    I'm not from the US, but if you really wanted to pirate stuff, isn't just renting a proxy or doing ssh -D somewhere else outside the country enough?

    Or is it one of those measures trying to prevent John Doe from using bittorrent? (and expecting he won't learn how to use a proxy)

    it's to catch the people who aren't smart enough to protect themselves when copywronging.

    I myself am using a torrent proxy, BTguard, but it's too slow, thinking of switching to a VPN.

    I got me a cloaking device for when I am out on the interweb seas, raping, pillaging and copywronging. Arrr!

    I hang out on Silk Road, because it's interesting. You have to be pretty fucking dumb to get caught selling as well. Being a buyer is a completely different story though. It's much easier to get caught buying than it is selling.

    My 16 year old daughter took to it like a duck to water. And it made her (admittedly, *Vista*) computer run faster. Now, I'm not claiming she falls into the "knows what they're doing" category, but she's been around computers her whole life, and took Windows 8 in stride (against my protestations, being a linux and mac guy -- hers is the only PC in the house)

    We have only one question. Is she hot?

    The books are going to be scanned and shared whether they post PDFs or not. The only question is whether there's a legit option for those who want to pay.

    yep, i've had scans of all their books and modules for over 10 years, sheesh, almost 20 years. Now when I don't play D&D or AD&D anymore, they make it available legally.

    Stupid.

    The security does not have to be good. The purpose of Mega is to disable the RIAA and MPAA's abilities to see what is shared.

    It doesn't matter how bad the encryption is. If the MPAA or RIAA break the encryption on Mega's files they are violating the DMCA plain and simple.

    Mega is using the RIAA and MPAA's weapons against them.

    Except they will be, or are probably lobbying an extension that will allow them to break DMCA in search of copyright infringers.

    since Paypal is caving in to pressure from the AA's to not do business with companies/people/websites the AA's don't like, it looks like Paypal is trying to get back the business of the other people they have screwed over.

    You have a post about what you like, but what does she like? Does she play video games? Does she play any non video games, like board games, sports? Is she competitive?

    It's not like video games are new, if she hasn't gotten into video games by now, she's probably not interested.

    I suggest you find something she likes, if she's into dancing, maybe a dancing game, or if she likes to rock out without real instruments, a guitar hero like game.

    Another question, do you do things she likes? Do you try to do the activities she's into?

    What about those of us that do not want to participate in these things? At what point will it become awkward to say state I don't use Facebook, or will it just become some terrible social stigma ::whisper::"He doesn't have a social account.."::/whisper::

    Do what I do. Make a FB account. Put a picture of something instead of your own (I did Bob Dobbs JR.), then log in maybe once a year or so.

    So if someone i know wants to friend me, they can. Relatives friend me. It's great, because I get to ignore them. My relatives have my FB info, they seem to forget to ask me for my RL phone number and stuff. This way, I do NOT get bothered.

    FB has become my way to avoid people that might call me otherwise.

    I had DSL till last October, when I got disconnected for too much downloading.

    I was paying $65 a month for my crappy 5mbs DSL.
    I paid $10 for a USENET account. Via that account I did most my downloading, probably 80% of all my downloading.

    How come the USENET server can charge me $10 a month and still make a profit, when the DSL companies charges $65 a month and cuts me off because I am downloading too much? It's obvious that what I download costs less then $10 a month, otherwise the USENET server could not keep in business.

    ISP are full of bullshit and it needs to stop.

    What we need is real accounting of what it costs per MB.
