Call or write to him anyway.

It is as important to encourage good actions by politicians as it is to discourage bad actions. Letting him know that he has grass roots support is important, and allows him to demonstrate that support to colleagues.

Also, a letter/message supporting a politician probably receives more notice than one opposing for two reasons -
    1. it is much easier to get people to complain than to support
    2. The natural human tendency for people to believe people who agree with them.

You seem to be under the impression that China's leaders are wholly evil demons out to cause as much suffering as possible. This is simply wrong.

People in power want two things : -
Priority 1/ to stay in power
Priority 2/ to do what they believe is best for their country (or a sub-group) under their value system.

There are very few people in the world who believe themselves evil, and virtually none in power anywhere. They do what they think is necessary to maintain that power and control, and within those constraints they generally try to do their best.

Where the evil (real or apparent) enters into it is the actions they take to maintain control, the actions they take that further their sub-group at the expense of the rest of their country, and in having a different order of values/priorities.

This makes a heck of a lot more sense due to ONE SIMPLE FACT: theres no need to have a camera show a person whats behind them when they want the screen to overlay on whats INFRONT OF THEM

I don't know about that. If I'm going to be wearing those glasses I want at least the option of a window that shows a 360 degree view. I guess you could do it with cameras on the earpieces pointed backwards (as well as the cameras pointing forward).

  18. Re:Aspartame on Merck's Deleted Data · · Score: 1

I think you may have misplaced some units here.
The no-harm figure from that page that you quote is 0.5mg/kg/day.
Meaning you wouldn't want to drink more than 0.035 fully hydrolysed cans per day.

Unless you are quoting the animal dose figures, which only specify no brain or liver effects at 500 mg/kg/day,(but which is then contradicted by the studies quoted further down)
I think this is unlikely given that the lethal dose for humans is quoted as 80 - 150 ml. i.e. about 1000mg/kg.

  19. Re:Unlikely the researchers did it on Merck's Deleted Data · · Score: 1

It is very unlikely that they use Word to lay out their Journal, and word documents are a pain to directly convert into decent typesetting program files.
The usual procedure in places I have worked that need to do this is to open the document in word, select all the text and copy and paste into Quark/Framemaker/Indesign/Whatever.
You will have to re-apply all the formatting and styles, but you usually have to do that anyway in the Journal's style, and you can generally do it a paragraph or more at a time.
Then the graphics/tables are done separately. The only way I have found to get decent quality graphics back out of word is to print the whole thing to a postscript file and cut out the bits you need. Word seems to deliberately damage embedded graphics if you cut and paste them to a non-office program.
If they operate this way, which I strongly suspect they do, then any hidden text or data is automatically left behind.
The document will usually then be proof-read against the hard copy supplied and "OK'ed" from that.
