  2. You are spot on. I should have clarified that the ships are not specific to one specific cargo. They are designed for different types of bulk cargo though, you are correct.

I was thinking they could change them to use something more similar to cargo container ships.

Since return shipping is almost-free to whichever country has the trade surplus, the ship benefits if it work for that cargo demand as well. That probably opens up another can of worms with food vs whatever as cargo in the same ship. I guess if this was easy it would have already been solved.

  3. Ships don't just travel one route. They are generic, to handle many things. With that said, this makes me think something like shipping containers would maybe work better than bulkheads for grain then. Maybe that's still impractical at the scale we are talking though.

There is a difference between CNN and Fox. Fox news is a marketing platform pretending to be a news channel. It doesn't provide any version of the news, either right or left. What it offers is marketing. The station is designed to promote the RNC (not conservatives). It is fake news.

CNN, is bias news. They report one side of any opinion, however it is actually one side. It is a true opinion.

If you cannot see how these are different, i suggest watching some other news stations then see the spin put on both. CNN will support one side that you saw earlier. Fox will support the RNC, and throw out the facts.

I am all for free speech, but this is no different than yelling fire in a crowded theater. Fox needs to be shut down. It isn't promoting healthy dialog, it is as harmful as any other terrorist propaganda.

If you still have confusion about the target audience of the two, look at the commercials on Fox. They are mostly marketing scams, just like the news they offer. Get this authentic $100 silver coin replica for only $20!

  5. 125 seems pretty believable; I'm certain you aren't to assume they are all riding on the train lol. This isn't Railroad Tycoon. These engines needed constant maintenance, materials, and work. Then factor in the water stops, fuel stops, maintenance/repair depots, parts, and all the staffing needed at each of those resources. If you factor all that in, 125 seems low actually. You have to consider the steam engines impact on many supporting industries; its about more than the guy behind the steering wheel (I imagine there is one, and it does nothing).

With that said, the cabbage picking machines will make cabbage picking machine assembly, sales, and maintenance jobs as well. Higher paying jobs, with less "work".

One was the technology of the time. The second was the uncooperative states; they were offered more voting power than otherwise entitled in order to entice them along. The founders of this system were not fans of it themselves, but offering some states increased voting power was the only way to get those states to commit. Our founding fathers didn't like this system, but it was as close to a democracy as could be created given the players. I don't know where you are from, but I see the exact opposite. Our schools are being forced by the right to spend money on Ipods and such for each student. The teachers and the union are saying "we don't need this stuff, look at how great our test scores are". The right-wing is claiming the schools are struggling and we need to cut staff and increase spending elsewhere. Yeah, like an Ipod for each student is going to help.

Give a bad teacher technology and they will still be a bad teacher. Give a good teacher whatever tools you want, they will find a way to be a good teacher. Throwing money at it will not fix it, and this is exactly the point that our unions have been making for a long time.

Look at the issue of abortion, government spending, jobs......do you think they really care about any of these? No. They are pushing an agenda of lowering the taxes for the wealthy, concentrating the wealth among the most wealthy. How people still vote for it is beyond me. They claim to be fighting for whatever gets the votes.....they may even name the bill after that cause. In the end, the content of their agenda is often counter to what they claimed. Not sure why voters do not seem bothered by this and vote elsewhere. Ron Pauls supporters seem to understand this, which is why NONE of them will vote for Romney. The drawback is the smaller screen size, but it fits in my jacket pocket (a large internal pocket, but still a pocket) where she needs a backpack for her ipad. The only website that seems to work better for her is google maps. Not sure why, but it always locks up on the playbook. Most other sites seem easier to navigate on the playbook.

Also, having a 3G connection anywhere (so long as I have my phone) without needing a data plan, is pretty sweet.

When we travel, we take the playbook and leave the ipad at home. Even over wifi the playbook just seems to work better for most things...can't put a finger on it.
