I played SWG from launch (Late June 2003) until September 2004. The game was great first 2 months, game play wise... but it was ridiculously buggy. After more then a year, the game had some things going for it, but the F you attitude of SOE to its player base rubs on ya. Instead of developing new content, they kept wasting time tweaking (nerfing to shit) what the currently had. Yeah... I had a jedi knight actually, because I used to play from work and shit.... the best part of the whole game was trading my character for 1/2 lb of doobage.

basically what i do is close almost all communication off from my india counterparts.

I do not give them information that i have had to learn and acquire on my own. Things that are not in books, things that are not taught. Let them prove their own worth by developing their own methods.

The result: India gets the ball, they are at a loss and fumble, eventually they (the CIO and CEO) call me, and I get the job done.

I refuse to train my potential replacement. I have been confronted a few times so far on my unwillingless to help, and Ive come right out and said, "why should I?"

It is a dangerous position I keep, because I know if they could replace me, they would if they could, but my knowledge is locked inside my own head.

These are my designs, my creations, and I intend to keep it that way.

I know they are actively trying to replace me, but so far they have been unable. I alone hold the key. If they feel like redisigning the system I have built from the ground up, more power to them, but at least I know they will have to hire someone from this neck of the woods to do it.

You almost had a point. Though I would have to call your bluff on the computer game thing. Then again, what constitutes a computer game these days.. a disk you buy and install or does a game of Slingo count. You would think if that were true there would be a hell of a lot of Barbie games out there. Not to totally stereotype female players into goodie goodie roles as far as game play, but lets face it, its rare to see a female in any game commercial, unless its a CGI of a female, usually large of breast and light of clothing. Lets see some numbers, being an engineer, thats what I like to use.

well do be honest we had a good team of 5, we designed telecom hotels for major GSP We all worked hard did our part and reaped the rewards now we are a staff of 10 (5 indiands aded to the payroll) + 2 are owners... and while 80% of the time they can follow step by step instructions (that we had to write for them) , the other 20 where circumstances need adjusting, they either cant do it, or do it incorrectly, usually causing more work. to be honest a lot of time and aggravation would saved if they just stayed home and collected a paycheck. We are now hiring 3 more indians, to route email and one to do shipping. yep... and they are talking about getting more. this hiring of friends is killing the company, and it killed the indian government, its one of the most corrupt governments in the world, and you can do a search for cnn on that. I alos believed a discovery channel special or some channel not too long ago. and to be honest, our american workforce is not much different, you still have hiring or frends, nepotism, and etc... and indeed our government. and our software The whole thing is actually depressing on both sides I used to work in a lean mean team... and it kicked ass, now i gotta deal with bullshit and extra work.. 22. Technology influences on Life After the Video Game Crash · · Score: 0

You also have to remember that games often are modeled after real life... If video games were around in the 1800's (humor me), no one probably even considered a racing game with cars, or power boats etc etc. Just like now we probably cant really imagine racing using spaceships, perhaps using the gravitation forces of celestial bodies. What about a game where you travel through time to alter different events between periods to stop (or cause) certain other actions... There is no limit to the imagination, regardless of the media its applied to. Copycats and rehashes are just copouts for those whose imagination has run dry.
