If it maks ya feel any better, I am a bleeding liberal who is always happy to hear anyone's religious views. Just because it is what they believe and helps them get through life, so it at least deserves my outward respect. (Even if it is kooky shit, like my sister with the crystals...)
In the area where the OP likely lives, it is more tolerant thn you think. I used to live three blocks from the Pentagon and bought a prized hookah from a shop in the same area. Either a fresh wind is blowing through Arlington, or the brass doesn't poke their head into every shop in Crystal City:)
Hey now, someone who is completely inept at sucking balls still offers immense value to society. Instead of mocking them, why not support them in their efforts to become better ball suckers? Win-win, my good man..
Florida will love have some input on this topic. I lived there for several years, and I remember repeated protests by local ethnic groups after each release of GTA, due to its perceived representation of those groups. It is also GW's brother's state still.
They are indeed reliable, but you have to admit that they are fairly specialized OSes, intended for specific uses, particularly VMS and Z/OS. They also can cost a boatload of money, so the "end users" are helping to pay for their "never fail" reliability.
I happen to agree with your point BTW, but I think it is important to note this point as well. Hell, GE and Siemens makes closed source software products that are as close to bulletproof as can be, because the environments they operate in demand it (hospitals, etc). By the same token, it is exceedingly difficult to get WoW running under Z/OS (when I'm successful at it I'll cheerfully come running to/. with a new story submission)...
I used it this morning. I have never had any aspect of OO crash on me. I don't know what you mean by "dependable", but OO is certainly dependable enough for my everyday use.
How is the parent not modded informative at the very least? I did a 180 when I read that, and am eager to look into that aspect now. Interesting...and unfortunate:(
I tend to agree. Seems to me that if you hate your job, your notice is going to be "I'm never coming back here bye", as soon as you feel like it (or can). If you're are compelled to give two weeks and mean it, then you're honorable enough not to install worms all over the place before you split.
Sadly this theory falls apart when people exist who are so pissed off that they actively plot (and carry out) harm before they leave. I think they are missing a few cards in the deck, truly. Anyone sane knows that your chances of getting caught during or after the fact are exceedingly high. There are those insidious "change three lines of code and be out of the state on July 1, 2006" people, but they are rare. You have to have enough sanity to hatch a scheme like this, but crazy enough to think it is worth the risk.
So, where does that leave us? Assuming that the above is true, this means that most people who give wo weeks notice want to do their two weeks quietly and leave.A few bad apples though, have done harm. Needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many in this case. Businesses don't want to take the chance anymore, which is a shame for the rest of us.
Please, no 733+ sword is going to do 10 points of damage. Come on. You get 10 points of damage with like a dry sponge, or a fistful of leaves flung at someone. Expect a mega-reet longsword in D&D to do over 100 points of damage, once all the enchantments and criticals are taken into account (you didn't forget about the critical hits, did you?) Think outside the bun, man.
Then a renewal contract should be given. Like good old Trumpy does to his apprentices. Get the psycho/incomptent out quick so they can't do much damage, or keep the good guy around for a few (much longer) contracts, or just hire the good guy outright after a one year contract. Make sure bennies are in the contract though - people need health care whether they are on contract or not.
I wish I had the chutzpah to do it. I'm staring at that unit right now. My big concern with it is if it fails for whatever reason it's probably fried, and I honestly can't afford another one right now. Any cheerful words concerning how easy it was or something like that might convince me to push the red button, but I haven't done it yet...
Mod up FGJ. Also two little known facts for brick and mortar stores.
1) If a store tells you that there is a minimum charge for credit cards, inform them that this is a violation of the Visa merchant agreement, and that you will notify Visa about this. They'll take yer plastic after that usually - they don't want to have their credit card status tinkered with (and Visa will pull that in a jiffy if they hear about it and investigate).
2) A lot of people use debit cards, as do I. When you use a card like this as debit, you pay the transaction fee. When you use it as credit, the storeowners pay the transaction fee. It's about 25 cents per transaction - swipe your card ten times in a week (not unheard of by any means) and you paid an extra $130 dollars a year. I chuckled in my grocery store last night when a sign cheerfully informed me "we prefer debit!" Gee, wonder why...
Jesus, one more paranoid nut. The airlines retain the data, not the CDC or whatever shadow organization you think lurks menacingly behind them. That's in the article noted above, which you might want to read for additonal non conspiracy related information.
Friends of mine did that. Worked in McLean/Tysons, bought a ranch and live the good life in Martinsburg (one of them died sadly some years ago). Admittedly they sold a swinging Austin Powers type of townhouse downtown to pay for the ranch, but still it is impressive...
The end is nigh!

Heh I'm in PA now in Philly - this Commonwealth is just as intolerant once you get away from the cities.

Now as for the rest of the state...

If you drink enough beer, it is pretty easy to convince yourself that you are playing a PS1-PS3 game (or hell, even a Colecovision).
What about a apostrophe at the end of plurals, like this:
The Reverends' communal car was stolen last night.
I'll go with the GP and say I swear I learned this as well.
WHAT?!? Fucking salesmen...
or they just have live bands playing at thier house and in their limo all the time.

Please mod the parent up, as the link is their announcement about this (presumably after the story was published on /. earlier today). Thanks.

Mod this noble parent up, and I will second his opinion.

Agreed. With that said, my advice is not to act like a psycho or incomptent fool and you should be all set :)
That would make me very very sad....unless I was in all of them as the henchman. Then it would be OK :)
