I am absolutely enjoying this mod of UT2K4. Just played through the tutorial and will probably hop online later tonite. The AI for my teammates is average nothing exciting, they did what they were supposed to do. Will see how they handle the SP missions later on. One of those alien species moves very quick so its nice that the teammates are able to track them and kill them before they overwhelm your main player.
The mod communites that pop around PC games never cease to amaze me. Ever since Wolfenstein 3D & Doom I have been totally awe-struck by the level of innovation and creativity that mod creators contribute to well established games. These are the people that make games like UT and Quake have a prolong lifespan in the lives of gamers like myself. Congrats to Black Cat Games for an excellent mod for UT2K4 and just in time too! I was getting kind of bored with the same old onslaught, CTF, and DM. Now this mod breathes new life into the game!
Get "Linux In A Nutshell". Every Linux admin should have a copy of this wonderful book around. It is a great refernce book that has helped me numerous times when I forget soemthing or wanted to view more info on a certain command but didn't want to wade through the man pages. There is also sections on bash, rpm, and other things you may find useful. For the most part with regards to security just keep all software installed up2date and don't run unneeded services. And don't forget to check the logs and document every change you make to the system and you should be fine.
The Phantom may not be vaporware no more...

but IMO it is still "ghost" until I actually see it on store shelves. For some reason I just don't trust Infinuim Labs to actually deliver or succeed due to their hyper-sensitive-lawsuit-threat of reaction to HardOCP's article questioning the legitimacy of Infinuim Labs new console. Still awaiting a comment from HardOCP reaction to the appearance of the console at E3 though.
this whole arguement of letting people with illegal copies of Windows OSs have access to Windows Update for patching. I mean can't they just point their browers at Microsoft.com and search for the patches that they need and download them manually? There is nothing to stop them from doing so right? The benefit of purchasing a legal copy of Windows is that you get access to their Windows Update Service. I highly doubt that those who take the time to buy or "steal" an illegal copy of Windows will still take security seriously and will still get hit by future worms and other malware. Many home users of legal copies of Windows still don't "get it" so this will probably only put a dent in the problem. At the end of the day I guess Microsoft is more worried about people switching to Linux/*BSD(more so Linux though) then people using illegal copies of their OSs.
I can't belive they are shutting down their San Francisco to move to Los Angeles! This outsourcing from the Silicon Valley to Hollywood must stop now! I live in Los Angeles and I am for one am dumb-founded by this move! By the way does anyone have the fax# or email address to Comcast I have a resume to send them.;)
Don't they realize that the Tooth Fairies job is hard enough and now they have to deal with these counterfeit teeth popping out of nowhere all over the place! Think of the Tooth Fairies will ya!
Installing Debian with the old installer is simple. There are countless tutorials on the net to help you in this endeavor. This article from OSNews works very well --> The Very Verbose Debian 3.0 Installation Walkthrough.
I think people tend to trip over the selecting of modules they need to get certain devices to work. Also I guess newbies might have been intimidated when reaching the point to selecting packages with dselect or tasksel. I tend not to use that and just do a clean minimal base install and "apt-get install" what I need.
IMHO I prefer the old installer to the new one. It felt like a right-of-passage getting through the installation the first time and on subsequent reinstalls(practice makes perfect) I can install minimal Debian system in less then 30 minutes.
Linux is not ready for "12 year old John gets a Linux CD and installs and is ready to go",
Neither is windows or really any OS that requires user input for the installation.
The limitation of Linux is ease of administration and software/hardware support.
I doubt most windows users could properly admin their machines let alone installing it. Lack of software? You need to be more specific as Debian GNU/Linux has +9000 apps in stable. Lack of hardware support can be attributed to the lack of Linux support from hardware manufactures.
This site should just slap 1337 speak all over their site right now and get it over with, because that's about the level site they are.
Very true. I mean kevin is the same person that thinks p2p, IRC, and ftp is the "darker side" of the net!
He treats GNU/Linux like it is some sort of uber-hacker tool. Its hilarious, annoying, and sad at the same time.
The thing that really bugs me is that he's presenting this stuff like it's really new or unknown. Sure, it's unknown to some script-kiddie wannabe who thinks they are 1337 because they can bring up a DOS prompt in their WinXP...
Yes it is well known that kevin's real hacker skills include Google and ripping off articles found in 2600.
Go in the forums sometims. You will laugh your ass of at the discussions.
That is the truth. Those who are not so easily fooled by the lame dork tipper image expose his fake hacker skills on a daily basis.
If he takes over as host of the show I will stop watching.
I could not get the damn humvee in UT2004 to even turn at all.
Just use the right & left strafe keys to turn with the ground vehicles. Took me a few minutes to figure it out after driving straight up a hill and half way across the map.

It's the sound of a thousand Windows Script Kiddies simultaneously committing suicide now that kevin has been handed his pink slip.;)

"The Tooth Fairy has just filed for bankruptcy, more news at eleven."

Its true! Matter fact I will go out on a limb and predict its death between June 30 of 2006 to June 30 of 2007. It has already been resuscitated once, just put it outs of misery now and let it RIP!
Can we trust Microsoft? Their officail service packs have been known to cause problems before.

Maybe that is due to emerge having not finished compiling itself yet...
Just post your email address on
Of course not! Infinium Labs Phantom console will come bundled with Duke Nukem Forever! Beat that Sony!
Now we can finally gets some use out of those "homing pigeons"!
And you thought a packet storm was bad. This could be bad for people that like to drive convertables with the "top" down. :)
but do these "pigeons" run Lin...sorry wrong thread. :)

Why "crack" when you can just use the "source"?
