ALtered Carbon would be great, although I think I would like to see Snowcrash done first. The sequels to Altered Carbon are good reads... the second was ok and the third was almost as good as the first.
Enders Game
Stranger in a Strangeland - purchased by Tom Hanks is the rumor
The Cat who could Walk Through Walls - Heinlin again
I have no mouth and I must Scream - Ellison
What does HDCP encrypted mean, DRMed or just encoded for Blueray or whatever the next format is?
If it is the actual encodeing of the next media, then so much for ever getting software on the media. If it is DRM locked... then well people will find away around it. Odds are this will pass and this post means nothing, heck the standered is not even hammered out, let alone the DRM.
They got Hygel and got it right, at this time the only way to get into that area is on a self run server. But alas they did not find GM island... Also looks like pre patch 1.4 the AQ section has more stuff in it now and extends farther east.
Hacked server, but missed one crucial location.
Of all teh dumb things Bush has said this year alone... a comment about an iPod is the best they could get??? I guess they are right the internet and print media is a vast left wing haven that preys on the right.
We just recently reported on the small developer's advantage in this area of the industry, so no surprise here at EA's move.
Jamdat's offices are huge, they got at least 2 floors of a large building just off the 405 freeway in LA, just south of THQ. The are a large enough occupier that they have the sole name on a 12 story office building(not visable in the link.) Also if this is the largest purchase by EA, how is Jamdat small? Perhaps this needed to be better written.
I use the Airtunes even with my PC hard wired into a belkin base station, yes I know apple says you cannot do this, I have had no problems. For 100less I think you get a better deal. Even if I add a wireless remote it is still $70 less.
It seems at least one person a year dies of video games in Korea. While the family that left the infant at home seems real, the others seem a little off. Its hard to believe that 50 hours of gameplay would kill you. Remember this is also the country that thinks that fallin asleep with a fan on in the room will kill you. Makes you think of 1850-1910 newspapers.
I have been buying from Dell in numerous capacities for years, and it is rare that you cannot find the same thing at diiferent prices depending on how you play with the site. There are different pricing models depending on consumer or business even on the same models. It get even more fun when you realize some of the business models are identical to consumer models, they just have different names and the base state is slightly different. Customize up and match them (if you know how to decode dells mobo obsfucation) and Voila!!! 3 or 4 different prices for the exact same thing. Now If you are a Dell prefered buyer you are supposed to get the discount you arranged right? HAHAHAHAHA not if you look!
Vista will implement opengl through Direct3d not direct X. Games will still be able to run in openGL/or directx.
The most likly reason for this choice is backwards compatibility on older servers. and the need for servers not to need higher-end vid cards.
Vista is mostly for servers and corperate boxes, not the consumer. Now if only the other few hundred people actually knew what they where talking about...
The scroll ball is a clickable button making it 5 on my count. Left,Right, back, forward, scroll button. Unless apple is counting the right and left as 1 button.
At least apple has finally made a good mouse again. The apple mice have been horrible since the imac hocky puck. The replacement laser mouse had a wierd click feel to it as the whole body moved with a click.
For the record I currently use aopen's 5 button 2 scroll wheel mouse. the second scroll is for left/right or zoom.
Ok this article is way out there. First of all if this is going to be an Intel only network protocal the hardware will not be cpu based but network chipset based. Going to Intel has nothing to do with this. The ars tech post makes a grat point as to why no more IBM chips. The Apple/IBM partnership was just not working out for either. Apple needed specific chips that mfg and research costs did not make sense to IBM any more.
The bigger question is why Intel or AMD. AMD is the leader in 64bit tech, as well as speed per watt. AMD would have also fostered the different image that MAC has. You can make arguements that Apple wants deals on all chips like DELL has with Intel to supply ipod chips. If you think about it, it is fairly simple. AMD cannot make chipsets. Intel makes mobo chipsets and designs mobo's, AMD does not. Apple has always had a small part in mobo developement but IBM and motorola did a large part if it in the past. Again Apple found in Intel a full service, chip and Mobo design, something AMD could not offer them. If they had gone with AMD they would have needed to partner with VIA, Nvidia (not going to happen since it would force a gpu issue), ATI (ditto, since they are venturing into chipsets). Pick Intel take an off the shelf chipset and you are done.
You can save to the non MS EXP format.. just choose export...
Come on man at least look to see if MS screwed it up some other way and did something half assed... Either they forgot to give you options in the save dialoge or they forgot to disable that feature in the export for the beta. The only way it does make sense is so that new users do not end up with 20 types of the same image file... But with the interface as clunky as it is, this program does not appear to be for new users. This program makes the GIMP interface look good... I will stick with Photoshop...
ICANN currently hands out the upperlevel domains not any government.
And so far no government has put restrictions on what can and cannot be put on an upper level domain that they use..org has no restrictions..Edu used to be in the clear for anyone to grab. And I know a few people that have.edu's that have not had them yanked. The current system though makes it hard to aquire an.edu if you are not a credentialed 4 year college. But if the credentialed 4 year college is the requirment why do so many high schools and school districts have a.edu?
Man I had this idea a few years ago, but could not get backing for the ICANN, and some ICANN insideres said it would not happen. I even tried to find a small country that would change there name to XXXavia to get the ANSI top level domain of XXX.
Now all they need to do is make the US restrict.com to non adult uses. Using the same reasoning of limited resources used to restrict radio and broadcast T.V.
"Xbox has become a major force in video-game innovation, and we couldn't be more captivated by the Xbox 360 canvas," said Yoichi Wada, president of Square Enix. "As the world's first cross-platform online game with more than 500,000 users, Final Fantasy XI will take advantage of the incredible power of the Xbox 360 platform, immersing gamers in spellbinding stories that come to life in high definition and through collaborative online gameplay."
Umm World of Warcraft is cross platform... so is The original Everquest... since when is Mac/PC not cross platform?
Also the cell is going to be very very good at graphics, but how about physics calcs? The next gen of games will no longer be graded on graphics, but on the realism of the world and that implies physics calcs. Cell is skewed to graphics whereas the ppc cores with the ati card will be able to handle complex physics better.
I thought he ended up in some warped reality, fighting Egyptian gods...
For the record...
2001 was based on a short story called "The Sentinal" written in the mid 60's
2001 was written by both Kubrik and Clark (only 15 minutes of dialouge)
All of this is found in a book called "The Lost Worlds of 2001" printed in 1972
hard to find but here is the wiki link
It was made into a Video game in 1996a ndims/review.html

After the suprise that the Phantom is well a phantom. Duke Nukem Forever has been shelved, as well as Team Fortess II.
Seriously Is this that big of a suprise? If I could have bet in Vegas about Phantom being vapor I would have put all my money in it.
OMG clanlord is still around... I beta tested it eons ago...
***Google check***
Omg still listed in the manual...

Easy so you could remove it and, take it over to another 360. Or hook it up to a pc.
