  1. 3rd Party Software on Ask Microsoft's Martin Taylor About Linux vs. Windows · · Score: 1

How does Microsoft feel about Antivirus companies and Spyware companies? These companies exist because of the flaws of your operating system, not because computer viruses exist and viruses exist solely because of a lack security model.
Why hasn't Microsoft taken security seriously? And no, I'm not buying 'We have been serious about security the past 2 years' jabber. Why isn't there an 'Install' mode for applications (ala terminal server) so that this 'One Click Install' can go away?

What you have done is push people like me (Ex pro Microsoftie with Certs) away from your OS. $127 for a Mac OS is leaps and bounds better than $300 for XP Pro is also what I noticed.

OK so I'm an alternative OS convert from mainly Windows. I run Mac and Linux. My last Windows OS was Win2K.
Flight Sim on Windows is cool especially if you're a pilot and no, I haven't tried Flight Gear in the past year.

The number of titles for Windows is staggering to the extent that it will take years for Linux to compete on gaming alone.

I won't buy windows for $300 (Full Pro) $200 (Upg Pro or Home) or $100 (Upg Home or hack OEM) for this and it's really sad that Linux doesn't have the cool audio support that Windows has.

I would buy the Windows Lite edition for $50 that allows 3 programs to be run that way I could still build a system and dual boot for games.

Xbox doesn't have the complexity or titles equal to the PC side.

Some of the 'savings' are obscene like 25% - 35% on some items. I used fake data on the only card I got just for the savings.

The ploy is so that the stores can 'market' to a specific address. My wife filled out a legitimate card and we have yet to get any promised 'coupons'. The only thing we did get is a free turkey last year but that was tied to the card, not the address.

This is one thing that is wrong with the left; hard work + good judgement = fortunate. In reality, it's (hard work + good judgement != fortunate) but (less fortunate = lazy AND bad judgement).

I am so sick and tired of hearing how 'fortunate' 'privileged' people are and how we should help the 'less fortunate'. More like the lazy bums need to get off their ass and learn what hard work is.

I'm a responsible adult, pay my bills, etc...
I had a kid 2 years ago at a cost of $10,000. I have another coming that will be at a cost I'm sure of at no less than $10,000.
I pay what some people call 'insurance' (but more like a payment plan) that pa(id/ys) 80% of it. The rest I paid out of my pocket.
These kids are planned and I provide for my family.

Why is it that the left duck-heads consider a horny irresponsible teenager 'less fortunate' and want ME to pay HER hospital bill???

You know what? I consider her _lucky_ because SHE can have that child at NO COST to her in a public hospital.

If you want to go to a university, work hard for it dammit and STOP asking for hand outs.

There are people who seriously want to get in this country for the opportunity of hard work and then there are people who can work the system so afforded by politicians on the left.

People who work hard and drive nice cars and live in nice houses aren't 'lucky', it's called hard work.

Yeah, I understand that but for WLB, the whole point is supposed to be a mystery anyway. I like the style it was told in but I already knew the ending so it wasn't enjoyable for me.

Castaway, I like how Zemeckis painted the whole environment. The plane crash was beautiful and the journey of Hanks character was even worth it for me. I just hated the fact that I knew what direction I was being sent to.

Don't get me wrong, I love movies and can watch them over and over. Those two movies relied on the journey to the destination but if you knew the destination, there was no point to the journey.

  24. My Vent against Zemeckis on Teaser Trailer for 'Cars'; Info on 'Polar Express' · · Score: 2, Insightful

Just an opinion, nothing to see here.

Zemeckis was a talented director pushing the envelope in just about every movie he did.

I really felt ripped off and gyped with "What Lies Beneath" and "Castaway" with the marketing and even more so with the fact that he alone approved the maketing.

What I'm referring to is the fact that the endings of both movies were given away in the trailers. Watching those movies was just a waste of time if you've already seen the trailers.

What I can't believe is what he said about giving away the endings. He said that people continue to buy Big Macs because they know what they're going to get.

I'm just going to appreciate "Used Cars" to "Contact". If "Polar Express" is a good movie, then fine but I've already seen the trailers. The story is good and I'll just leave it as a book for me.

If Joe Burglar breaks in my home and wants to take my jewelery and other valuables that are deemed valuable I should just throw out the welcome mat because he was able to break in?

I agree with you comment "Life is more valuable than property. By a factor of infinity. There are no exceptions. Property can be replaced, living things can't."

I think where we differ is that I feel that if Joe Burglar doesn't want to abide by societys rules, he should be removed from society, not given the welcome mat.

Someone who breaks into my home IS a threat to me and my family and I will do whatever it takes to PREVENT that threat. Not react to whatever that threat decides to do.

If that threat breaks the first barrier to me and my family, it is assumed that the threat is a danger and I will attack like a white blood cell.
