Why is there so little support here? It has to be patriotism..
The playstation looks, so far, to be the most exciting thing to happen in the living room since ever. It looks to destroy the xbox360 preformance wise, it has a huge library of games and all the good games will come to it, it aims to be more than just a console and become more of a livingroom computer, it use allready distributed technologies like bluetooth witch means no need for sony branded licensed hardware.... THIS IS GREAT
Sony has made a huge step towards a fair marketplace, it will make linux much more well known and probobly more ready for desktop use. All xbox has going for it is exclusives. Typical microsoft to gain its only advatage by locking competitors out....
you cant really force this on people. they would not accept it.
if they were to use this on people they would ahve to do it without people knowing.

imo they are the only company that could be able to come up with a good competitor to the windows os. im talking about the regular user here.
a regular user hasnt got the time or interest to do all the tinkering neccesary to make linux work properly. linux sucks when it comes to hardware compatability for regular users.
Sun has a brand name, they are instantly recognised by the public, they have muscle and are respected by hardware manufacturers. its only and only such a company that can breath life into a new OS for the private consumer market.

Every pc user with a brain should have a firewall and anti virus sofware running. If they havent learned yet they deserve to be infected.

The 3d desktop is owned by looking glass(lg). Never have i seen a smoother and more efficient implementation of a 3d desktop enviroment than lg has put in place.
It feels intuetive, its smooth and last but absolutely not least it looks good.
Yes i know some of you prefer a desktop that looks like shit. Boring blue backgrounds with ugly icons or the exciting black screen with a white command line.
But for us the new generation of engineers and so forth, that are actually more kreative and interesting than a piece of wood and actually grew up with friends, looks do matter.
Right now im running windows on my entire home netvork, but come june im installing linux on my server, and come longhorn(and xp updates) im switching to lg for my entire network. Since im living with to other students that are total computer noobs its gonna be a fun experiment. Although looking at lg you know its just gonna go smooth.

As I understand it the FILE(music whatever) wont play on a system that is not authorised to play that file.
But how does the file know what system is authorised play it?
How does the file sepperate one system from the other?
As i have understand it its because of your personal code installed in your CPU, right?
Does the file know your personal code before you start it, so that if there is a mismatch it doesnt start?
If that is true cant you just make the file think you have the right code?
I mean since its sofware that regultes the communication between the file and the chip, since the file itself is software, one should be able to alter the way the file percives the system. Am i right, or am i way off here?
