Seriously, how could they forget Xenogears? Sure, it had a lot of cut scenes - but it was amazing. The 2nd disc was obviously abbreviated, but it was the highlight of my entire PSX collection. I am somewhat horrified it is not on the list.
I simply have not been able to play videogames since Xenogears, nothing has come close. RPGs, RTS, shooters, etc, nothing.
screenshots? i understand the whole header and message dont appear at the same time. but, if its displayed on a computer monitor, it can be archived somehow.
but why does anyone need this - other than to attract new readers. For that - and for that alone it is useful. Want to eliminate ads? Want to read slashdot in a really streamlined manner? The functionality has existed for years. Just go to your preferences, and check the "simple design", "low bandwidth", and "no topic" icons. do you want topic icons? then turn them on. do you not want stories about kde? turn those off. You can drastically reduce the amount of crap you had to put up with just to read the stories. Now, if someone could find a way to get CSS to eliminate dupes...
Thanks for the cool graphics slashdot - but no thanks, I'll stick with my low bandwidth text and +4 filter.
wait until you unplug it before you turn off your car. itll corupt itself. rendering you unable to open your whip or drive. on the other hand... if it lets me carry my music for the ride with me, thats kinda neat. until that gets corrupted too.

seriously: good food. good beer. tons of games? a place where you can walk around with a red stripe in hand. and play like LA machineguns and all the other assorted Chuck E Cheese games like the mole thing etc?
how is this any different from DaB? Diff age group maybe... DaB is over 21 after like 9pm - and its kind of expensive. But still, this is the best implementation of a "gaming restaurant" even if its more arcade than chuck e cheese type of games.
Plus, the place is kinda classy, like id take buisiness clients there and girls on dates. (provided of course.. i had clients to entertain or girls to take on dates, or vice versa)
i just dont see how this could oneup dave and busters. which stole my heart the first time i went. -nrs
you are also probably one of those crazy ex-pat types who love the advantages of this country (uh seriously, we have amazon, netflix, tivo, and a ton actual non internet related things which are supersweet), but want to move out so hard. "god, the US is so lame. im moving to australia, or europe, or anywhere where they are sane". guess what buster, the U.S. is sweet even with all the crap thats happening around us (ie, our shitty president)
on another note, people crib about music as if they can make some actual claims about it. did you know that everyone who claims to like country music but hates like... modern rock and roll just is being blind to history? music isnt original, its stolen back and forth and given a new style and spin and then its traded back and forth again. i mean, its obvious. music evolves and devolves, etc. gah. troll or not, you cant deny it. "i hate american music" what a crock of shit. "european music is so superior" half of those popular european acts are just emulating major american singers who are just emulating them who are emulating their idols from years gone by! stop hating on popular music. god! just... just end yourselves.
rainlender really is the perfect calendering app for me. I modified the ical skin to shave off the task list, so now i have nice white square that sits on my background with color coded boxes telling me where i need to be and when. no task bar stuff to worry about. just a nice clean background app.
have you also noticed how in almost every show you see (including porn. because well, you can never forget porn) the apple logo is covered up? i cant tell you HOW many Tibooks ive seen with postits over the apple logo. what the hell? you cant display an apple logo if apple doesent want you to? -nrs
this article is utter horseshit. CMU satisfies almost everyone of those requirements (except one maybe). Also The "students are required to own a computer" one applies to some schools (Tepper) at CMU. We were one of the first schools to offer online registration, a campus wide wireless network etc etc, and WE didn't make the list. that is some shit.
so. regardless of how cool it is to be getting your books online, thats not the cool part. Ive been doing that for three years. Youd be surprised how fast books get here via DHL from Honk Kong or anywhere else. You have to check to make sure the problems match up - but they usually do
Like I said, the real cool part is how easy it is to get solution cds to the books now. I can get the entire solution manual scanned into pdfs or jpgs on a cd for maybe 30 bucks. Thats a huge timesaver when I need the answers to problem sets before a test, or when I need to prove to myself that a book's answer is wrong.
Granted, you can abuse these solutions easily and lose the motivation to actually do your homework. Still, I think the availability of these solution discs is a huge boon to my college education. -nrs
yeah, pc makers might be trying to get rid of them, but what about software companies? how many of us still have software on floppies that is irreplaceable? and how many of us still have windows 95/98 recovery disks etc. don't most linux installations still recommend creating a root disk etc? until software ocmpanies no longer make software available on floppies and all of mine break, all my pcs will still have a floppy drive -nrs-

yeah using a linky router it does work, but this speedstream modem gets diahrhea now and then and just craps out and SNET likes to say "no eta" on fixing our problems. but then again my router has been up recently for at least 3 weeks. pppoE eats AT LEAST 15-20 of your bandwidth though, its all overhead, i dont know what the overhead on a "normal" non-pppoE connection is. id prefer not to have pppoe, but hey, whatever, it does work doesent it? -n-rs-
i would definately want to go to a geek bar, of course... im 18. not 21. so alcohol is not a good thing. of course, a good geek crib doesent need to have suds to be phat. i mean get a bartender who knows how to mix stuff or just serve it all virgin. in any case, what would be really nice, is a good lcd projector on a wall/screen or multiples and people could chose what they wanted, or just a small (less than 10) cluster of pcs for gaming. yeah, bleeding edge shit too. anyway, a good music system would be nice, dont have all this individuality crap though, with seperate booths and stuff. institute a sense of community. i like that iopener jukebox request thing someone had-- thats hot. if i could just walk in, sit down, grab a OJ/sprite and relax with some nice lighting and music and pccage id be all set. of course.. im prolly gonna get a scaled down version in my dorm room somehow.... me, a projector, a fridge, and my stereo thats all i need. well.. no theres the microwave, hotpot (RAMEN BABY!) i mean thats the stuff. but yeah id def go to a geekbar if it were done right. -n-rs-

i am a SNET customer up in New Haven CT, I can tell you firsthand the dsHELL ive had with them, and WHY they have these problems. After waiting several years for broadband and then moving (pgh to new haven--- infinitily worse) I finally got in the install list for SNET, this alone took several months... When i finally got my circuit initialized which took months, I was introduced to pppoE. This is the devil, in fact it is Packetloss' evil brother. More on that later. The REASON SNET (Which is a SBC partner obviously...) is having these problems, is the OVERPOPULARITY of the service. Who doesent want this stuff? Super fast porn, warez, and the real legit applications of this technology too. Well they were SO oversubscribed and so underprepared that they were at 99% capacity. 99! what is the industry recommended capacity? They had one redback doing this entire region, if not more than one county. In any case, the service has improved considerably as the management realizes what they are up against. The opening of the lines to local competition (netplex,.... which is infinitley better) has caused them to react. However that does not stop the weekly outages of the PPPoE server. The techs who show up at your house (usually gratis too) understand our woes, and even they use the netplex option for service. They come in, look at the linksys box and smile. But harassing their techs and customer service (ASI) on the phone never works. the trick, just be nice, --- but reprimand them for their lazy performance. WE CAN improve our broadband, its a matter of tact and good suggestions, either that or just boycotting the service.. -n-rs-
