I'd be interested to see how the sound quality compares if the CDs are scratched. Given that many people won't be sending in new discs, this should be an important factor.
It's little more than a scam to get you to buy their anti-phishing products. I scored a 70% which surprised me given that a. I have never recieved mail from any of those institutions, so I have no idea what a "legit" email looks like / how it's worded. b. I cannot see where the links go c. I cannot see the header d. Cannot check if the links have a legit/valid SSL certificate
Given that information, I know I could pass the test with flying colors.
Why develop new software if mature FOSS can be used instead? As for modifying the code, you don't rewrite something just for the purpose of rewriting it. You rewrite it if its is broken/doesn't meet your needs. If you want a new interface, change the interface. If you want new functionality, write a plugin (or find one that suits your needs).
Just because many people here COULD write a browser or word processor instead of using Firefox or OpenOffice doesn't mean they should/want to.
Even so, isn't Sony ethically (if not legally) obligated to ensure that the DRM protection doesn't violate a user's privacy? Surely Sony and every other company that uses DRM tests the DRM to ensure it doesn't either interfere with a computer's normal operations or create a major vulnerability.
While it isn't a perfect example, it would be as if Ford bought car security systems from ACME corp that had a major vulnerability. While it is ACME corp's fault that the vulnerability exists, it is Ford's responsibility to make sure that the security system WORKS and has no backdoor or unreasonable vulnerability.
I've never understood what "just works" means. From my experience, every operating system (Windows, Mac, *nix) always has some problem/missing feature that needs a workaround.
Congrats to NASA and their research team.
7. A button to temporarily override that godawful buzzing sound if the door is left open too long.
By your logic, medics are evil because they minimize casualties in army A so it can kill army B faster.

4) It is small and isn't unsightly. Remember, this will be in people's living rooms.
Windows did it first! Interesting that this post will be modded down while a similar post where Mac/*nix did it first would be modded up.

At least with an MRI, you wouldn't need a metal detector.

Cue the 1.21 jiggawatts / flux capacitor jokes.
I think I bought the last plot! This will be worth a fortune!

No, but a NetBSD port is nearing completion.
Tresspassers will be fragged. Respawners will be fragged again.
Only Lone Star would dare Blackberry jam me!
Fire. In all my experience as a pyromaniac, it has quickly and with 99.99% accuracy told me whether or not a substance was flammable.

But what if the mind-control satellites are designed to make you worry to give you a false sense of security?
Let's just ban electricity. Every act of piracy requires electricity, therefore electricity causes piracy! I love faulty logic.
The keys are close together.
You forgot the most important step: encase it in carbonite. It's secure AND it keeps the server cool.
