    Religion stopped science in old Arabia, and may very well do so in USA too. Just look at stem cells.

    As long as those are the good drugs, you are right. You know, the ones that kills you because of improper testing, not the ones that get you high (in reasonable doses). The good, taxable, kind.

    Will you help me too? I want to learn riding a bicycle to work, just like anyone else who is hip and cool.
    The route to my job is 50km long each way, and in the winter the temperature drops to -25C. I have yet to see a hydro refill station with my own eyes, and because of the price of electricity here, an electric car would be way too expensive.

    Not everyone even gets the chance to be environmentally friendly, and without a car, I would be fscked.

    Nothing spices up a party less than a one-way discussion of the practical implementations of recursion in todays programming world. Or a long rant about how reality is just a term to the describe our view of the current metaverse.

    Probably the most coherent and insightful post I have ever seen on /.

    I have a IQ in the range of 135-145. And I'm obsessive compulsive in the way that I like numbers that is a product of 4 or 5, or is a result of 2^x something. I really like 64 ;)
    Whenever I sit down in a quiet place, my mind wanders to the extreme parts of existentialistic visions.

    Even tho I scored high on the "test" a bit higher up in this thread, I'm probably not an Aspergers child. I just think too much to fit in with those that don't think at all.

    My 2 cents.

    Some small degree of Aspergers with a little mix of OCD fits the description perfectly. :)
    Social withdrawal and discomfort is a trait of both, while pedantic behavior and odd habits is a sign of OCD.

    But like you said, does it really matter? I guess 4/5 of the population could be diagnosed with something if we just look close enough. :p

    Look at todays youth, and their clothing and music taste. Its much more diverse than 60-70 years ago.

    I've known quite a few people that might be considered "a bit off", but as long as they are not hurting others, where's the harm in treating them as eccentrics or oddballs and just accepting them for how they are?
    The problem is when they start hurting themselves. As long as the chance of making their lives a bit better exists, it would be wrong not to try. Of course they must be willing to accept the help at some point. You cant force anyone to better themselves.
    I too have had problems with anxiety and depression, but i always snap out of it after a period of time. Not all of us are that lucky, and need help.
    For some people, suicide seems like the only way out. If we can show them another path, I really think we should.
