutely horrified. The set up of the game was so vile and disturbing to me that I could not bring myself to play it.
I brought it back to EB, told them that they shouldn't even be selling a game like this and that I wanted my money back. The manager quickly agreed and gave me a full refund.
Head office must have sent advance warning that any open-box refund requests should be quickly granted on this game. Curious to know if they're going to take a position this go-around and not stock the sequel.
You can do stuff like this with TinyURLs, so we at least have a clue where you're sending us. The regex used for their redirect just ignores everything after the last/.
Like my circa 1996 US Robotics modem... the instruction booklet helpfully suggested that if I couldn't get it to work, simply visit their online support center at www.usrobotics.com.
I work in the lottery industry and we have similar practices for all new employees. Even existing employees need to have a criminal background check every 2 years.
These, among many other seemingly-overboard measures, are to protect our business, our clients, and to maintain our ISO standardization.
I gave my old clunker away on Freecycle. I was so happy to get rid of it, I actually *drove* it over to their house!
The only way to make any computer *truly secure* is to encase it in wax and send it into orbit. And even then...
That's completely baffling, considering that an OS is an application.

Hahaha thanks :)
Quote away, my friend!

And all this time I thought numbers were a great way to convey version information. Stupid me!
I don't have mod points today but if I did, ++ for you good sir.
If I don't see advertisements, how will I know what I'm supposed to buy?

I would think that regardless of the actual value of the car, reducing auto theft would subsequently reduce:
Maybe in the US, but definitely not in Canada.

Yeah, I forgot that if you try to get real work done on anything other than a Mac, you're pooched.
Give a man a fish (é) and you feed him for a day.
Teach him how to fish (ALT+0233) and you feed him for life.

I couldn't, and I couldn't.
No, this should not raise a red flag.
