Here in England we don't normally have anything that we can't forward through. The worst one is my most recent DVD - Alien versus Predator. It shows a load of crap about not copying the disc and piracy etc, then starts showing film trailers! I've never been so annoyed at a DVD as I am when I put that in.

I have been using the free Opera version for years. The ad bar is only 9mm high on the skin I am using. I never even notice it. I have it set to Google Ads, so I don't get flashy graphical ads, just a bit of text.
One thing I don't understand is why it costs so much to get rid of the ads. I would actually LIKE to pay them for the non-ad version, but it's too expensive. If it was about £5 then I'd register in a second (and I'm sure 10's of thousands of other people would as well).
"Princess Toadstool 64" - nope, not heard of that one either.
Zelda! Yep, that's more like it. I've never played it, but I've played a similar thing (The Speris Legacy on the Amiga). Thanks for clearing that up.
I thought it must have been from an X-Box, Nintendo or Sega console as I've never had any of those.
The only colsoles I've ever had are the Atari 2600, Playstation and PS2 (and when it's out a PS3). Apart from that is was all computers: Vic-20; C64; Amiga 500; Amiga 1200; PC.
Heck, any gamer (old or young) know who Mario and Link are and are at least familiar with Pong.
Ermm, I'm not trying to be flamebait here, but I am 33 years old and have been playing computer games and programming since 1981 and I don't know who Link is.
I would have thought that the really famous characters would have been picked. If I don't know who Link is, then I can guarantee that the general public won't have a clue.
When I was playing Thief II, I started being very aware of dark places and I found myself walking on carpets and avoiding the hard noisy floor at work.
I was convinced that they were taking the piss out of the article for inventing a stupid childish sounding word.
I really find it hard to believe that anyone would really say that without it trying to be some sort of comedy word.
If you "ise" something you are normally trying to turn it into the thing. i.e. If you customise something you are making it into a custom made thing, and popularise to make it popular.
Were these people trying to make the house into a burgular? That is exactly how I read it (on the/. page). When I read the article I just thought they had made a mistake and/. were laughing at them.
I thought that was quite strange as well. Everyone I knew had a C64 or a Spectrum (the ones who couldn't afford a C64). Later on everyone had an Amiga or an ST (the ones who couldn't afford an Amiga). Before the C64 days, everyone had a Vic-20, BBC model B, Electron or ZX-81.
No-one had a PC because they were no good for anything at the time. Compared to an Amiga the difference was like a ZX-81 to a C64.
I don't think I ever saw any of the other Atari or Apple computers in peoples homes during the 80's. I used an old Mac once at college, but that's it.
I still have an Amiga to my left and a C64 to my right as I type this:-)
Normal standalone DVD recorders let you plug in a VCR and a camcorder with firewire (at least mine does and it only cose £180). I don't really see why this is supposed to be different.
That's what I do. I almost never have more than two games on the go at once. I recently finished two, so I bought True Crime off eBay for £8. I could have bought it when it came out (and spent £30 on it), but I have been playing other games that had a higher priority to me. I knew I was going to get it eventually, but what's the point in getting it if I am playing other games already and I won't get round to that one for a few months? I might as well finish one I am playing and by then it will be cheaper.
I thought someone thought that I was pretending I didn't know what it was because they expected everyone in the world to know what a Quake 3 rocket launcher looked like.
I've found some pics of it now. It's an odd looking thing:-)
Thanks mate. I haven't played it, so I didn't know.
Shees, someone called me a troll for asking a question that's been bugging me for ages. What's wrong with some people. I'll go and do a search for some Quake pics.
I've just tried the classic version and it is very similar. A few improvements over the original like playing various C64 classic tunes in the background, using a seperate button for the transfer and lifts and having nice rendered robots pics of the originals 2D ones (which look exactly how they should look in 3D). It has a few sound samples which I don't like - I prefer the originals sounds, but on the whole, a very good version.
I might try the fully 3D one now, but I don't like the idea of being Tux. Nothing against the little fella, but Paradroid is supposed to be about droids!
I still think Paradroid on the C64 is a good game. When Paradroid '90 came out on the Amiga I still liked it, and if Andy made a PC version now I think I would still like it. It would probably be a third person type view nowadays.
She was a nice lady thought so I didn't really mind. I wasn't annoyed by it really, I just found the whole situation funny. We used to get asked sometimes about photocopiers or fax machines if we happened to walk past at the time. Anything that uses electricity...
Yep, I've had most of that happen to me when I used to do support.
"9. When the photocopier doesn't work, call computer support. There's electronics in it. Ditto for the microwave, timeclock, and coffee maker. Hell, if it plugs in, we're probably in charge of it anyway."
I was actually called by a user because her kettle wasn't working! I had to go looking for a fuse in the stores and change it for her.
Another time, there was some work going on and they planned to switch off the power to the whole site over the weekend. On Monday morning no-one could understand why they couldn't login to the VAX and RS6000. Of course they didn't tell us that the power would be going off! We just found out when we saw the console screens.
Another time there was a hardware failure and we had spent hours getting everything working again. I overheard a user moaning that we always cause things to stop working. I felt like just randomly swapping the patch leads in the cabinet, going home and letting them sort it out.
Does the average person really need more than a 3 or 4MP camera anyway? I have a 3MP camera and I almost never have it on the maximum size setting.

Ohh yeah. You can allllllmost see my house if you squint.
Maybe in 6 months we'll have the fully zoomed in version. Google are doing a good job I think.

Two reasons.
1) The correct spelling is colour. Color is a spelling mistake.
2) If I had never seen the word before, I would pronounce it the same as the thing on a shirt round the neck. The word colour has a "U" sound in it.

Am I missing something?
As soon as I read the quote from that Tom Hayes person, I thought What an arse-hole! He has just shown himself up in-front of the whole world.
I hope everyone who works with him lets him know how disgusted they are with what he has done.
There are some short video clips as well and a description of certain areas and people.

Okay, no problem.

Thanks for that. I'll go and look for some Quake pics. I played Doom 1 & 2, but never got Quake.

Can someone PLEASE tell me what that weird red and silver icon is that gets used on FPS articles?
Everytime I see it I stare at it, trying to work out what scale it is (2cm long? 2 miles long?) and what it could possible be.
It's a red thing, with a sort of pin and trigger type thing and a silver tube thing, with a thing stuck to it. Arghh!
Someone put me out of my misery!
That's really good.

Impossible Mission is fantastic as well. I finally finished it last year. It only took 20 years... :-)
I.M. 2 is next!
I still think Paradroid on the C64 is a good game. When Paradroid '90 came out on the Amiga I still liked it, and if Andy made a PC version now I think I would still like it. It would probably be a third person type view nowadays.
