I'm also an EE. True, as technology improves the voltage is lowed. The Vt must also be lowered, thus increasing leakage. But for A GIVEN PROCESS is in the method described by GP, drain-source voltage has minimal effect on subthreshold leakage. The standard equation is, assuming Vds > 100mV
Id_sub=Id0*W/L*exp[q(Vgs-Vt)/(N0*KT)]
Id0 begin the current at Vgs-Vt and N0 being the subthreshold slope
The Federal Reserve prints more when they feel the econonmy can obsorb the inflation that an increase in total cash will cause. The goverment then can spend more money then they earned in taxes, will out a deficit.
Actually, the biggest hurdle is that all the roads are on a 1 mile grid. and the road signs. And the markers. and those little white lines that police airplanes use to time you and give you a speeding ticket. Moving a road is a bitch.
The international unit of the second is defined as "the duration of 9,192,631,770 cycles of microwave light absorbed or emitted by the hyperfine transition of cesium-133 atoms in their ground state undisturbed by external fields"
Yes, except for the photons released by you monitor, all energy consumed by a computer ends a heat (and the photons, once they strike something). Charge is added to the gate of the transitor to turn it on. The charge is then dumped to ground to turn the transistor off. Think of it like lifting a log over your head. During the motion of lifting, you are doing work. No drop the log. All the energy in this process is now heat. Work was done, but the potential was released. P=CFV^2 + leakage + crowbar
Of course, options do dilute the value of the stock. But the public knows this going in, the total outstanding options are stated in all reports. And the public votes each year weather or not to continue to provide options. If the company grows and stock price increases, everyone is happy. If the price stagnates, the options are worth zilch, are not sold and the market is not diluted.
How do you calculate the cost to the company? You can't estimate the cost when the option is granted, it have no fixed value until the option is sold. If you wait until the option is sold, then the public has already bought their shares, with no way to know the expense that will be created when the option is exercised. Once you try to expense options, you may as well buy public stock, hand it to the employees but not let them cash out for 5 years. At which point you way as well just pay them more
Another reason which help computers evolve exponentially is that computers are used to design computers. With more processing power, an engineer can design a more complicated device.
When your dry, an meter will read 100K-1Meg ohm from hand-hand. There is another problem accossiated with the duration which is rarely mentioned. Most of this resistance is from the skin. Your internals are mostly electrolytic. As you hands begin to burn and the skin peels away, the resistance drops, and then you're in real trouble. Now only a few dozen volts can produce plenty of current to kill you.
As far as I can tell, all the large supermarkets belong to one of two groups. Safeway owns Kroger, Abertsons, maybe Furrs. Tom Thumb and Dillions are together. Any card will work at any other member, though the cashier people throw a fit. Works good at the self checkout
HDTV in North America (and Korea) is 9GB/hour
:)
in MPEG2. In MPEG4, maybe 1-2G/hr
But then the A/C switch wouldn't double as the Turbo button.
But the light in front of you would be blue-shifted, and so the total power reaching you would increase.
This should be on the Slashdot front page
In CMOS, Power=CVF^2 + Leakage. I^2R assumes a constant, non switching current and a resistive load. A CPU has neither.
It may use the 3-chip DLP solution, one color per. But $699 would be a bit of a decrease in price over the last 3-chip I saw for $15000
Bzzt, actully you're both wrong.

Well, you detector will also light up for most cordless phones, microwaves, ect
Like normal energy, just 1/4 period early or later
No idea what this is. Exposer a bit too long?

Its something like that. arm-arm current will pass thru the heart and stop it. arm-leg current will just cook your arm and leg.
Well, all you uber-stylish yuppies wanted us to get rid of the lead, so we did. Now you get to deal with the cold-solder joint problems.
