  1. Re:POD on The BookMachine: On-Demand Book Printing in 3-5 Minutes · · Score: 1
Did you happen to RTFA? It CAN DO THAT!

In operation, the book purchaser sits at the customer console and selects books by title, by author, or by subject from menus presented on the screen. The selection is made by touching the screen at the appropriate spot. The BookMachine, from its local memory, will present a full-color, high-resolution picture of the finished book. The customer, by placing his finger at the upper right-hand corner of the book image can, through animation, open the book cover by moving his or her finger to the left. He or she can page forward and backward throught the first five or six introductory pages, credits, table of contents and so on. By touching the appropriate spot on the screen the customer can request a synopsis, a biography of the author or recent book reviews. After an appropriate time lapse, the BookMachine will ask if the customer is interested in purchasing the book. If the answer is "yes," it will ask whether payment will be by cash or credit card. If the credit card option is selected, the customer will be instructed to insert his credit card. The BookMachine will automatically check the credit and, if it is approved, tell the customer to step to the delivery tray of the machine and wait for his book. At the time the order for a book is placed, the machine will also give the length of manufacturing time in minutes. If the customers indicate they will be purchasing with cash, the machine will alert a clerk who will take the cash shown on the clerk's screen and instruct the machine to produce the book.

    Best excerpt from this link?

SCO spokesman Blake Stowell was among the first to speak out against Linus' move. "How can Mr. Torvalds claim to license our intellectual property?" he asked pointedly. "We are examining his right to do this and we may sue him or a member of his family."

Honestly, who in their right mind moves to Oregon? Furthermore, was anyone ever able to cross a river without losing 3 oxen, 2 passengers and countless pounds of food/supplies? I'd wager that precious few of you made it to Oregon with more than 3 surviving crew.

Subsequent to the release of this bulletin, it was determined that this vulnerability could also affect users who do not have the "Outlook Today" folder home page as their default home page in Outlook 2002. As a result, Microsoft has re-released this bulletin with a new severity rating of "critical" to reflect the expanded attack vector.

Much like other users have suggested, there's no reason in harrassing them. They discovered the patch was exploitable on a wider scale than previously thought, and quickly released a patch to address it. No biggie.

The DoD has a shortage of translators at the moment, taskings come down all the time for foreign language volunteers. In fact, those that speak some of the more complex languages, (i.e. Arabic, Korean, Japanese, etc..), can cross-train any time they wish. I'm not sure what type of IM system the navy is moving to, AFAIK, (keep in mind I'm in the AF, and have only worked with the Navy for a month), ships use an IRCesque protocol on private servers to communicate back and forth with mIRC/MS Chat. As long as you have translators on those networks, I wouldn't see the need for a new-fangled system.
